My favorite part was their reference to Spirited Away. You could say the whole series does that, but you know the one specific part! The one where she yells out his name and frees him and they both float down to the ground.

Such a great anime. I wonder why it isn't more popular. I mean the animation is mind blowing, and the opening and closing themes are some of the best I've ever heard. Just like you guys mentioned the plot is good, but the ending seems hastily done, and there being no closure kind of really pissed me off. Plus the other female character Haru took to long to get herself together and was quite annoying for a good portion of the series.
