I'm actually really impressed with what they've managed to do.
I love zomg and it's a beautiful map.

Probably not going to happen, but a spectator mode for the game could make the actual game double as a hangout. I'm happy enough with what they've given though, and I know they can't really do anything with the code for the game because no one understands it.

I miss the NPCs that hung out in the areas, but I can deal.

I missed the announcement because I've stopped checking them, so I'm glad I caught this info by passing by.

I agree the zOMG map does look good. Particularly the new world map they added! I love how they connected everything together. They took the places and art they already had, found places for each thing in a naturally-spaced-apart fashion, and boom. We have our own little virtual world we can see in its entirety on one screen :{D~

Yeah this particular update is probably the ONLY anouncement I've given more than a single second's attention to because every single anouncement for the past ten months or so has been nothing but advertisement spam for things I couldn't care less about.

Why do I have a feeling that they'll take the game down, pretend to work on it for a week, then decide to scrape it all together.

They won't care about the uproar. They really won't.

That's just your disappointment in Gaia making you expect the worse. I'm sure the majority of users have it at this point. I don't blame you for feeling the way you do. I stopped playing zOMG years ago, but I hope the people that still like it get it back. Eventually :{P~

I don't really expect anything from them. Any promises they make are empty to me. It's impossible for me to believe anything they say anymore.

zOMG was the one thing on this site that I really enjoyed and it's what made me log on everyday. I was so disappointment when she shelved it, because I knew that they would never work on it again.
I really don't like the idea of Codemonkey tweaking with [ JK ]'s work just to add onto a place.
Oh how I miss [ JK ]. sad I remember the times zOMG! used to be nice... before it got blamed for the inflation in the marketplace, before the dev meat finally came to a close that used to happen every Friday, before you actually had to get GC to get potions in order to earn more gold.... and also before the limit of amount gold that you could earn was 50 k. I loved [ JK ] because he would interact with the users and now that's pretty rare to see with the people that help Gaia. He actually did care and that's something Gaia is now lacking. It gave me a positive side of playing the game and now that he's gone.. I don't even bother with playing the game anymore. It all went down the drain.
But he's in a better place now. Making/designing games worth more then what Gaia will probably ever be. I'm happy for him, but I do miss him.
Seeing this idea kind of brought up sad and good memories for me. I really don't know...

I can understand not liking one person re-arranging another person's hard work. At least we still get to enjoy it, and since virtual spaces are more visited than zOMG these days, more people will get to also :]

For all the good staff that we've lost over the years on Gaia, I hope their experience here honed their skills and talents to be better for better jobs. Sometimes I see Gaia now being like a developer such as Rareware is now. Sure, it's still got the name, but none of the minds that made it good. You just want the old team to all come back and make awesome stuff happen again :[

Glad seeing this idea brought up good memories for ya, sorry about the sad ones.
