* This new look is for the front page that only shows up after you've logged out. When logged in, everything remains the same.

In our effort to have a more simple way of telling new users what Gaia is about, we are testing out a new layout for the front page. In talking to a lot of new users, many addressed that Gaia is really confusing for a first timer. So for next year, we'll be making changes to make things easier to use and navigate. At the same time, we're also working on the front page since that's where all new members start.

We've made some more changes to the content with your feedback.



Please give us your comments. For example:

Do the new page give a good overall aspect to what Gaia is?
Are the images too young or old?
Does it make Gaia look too much like Neopets/Myspace/other sites?
Do the design look good? Layout problems?
Anything missing? What should we add or change?
Should we emphasize more on roleplaying/forum/games/items?

I don't know how... but you SHOULD probably emphasize the forum more, becuase it looks like there are only games.

Pretty much, maybe a bit more on how it's a super-huge forum.

They look a bit old, but I guess it's fine since the site itself is PG-13

Haven't visited those site in a long time, but it looks original.

Do the design look good? Layout problems?
It looks pretty solid.

Maybe you could add a link to the weekly comic?

Probably on the MC's and the forum.

I think it looks alright. Whenever I get back. I'll add more detail as to what I think about it... I don't have net access at home and had to sneak on via my sister's PC. >__<

Should we emphasize more on roleplaying/forum/games/items? NO! Focus more on the forums damn it. They need a long over-due update already. I love the new things on the other aspects of the site but please start giving us some emphasism on the forums already. Its been years people!

I really like the first "block" the one with the guy and the red head: amazing art, and it really gives a feel of Barton Town whee

Ther only thing that I don't like is the way the info is displayed... it looks too "boxy" or too much like a "table".

Nice, MUCH better than what we got right now.

The dude is kind of retarded looking, but it's not a problem with the layout.

The middle part with the Barton town BG is larger than it needs to be. EDIT: Maybe you could merge the "join our world" thing with the town BG image with the orange join button. Saves space, reduces redundancy. 3nodding

i would say yes. mostly on the forums part because gaia is mainly a forum based site. as well as the roleplaying

That's a really nice design, and it explains Gaia very nicely. Combined with the newbie quest, new members should grasp the concept of Gaia pretty quickly, in my opinion. Great job, guys! <33

Edits: Just thought of more feedback.

- The games and avatars seem to be pretty emphasized... perhaps put a little more focus on the forums and roleplaying?

- The images look great. <33

- Gaia has never looked like Neopets or Myspace! :D It just looks like... well, like Gaia!

- The design looks good, but it doesn't really match with the rest of the layout we have now. It just seems kinda weird to me. I love the gray background, though. Kinda wish that were on the other pages. It looks nice, and it's easy on the eyes. :3

Again, awesome job, guys! Dude, if this is a hint at what future layouts might look like, then I can't wait to see them! n_n

Looks nice, great job ^^ Although the woman looks a bit old. And like most here already said, try focusing more on the forums (and perhaps items ^^) than the games.
