As for the "child porn" I honestly believe that no one has the right to tell anyone they can't take suggestive pictures of themselves and send it to others. They know what they're doing.

Sexting is considered distribution of child pornography even if it's a picture of the senders themselves :/ Therefore, no matter what medium they choose to share the pictures, they'll still get slapped with child pornography charges if they're underaged and get caught.

I'd like to see Gaia mess with the GD, maybe changing the forum link to that of the CB's for a while - perhaps a little public (yet subtle) humiliation will get the message across; comparing them to lowly CB'ers might hurt their ego's enough, possibly until they get sufficient MOD's to properly run the forum, lol.

Gaia seriously needs to draw attention to the stickies though. sigh. I don't know. gonk

This is so far from true it is't even funny. Yes, he cops most of the heat. This is because the GD like to run with "trends"

Do you work in the GD? Do you actively clean it out? If you answered no to either of these question you can't really tell us that it isn't true considering what we have seen happen to several of the mods who used to work hard at cleaning the GD.

That's because our job is to deal with Terms of Service violations, regardless of which forum they are posted in. Moderators are not discouraged from modding the general discussion, and we don't respond to fear tactics, if we did then we wouldn't mod the general discussion to begin with.

You have to understand that moderators are a group of volunteers spending their own free time to deal with a forum, naturally they have lives and won't always have time to deal with every little issue, so sometimes you will see an increase in work while at other times it doesn't get noticed.

That users aren't getting a lot of thank you responds doesn't mean we stopped enforcing the rules, if you are implying that. I do 90% of my modding in the General Discussion and I can tell you that we are not discouraged from dealing with ToS violations in that forum.

By SB's own admission that forum needs many, many more moderators, or some form of much more drastic action if ONE mod makes up 90% of that forums moderation.

Read again, he's not saying he does 90% of the moderation in the GD, he's saying that 90% of the work he does is in the GD, because he works on the GD a lot.

On the topic of OP though, removing the ability to directly post an image does nothing. The only change is that you have to click a link to see the image. And even if other things are put into place, there will always be ways around it.

On the topic of OP though, removing the ability to directly post an image does nothing. The only change is that you have to click a link to see the image. And even if other things are put into place, there will always be ways around it.

Which at least disables trolls. Not to mention that, that point was already brought up and discussed. It at least takes the images off Gaia, worst case scenario we disable links in the GD as well.

Would there be a way to disable any images posted from the IP address of an image offender? There is an idea- if possible.

And it doesn't have to convert to a link, that's just how Gaia does it currently. It can be completely stripped out if Gaia so chooses. Yeah, if links are still left then links to images are still potentially possible, but considering most GDers are still disagreable to 'clicking links' I'm not sure it will be that big of an issue.

Not really, using IP addresses to target people is just too ineffective these days to be doable.


Although if when they finally roll out IPv6 they put new laws on IP spoofing and what not, then maybe it could work, but I doubt it, especially since IPv6 is still probably a few years out.

As far as nuking the GD and causing hell to the rest of the forum goes.......if that were to happen, why not just nuke the Gaia Online forums altogether as a whole in one large swoop. We can then start from scratch with a certain number of Moderators patrolling every damn sector of the forums.

Gaia already has a filter you can set to see only whitelisted images. Because most people dont use it, they only have themselves to blame for what they see.

Regardless of this Option available to all, such images are not allowed on the site. And it doesn't help that people in GD are encouraging others to post provocative pictures of themselves. This is not the site for that, especially when there are kids involved.

And in the end it is likely GaiaOnline.com that gets held accountable for this.

Make official complaints to their ISPs regarding their continuous abuse of a particular website? Scare the living s**t out of them by bring the real-life party van to their house?

Been complaining for the last three years.

I've single handedly reported vag-wall trolls and spent over an hour keeping them all reported while trying to find an online mod to ban them. Nothing they can do will disturb or overwhelm me.

I'm just tired of the extent of corruption. And that I can't really go into the GD in public places anymore.
