Oh, so since I'm so skinny and with a super fast metabolism [I'm 15, 5'5, and weight 95lbs.], I'M anorexic? neutral Last time I checked, I just ate two bowls of scrambled eggs this morning.

First off, there ARE skinny girls out there who will eat tons of food a day, and NOT gain a single pound. Ever thought that NPCs could have a high metabolism or they just eat the right stuff?

Second of all, THEY'RE CARTOONS. Oh, and GAIA has ALWAYS been Anime Style. In Anime, you'll see skinny girls, with huge ******** boobs. Because Anime-Fanboys love those skinny girls.

Thirdly, they're not slutty. Sasha looked like a slut BEFORE this update. I like her look NOW. She's covered up, and looking mature.

Honestly, why bawl over some pixels? All of them look AMAZING.

Whats the chances that all the female npcs have super fast metabolism? Does gaia only hire shop keepers like that?
Females seem even more ugly then before. Maybe all that gold we donated was so all shop keepers have a yearly supply of diet pills

and they are only just cartoons, true, but this is a big reflection to 13-16 year olds, showing them that the world would prefer them skinny.
everyone has their own metabolism and body size, no reason to bash humans to look like THAT

It's pixels. You're on a Fantasy-Like site. People use their imagination.

And I'm 15. I see them as they're grown up and matured. They've ALWAYS BEEN skinny. And Gaia isn't promoting that. Girls mostly see that they WANT to be skinny from Celebrities, Models, Students in their school [i.e., students calling them fat], thinking they're fat [Mental thing], and hell, even their parents could be rough on them and tell them "You're so fat. Why don't you lose some weight, you pig." So Gaia < Real world.

The real world has LARGER impact on a young girl's views on her body, rather than Pixels.

I don't mean this to sound condescending and I hope it doesn't come off that way, but maybe when you get a little older, you will understand how all sides of the media really do influence girls and even women to look a certain way. I don't expect you to understand at 15, because I certainly didn't. But I do hope that you might do some critical thinking about it, maybe read a few articles on the subject.

I do understand. I've read over 5 articles on it in Health Class, I've talked to real anorexic people, and hell, one of them was on Gaia. [This was at my school.] I did ask for all her sources of why she wanted to be anorexic.

-Models.
-Students calling her a Fat Cow.
-Her idol, Lindsey Lohan. [Don't ask me why a 14 year old likes her.]

I even asked if she was getting Cyber Bullied on Gaia. She told me no, and even showed me her friends, and they were really nice.

My health teacher may have been wrong, but many people don't like the way "Fat" people look. They think it's unattractive and disgusting how a human being can eat so much food and they turn out to this.

Re. articles/books on this topic: Jean Kilbourne. She makes very strong arguments for the influence of images in media (specifically in advertising, but the concept applies across the board) on girls' body images and ideas of what the "acceptable" female body looks like.

I've been in favor of the NPCs showing a wider variety of body types for quite a while now, and instead, we get this. Although I love her outfit, the new Sasha does not look healthy in the least. Moira's breasts have melted off her body. And Ruby now strikes me as a woman who's just hit her mid-life crisis and is determined to flaunt herself.

I'm going to suggest you take a mass communications class in college then. I know you're only 15, but honestly, I'm in one now. Anything, and I mean ANYTHING, can harm a girl's self-esteem. And guys too, they're just as targeted as we are.

Your health "teacher" saying that about "fat" people, is appalling.
You can argue your high metabolism just as I can argue my hypothyroidism that gives me an excessively slow and weak metabolism. I'm on meds for it granted, I barely produce thyroid hormone and it can lead to quite a few health problems besides.
I'm not obese, but I am medically considered overweight.

Some people are not intelligent, nor strong enough, to determine what media is over reality. That's WHY some people think boys should be like Edward from Twilight, or rough and tough guys like Tyler Durden.
That's WHY some people think girls should be like Barbie (a physically impossible body shape), or like any of the women they see in advertisements, on tv, in movies, anywhere.

Everyone is targeted, and you might think you know enough to avoid this and that other people are stupid for believing what the media says people should look like, but honestly you're not. Nobody is. You can understand it, acknowledge it, but it'll still get to you. Even subconsciously. It's obvious with what you said about overweight people in the thing I quoted from you. If you didn't agree with it, you wouldn't have said it. The media never shows how some extremely famous people are "overweight".
Basketball players with their height are considered overweight, they eat a ton, they could exhibit all signs of being a "fat" person, and according to medicine, they're overweight. They only show fat people being the morbidly obese, greasy, disgusting looking person eating at McDonald's.

ANYWAYS: back on topic.

I have a full hourglass figure. (44-32-44)
I would LOVE a nice voluptuous woman, and I'm not interested in women. I would love to feel a little represented on the site, even if traditionally anime girls are supposed to be skinny. Changing it up every once in a while wouldn't be a bad thing, throw us a curve ball. You're not a manga company, you're an international website working out of the United States.
The Biggest ones I see as being bad are:

Sasha - Looks like a "ditzy mall rat" as someone put it, her head is small, she looks slim and I liked the whole beach theme she had.

Moira - She looks flat as a board now! Also I liked her badass leather jacket and pose she had.

Not going to take the class anyway, since I'm planning to be a History Teacher or a Zoologist.

I already know things can hurt a girl's self esteem. People would call me anorexic, and I blew up, started fights, and got in trouble. I would look at my stomach, see a huge thing, and freak out, thinking I have gut. I did crunches though.

I know when girls get anorexic, there WILL be someone there to help them. It's a rare case that someone's not. It's saddening what the own "harmless" [Many people say it's harmless] media can do, and even a boy that the girl likes.

On-Topic: I do agree with this, that there need to be a woman with more curves on the NPC Team.
I'm not a massive fan of the new artwork. I quite like the pictures of the guys, and the new outfits are just fine with me, but the women still bother me. The body shapes are clearly a stylistic decision on the part of the artists, but personally I prefer styles where the women look less stick-shaped in their proportions. I'd prefer more realistic shapes anyday. And for that reason, I prefered the older artwork.
I'm not the biggest fan of the new artwork but after years of the old ones I think it's just an adjustment that I'll get used to, eventually. I do think Peyo looks adorable in the new update though.

I've never looked at a 2D image and thought "WOW! I wanna look like THAT!" How freaky would you look if you made yourself physically look like an anime character, The entire idea that kids can be affected in terms of looks, by cartooned imagery is absurd! I did my Major on adaptations for children, and the research I found actually stated,

Far from encouraging children to live in fantasies, the animations helped them discern the disparity between reality and what was not real.

I agree! Q_Q I want Moira's muscley stomach back. *nodnod*
Simply more pressure put upon young women to be unreasonably thin. Aren't we trying to undo this? Come on people, curves!
Gods please yes. And bring Vanessa's boobs back. I'm not lesbian, i'm not male, and I STILL think you killed half the fun of her by doing such a.... strange pose with tiny a** boobs

Such a naive statement. Reading "over five" articles on a subject hardly qualifies one as an expert, and I'm saddened that you are under the impression that it's so rare for people with a clinical mental disorder to go without help or support. But I'm done with the issue now, since it's peripheral to the topic of the thread.

Her breasts are still there; however, her cleavage is more covered. They never went anywhere and aren't tiny at all.

What do you mean tiny? Vanessa still has large boobs, they're just no longer falling out of her shirt. XD
