It's not the fact that it's delayed that bugs me, after all, if somethings up in their life, it's not their fault. What annoys me is that they don't at least say "I know you guys expected ____ to evolve, but due to whatever, it won't today"

Adding a reason for why it's delayed will just make it worse. Imagine the assload of people who'd complain upon discovering that this item was delayed so long 'cause the artist went on vacation. Either way we'd have "Why didn't you do the poses before!?", (which isn't a bad argument by the way. They could have a few spare evolutions of just their ideas and if users get annoyed about that, add in, "without these poses, it's evolution would've been delayed" or something like it. Every evolution of an item doens't have to be made after what users want. It's the artist's item.) So a simple "This item won't evolve today, we haven't forgotten about it." would be fine.
