I love how you refer to the one artist that drew it as "you people". Artists have feelings too, you know. It's nothing but a different style of artwork, dear god, everyone's bawwing over nothing. Not all artists have the ability to draw different body types, we're not robots, there are some things we do better and some we do worse at and would like to spare the public, even if the artwork in the end gets labelled all sorts of nasty things like "anorexic" (when it's very clearly not), "Barbie-like", and a variety of other things I'm reading around site feedback today.

I'm really pissed at some people because of that--Gaia does not have the resources to hire some World of Warcraft artist to do their NPC art, and I think they've hired a fine one for the purpose they need. As for slutty, I have no clue what you're on about--if anything, they're less sluttier, and as a man, I highly object to them getting rid of Vanessa's cleavage.User ImageUser Image
For some shop keepers it was simply TOO large of a change. I can understand a new drawing style and new poses, and to an extent new clothes....but some are changed far too drastically. The clothes if changed at all should at least be kept in the same style. For most they do this but some are changed entirely. Ruby I didn't even recognize, before I double checked the shop name I thought we got a new shopkeeper. Some of these characters had trademark looks. Ian's hat for example, it was even made into an item. They were well known and loved as they were. Some change is good when it's making something better, but change for the sake of change...I think it just does more damage than good. You had something people were comfortable, familiar, and fond of and you just disposed of it entirely without any real need for it.

As a side note....
Sasha creeps me out. While I agree many if not most of them are unrealistically skinny Sasha is the one that seems to go a little too far. Her wrists and shoulders/neck area give the strongest impression of anorexia. ._. It's sad because if she weren't so anorexic looking I think I might have actually liked her new look. The clothes are still her style and I like her pose, it's just ruined by the rest of her.

I just realised something: isn't the artwork style anime? Aren't 99.9% of all anime characters thin?

I always thought so.

I love how Ruby looks, the dress reminds me somewhat of Sophitia from Soul Calibur and it makes me hopeful of the backwings. XD
I didn't pay that much attention to how skinny they were.

I'm not fond of Vanessa's new look but its not horrible either.

I'm like a lot of others with Ruby, I too thought that they made a new shop keeper and it's like who the heck are you?! I couldn't believe it when I saw Peyo and it's like wait that's that Ruby?! But yeah she was originally like a nice southern lady and now looks like she should be in a magazine or something. A new look for her would have been good but to change her so drastically was uncalled for. I kinda like Peyo's new look.

I love Moria's new hair personally. But since she's suppose to be goth and sell goth her outfit doesn't work. Though she and Sasha and Vanessa all look like they shop at the same store. Which they shouldn't.

Sasha doesn't really look like a valley girl anymore. I mean don't get me wrong I like the fact they deep sixed her top but the new one doesn't seem to scream her.

Liam eh well he does look different, though I find the fact that he's lost some brain cells in wanting to hit showers a little disturbing.

But I was REALLY disappointed in looking to see how Rina looks only to find they decided she didn't need updating. She needs it more than most! Either put her doggy ears up on the side or let her grow up some and cut it a little.

I think Back Alley Bargins is a waste of server space. It was one thing when he sold Zomg stuff on the side and Then for the most part sold cheap clothes. Then for some reason they decided he shouldn't sell clothes. They should either put the Zomg stuff in the cash shop and close that shop or put it back the way it was! Though he's still fairly new, new clothes wouldn't have hurt anything.

Aquarium girl yeah they should have at least given her a new outfit and changed her hair style a bit.

*likes the new update* There isn't anything "slutty" about them at all. You see more at the beach

I honestly don't see where people are coming up with these "Sluttier" claims, if anything they toned down the typical "Bam! Boobs in your face!" style that people complained about in the past. I love the update, the shops now have themes and the NPCs dress accordingly.
Um, the pictures you posted are real people.
Our NPCs are cartoons.
They're not supposed to look the same!

I also don't see how they are slutty either.
Nowhere does it say how many men Vanessa has slept with in the past week.

You know, skinny people actually DO exist that aren't anorexics. It's really weird how most people discussing this find it so inconceivable that someone in the world can actually be skinny without being anorexic. Sasha just looks scrawny, and she's always looked that way.

This.

Skinny people exist without being anorexic.
Oh, so since I'm so skinny and with a super fast metabolism [I'm 15, 5'5, and weight 95lbs.], I'M anorexic? neutral Last time I checked, I just ate two bowls of scrambled eggs this morning.

First off, there ARE skinny girls out there who will eat tons of food a day, and NOT gain a single pound. Ever thought that NPCs could have a high metabolism or they just eat the right stuff?

Second of all, THEY'RE CARTOONS. Oh, and GAIA has ALWAYS been Anime Style. In Anime, you'll see skinny girls, with huge ******** boobs. Because Anime-Fanboys love those skinny girls.

Thirdly, they're not slutty. Sasha looked like a slut BEFORE this update. I like her look NOW. She's covered up, and looking mature.

Honestly, why bawl over some pixels? All of them look AMAZING.

I think the point with this, though, is that they look like they've developed eating disorders simply because (save for Sasha) they were all heavier and more muscular originally. It's not that they're too skinny in and of themselves, just that the new artist decided that the already-thin NPCs needed to lose some weight. Some of us feel like Gaia is sending a message to the younger users that girls should not be any larger than what is shown in those pictures, since they downsized the more averagely sized characters.

I do too! I think its awesome. Just because she is a mom doesn't mean she can't be sexy too!

I just don't get it. Why do people complain about the damn NPCs looking like that? It's ANIME. It's the ANIME style. It's not gaia's fault if some user goes "Oh my gosh! They look so thin! I'm going to be anorexic!" it's the user fault for thinking that way. She could get influenced from ANYTHING outside of Gaia: Celebrities, Models, Students, People. So people need to stop saying Gaia's going to make younger women WANT to be anorexic.
