Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hey Gaia. I just wanted to comment a little about the current issues going on over the past week on Gaia. Hopefully you guys have some questions or concerns that would spark a discussion beyond this, however... it's really just my feedback on Gaia.

First of all. Thanks Gaia Developers for fixing the Gaia Rallies html scripting issue as fast as possible. For the few hours we were subjected to internet porn, you have secured us from it. I truly and sincerely mean it when I say that you did a great job. My only complaint is that the few hours felt like the time it took to implement Hurricane Katrina aid. Besides that, fantastic job.

Second of all. Cigars. Congratulations Gaia, every mafia-roleplay, every crime-related function, every user who has any view of cigs in a good, high-ranking, light... has now been officially "pissed-off." It's fine though. As a member of the Gaia Police Organization, I find it almost amusing (even though I don't roleplay). The only thing I don't find amusing is how you have just destroyed many people's roleplay/ranking systems (especially mafia-like systems). Next time, you warn people about that before you do it...

Third. Cyber Sex is still an issue. Right now, as moderators and administrators, as artists and developers, you have thousands of angry Gaians who are mad about the things listed above... and it's not going to get easier, UNLESS you begin to start doing things that Gaia will like. Like, for example... toughening up on Cyber Sex.

Well, that's just my feedback. Hope it was good. Comments/concerns?

Yes I have a comment. Good job Gaia for not banning sexually explicit clothing and guns.

Okay. I kinda figured the reaction was going to be against me. And Gaia knew this would happen too... lol.

No, I think everyone's on the same page so I pretty much agree with you.
Personally, I do not know why smoke items are far worse than items that represent sexual themes and guns that are too violent for us older than 13.

It's because Gaia, like much of the western world, is combating drugs however they can. Drugs outweigh the effects of any other problem... AND... Gaia needs to have a good public image so that they can attract parents of the young teenagers (their most valued customers).

I'm not sure about your parents, but if I were on this site as a young teenager, I know mine would take my computer away if they saw my avatar in its current state, and wouldn't give a s**t about the fact that it's holding a cigarette. Probably wouldn't even notice it. It's like, six pixels big.

lol. I tend to keep my avatar friendly to society. Besides the gun. That's my "friendly to American" society item. XD. Second Amendment = friggin awesome. First Amendment = well, satisfactory.

Just kiddin'. Parents don't view anything... but the ones that do, throw a hissy fit. I can bet that Gaia Safety has been getting a lot of concerned parents phone calls about the cigarettes and stuff.

I don't see how sexual content is any different than smoking. More kids on the internet are probably more addicted to pornography than they are to cigarrettes. That's also probably why so many of them cyber on sites like this.

Second amendment is the right to carry something that can blow people's brains out, right? I'm not up on which one's which, being Canadian, and completely unconcerned with law and politics.

Close but no cigar, especially since gaia's got that smoking ban. 2nd amendment is the right to bare arms. Without it, legal citizens lose the ability to defend themselves from criminals who have those weapons illegally.

Personally I'd rather be on the side that has the capability to blow brains out than not. Keep both sides somewhat equal, yo.

Why do people call it "common sense" when it is so uncommon?

And personally, I'd like to see laws that force people to keep their firearms under lock and key when not in use. My cousin lives in the states, and a guy in her city didn't follow that law, since there wasn't one in place. His toddler suffered for it, when he thought the gun was a toy, and put it in his mouth....

But we're getting off-topic, aren't we.

Yup. Which is why I am ending my point on the subject with belief that it is 'stupid people with guns that kill'.

ANYHOW, I'm not sure how much more in depth Gaia can get with cybering. You report and move on.

NRA ftw. That's all I'm going to say about that.

Anyways... yeah, we report cybering a lot, but there's a lot we can do to continue actively reporting it and hopefully trying to get the message out. There's a lot of Gaians who have no idea what they agree to when they join, so there's plenty of reasons to remind or tell Gaians that cyber sex isn't allowed.
