A.) I would say that I find #3 to be the most attractive, with #4 second, #2 third, and #1 last.

B.) What can I say? I dig the nerdy look. Also, I like the fact that #3 and 4 seem to be genuinely smiling, where as #2 is not, and #1 seems to be forcing it. I think that #2 has nice lips and pretty eyes. #1 would be pretty, but she looks awful young, and her hair is pretty plain.

I'm afraid this won't shed any light whatsoever on the preferences of the general public, due primarily to the method used here. For starters, the order, size, and quality of the pictures vary far more than is reasonable and may have tangible effects on the results. There is also no random sampling going on here, and you are allowing all the participants to see one another's responses. There are simply no controls I can see here.

I just realized that number 2 does not just look similar to my late aunt, she looks exactly like her. Where did you get that picture? If it is her, then she was clinically depressed, which accounts for the frown.

Hellenistic is right, this isn't a very good sample of respondents.

I think it was Newsweek that published a large study on this. Overwhelmingly, what humans find most attractive--universally--is symmetry. If you take a photo of yourself, chop it in half with Photoshop and copy and flip the other side, or if you hold up two mirrors so you see the mirror image plus the mirror-mirror-image of one side of your face, you'll look more attractive. Other than that, humans tend to look for larger-than-average primary and secondary sex characteristics, and signs of youth and fitness like smooth skin and a healthy build.

It's going to be really hard to get an accurate representation of the general population with this thread. The photos are of differing quality, size, lighting, and angle. The girls are of different race, taking pictures in different settings. They may be different ages for all we know.

The population of Gaia isn't a good representation of the rest of the world anyway, because it's made up of mostly anime fans. The people who post in this thread are going to be even less representative because they're only the people who want to go out of their way to post. The people who don't want to take the time of rating and commenting on the photos won't have their opinion counted in the experiment.

so don't use this data for anything more than entertainment purposes.

that said, I'd rank them (from best to worst)

#2, #4, #3, #1

2 seems the oldest, and has gorgeous hair
4 is blonde and looks like she's with friends (we already know she's popular)
3 has hair covering her face and glasses covering her eyes
1 has braces.
