Welcome to Gaia! ::

From a Jungian perspective, it would really be up to the dreamer to find the meaning in the dream. What do the symbols in your dream mean to you personally and to your society?

What does your grandfather mean to you? What did the lack of a grandfather mean to you? What was the dream reunion like?

And anxiety is a more Freudian-bent perspective.
And Shepherds We Shall Be
It depends on what school of psychology you are asking for. Psychoanalysis would most likely suggest that it has to do with some kind of anxiety towards an event. I'm not a psychoanalyst so further discussion would be pure speculation and unethical.

A behaviorist would suggest your dreams mean nothing. My training is Person-Centered with some understanding of Cognitive Therapy, and as such I would want to know what it meant to you. How did you feel upon waking up? How do you feel now? Is it impacting you in a significant way or are you just curious?

Dreams are open to interpretation, and can be purely subjective. I know this probably doesn't help answer the question but I hope you have a better understanding of dreams and the types of answers you will get.

well i have always wanted to meet him. umm when i woke up i guess i could say i was kinda happy to have seen him in my dream nd upset that i didnt get to say bye in the dream even though it was a dream. it hasnt really impacted me. i was just surprised and curious as to why after all the years ive wanted to meet him i just now had a dream about meeting him

dreams are meaningless. they're just meant to keep your mind active while you're asleep. and sometimes they are good entertainment while you sleep.

I've seen a lot of your posts in other threads.

I'm honoured to have made an impression upon you.

Seshen
You're cute, you know that?

I do but thank you, I like to hear it.

Seshen
Why would you post in this thread than?

The best thing about knowledge is that you can share it.

Seshen
You're so adorable it's insane.

Aww, thankies so much.

You know what you remind me of? An empty computer with no operating system. A fresh blackboard with defined chalk lines, that can never be erased or added to...

You like my hardware? Please elaborate as these are not comparisons that I have heard before.

Perhaps it is your minds way of reaching out to someone who you know is connected to you, even if you never meet him he is still part of you genome. This could be an imaginative way of your inner mind to seek closure/acceptance of a person you never got to meet but is connected to you.

I don't know about you but no old, dead, men are parts of my genome. My knowledge of genetics suggests to me that I am not unique in that respect.

I believe you've lost my meaning. You have taken things much too literally, it's no fault of yours, perhaps you are unable to see past what I am saying. That's too bad...I believe this is a sociology/psychology forum? I was comparing this dream to Freud's idea of archetypes. Obviously genetics and biology have no place in being compared to dream MEANINGS.

Meaning is no substitute for sense.
It was Jung, not Freud, who thought in terms of archetypes.
Dreams have no meanings.

Couple picture is enough for your brain to fill in some spaces of its own accord.
It represents some sort of anxiety which you are facing, that's about it.
ok i'm not sure where this topic belongs. but what does it mean to dream about meeting your dead grandpa for the first time. i've never met him before, he died before i was born. and last night i had a dream i met him for the first time. and i remember i knew exactly who he was even though ive only seen some pictures. and i remember having a conversation with him but im not sure about what.

What does my dream mean?
