I know Alchemy is the hot button issue right now and coding an event is an undertaking in itself but some of us love achievements. I especially love event achievements, they give me a reason to keep playing long after all of the items are obtained and make me feel like I actually accomplished something for my hours of sitting on my tushie.

Don't get me wrong, I love every event, even if it's not the best we've ever had. (Not to say this event is bad, it's just simple) That's part of being a Gaian, you take the good with the bad and endure even the worst events. I did them before achievements and I'll do them after, that little icon and number just adds the icing to the event cake. It's like a little badge that shows "I was there" and believe it or not, some of us totally dig that satisfaction of knowing that we've "completed" an event.

X-mas was too hectic to get any achievements out, I know and apparently Valentines is also a no-go on the event achievements... This kinda bugs me, I mean we had a V-day 2011 achievement for participating in the event and I'd love to see a little consistency in what we're given. A simple achievement for participating in each event is enough, it doesn't have to be a Pie-Hard quality list of random, thought out achievements. Just a little nod that acknowledges you were there and you partook in the event is what I'm saying.

So, please devs I know there are probably more important issues to tend to but don't completely pass up achievements. I know that most people don't seem to care much about them but it'd be nice just to have one per event.

EDITED TO CLARIFY MY POINTUser Image
I would be for it if there was an opt out. I kind of stopped doing events because of that. Since they have yet fixed the stupid pop up for some of us.

Wait, you stopped participating in events because the achievements pop up? I'd rather enjoy an event and deal with a few seconds of lag than miss out completely. User Image
No achievement this event
Oh well. Sucks for some people.
I don't mind too much. I don't really go for achievements.

Yeah, I'd already seen that. The lack of achievements in this event is what prompted me to make this thread.User Image

I'd like to see achievements make a come back as well. They're the whole reason I do events.

Well see they aren't even worth the effort most of time. Most of these events don't interest me at all. I don't want to collect a billion things and I am not even getting started with the alchemy bullshit.
Since we already get lots of free items, I see no point in getting an achievement too. Especially since not everyone uses the achievement system.

But some people DO use it. I don't think it would be too hard to throw in an achievement for sending a Valentine to each NPC or something. Especially considering how there's only one item in this event...
Since when did achievements become the only reason for doing events?

They certainly aren't for me, I love the events, I play they through to the end just for the satisfaction. The achievement at the end just adds the icing on the cake, proving to all that I blasted that event right out the backside and all over the walls of the event forum.User Image

I love events, I don't care if the items suck. When I start up an event, I don't evaluate things and determine if the event is worth my time. I do them, I enjoy them for what they are, to me that's part of being a Gaian. If the event blows, I can just say that I took care of that sucky event and I hope the next one is better. I can't complain and give my feedback on an event if I don't participate in it.

As for the event alchemy, I love it. Everyone harps on Alchemy for being too hard (and it is) but with events we get what everyone wants, cheap, easily obtainable components to use and gain experience. Any normal event has you working to earn an item, the alchemy route is just another way of doing this.

Some people seem to b***h about event alchemy simply because it's the cool thing to do. I've yet to find an event alchemy item that was any more difficult to craft than saving for any other event item.

I don't really care for achievements myself, but it is kinda cute to be able to put one for display if you're in that kind of mood. Sometimes I just like sticking the icons there because I had a moment that made me laugh or I had something awesome happen.
I don't see the harm in doing it.
The one for this event could've been
Unrequited Love
Send a valentine to your favorite NPC!
or something like that.

My only problem with event alchemy is having to use wing stickers to buy the formula...and honestly, I never used my stickers before then, so it's not a huge deal. Just slightly annoying. And I miss the achievements. They were more fun than just "get gold, gold, gold, one item."

I hope this isn't going to be the new trend and events ignored/forgotten about.
