"Slow down, hotshot!"

A little explanation is in order, for those of you who don't realize what this message is. I get this whenever I'm "loading pages too fast," and as a result, Gaia temporarily "blocks" that account. I can't do anything, all I ever see is the warning you see above.

The first time I get this message in a day it only blocks me for around a minute.
The second time I get this message in a day it blocks me out for a few minutes.
The third time I get this message in a day it blocks me out for a random time between fifteen minutes and an hour.
The fourth time I get this message in a day it blocks me out for several hours.

I have even read about people who had to wait twelve, even twenty-four hours just to access their accounts again, and honestly, that's pretty frightening.

The "repeated offenses can result in a permanent ban" part of the warning is scary, too. I'm not doing anything to warrant a ban! gonk

I wouldn't have such a problem with this if it didn't happen while I was doing very simple tasks like dressing my avatar (picture 1, picture 2), browsing my inventory (picture), or using items like the Gee Boi Turbo and Midsummer Swirl* (picture). It also happens to people who vend a lot, as they're trying to work quickly.

Anywho, I honestly feel that the system in charge of this is flawed. I am not the only one getting kicked out of my account for dressing my avatar, and I won't be the last.

I'm not suggesting a new "system," I'm just suggesting a possible re-evaluation of the system in place. It's possible that it's operating in such a manner that would have been effective a few years ago, but hasn't been touched, and is now acting up due to all the changes on Gaia and in technology.

I would like to propose two things:

First, why not add a CAPTCHA to the page? I assume it's there to stop botting and/or page-refreshers, which are "not human," but what if we are human? At the very least can I have a timer so that I can know when I can enter my account, since "a few minutes" doesn't always work, and I don't want to keep checking only to possibly have the time get longer and longer because I keep refreshing the page (*gasp for air*)?

Second, at the very least could I have some information regarding this warning? I haven't read a single thing about it from anyone official, and it's still a giant mystery to some folks, including myself. How does it work? Am I going to get banned if I keep encountering it? Please, I'm asking for anything.

* The items like the Gee Boi Turbo and Midsummer Swirl are meant to be used over and over, especially if you purchased a bundle with nine of them in it. I'm not going to use one, wait an hour, and then use another one. I want to use them all then and there! And I don't want to be forced to watch the little scene -- if I've seen it once I don't need to see it again, so I skip through them a little quicker... and I get punished for it? Don't you want me to want to play them?

And I don't want to get banned just because I changed my avatar too fast!! Oh my God. gonk
