My new idea for using the ed: the ED pass

Here is my idea. Make a pass that cost somewhere around 5000 gold or higher inorder to use the ed. this way, it will be semi- to greatly effective at keeping n00bs out. This will happen because the n00bs will not be as likely to bother with the ed pass because of the price.

That aside, putting a "lock" on the Extended Discussion forum would be grotesquely wrong. The Administration created this site (and every forum it contains) for every users to enjoy, not only those who can toss out pixelated currency. Spending 20,000 gold doesn't deter so-called "noobs" from buying a GGN guild and turning it into their own personal bumping forum -- why would this be any different? If you feel the strong urge to spend gold just to chat with users willing to pay the same high prices, why not create your own guild?

If you're concerned about the spam in your forum, then do something about it: actively use those "report post" and "report thread" buttons, know when your forum helpers are online to move threads quickly, and don't post or flame in misplaced threads -- that only breeds more spam.

It's up to the dedicated forum regulars to keep their home forums looking good, in conjuction to moderator help. Throwing out fines and features won't act as a substitute for that mutual cooperation.

Then just report them. gonk there's nothing we can do to prevent users from going into forums; there would be too many flaws.

but will the n00b waste his cash in a ED pass? unlikely (but some would still do).

It's not a very good filter anyways, it only filters the people that DON'T wanna pay. :s and we want to filter the people that are stupid, unfortunatly stupid is a force even greater than an atomic bomb.

And besides, an effective ED pass would be granted by moderators who take a look at some one's past posts. Not by having cash. And, of course, that would not be very good for the moderators, as they have much better things to do.

How about you just deal with it. GD is the same way and so is every other forum. Ever since CB was bumped down to the second section CB users have flooded the other sections.
