Okay, first off, it's not Gaia's fault if a nine year old comes on here and decides to try smoking because they saw an avatar do the same. That is the parent's fault for letting their underage child on a PG-13 website. Second of all, your ridiculously negative approach to humanity is not making your opinion any more valid. You just come off as some angst-ridden teenager.

Most people here have less of an issue with the digital smoking as they do with Gaia's blatant censorship and lack of communication. We all know all this nonsense about "protecting the children" and our "virtual lungs" is just that: nonsense.

We deserve a valid explanation for the removal of our cigs.

And there's the whole issue of cigarettes being the beginning of a slippery slope in regards to the removal of anything else Gaia deems unhealthy or morally objectionable.

Agreed. Gaia is kind of a fantasy sight, where we can dress up our avatars in ways we wouldn't dress in real life, make them do things we wouldn't do in real life. Look at my avatar. Do you honestly think I dress like that in real life, let alone own such an outfit? I've had my avatar hold alcoholic drinks before, but I've never had more than a few sips. Hell, I have a Six Pack of Beer in my inventory, and I think beer tastes nasty as hell. Like you said, on Gaia, one can be Sherlock Holmes, Popeye, Santa Clause, Wolverine, etc. On Gaia, you can be a nicotine addicted, alcoholic stripper.

Try typing like a mature person and not a drugged trout. And if they lie, then they should take the consequences of what they might see. If I write lemons about my favorite shows, label them the right way and make sure they are archived in properly screened places, it isn't my fault someone blundered in past the safeguards and warnings and had their little minds warped because I paired up two guys and had them doing the nasty. And honestly, if someone is that impressionable enough to start smoking because of the items here on Gaia after sneaking in or are above 13 (and these days, if I recall right it's not just click a box, it's provide a birthdate that's over 13), well good for them, it'll give them something to do while waiting to win that Darwin.

Sweeping the items under the rug failed, even if the ban had stuck. The precedent for censorship was far too dangerous, even more so than a theoretical smoker.
