Welcome to Gaia! ::

**First off I'd like to say I think the artists do a great job for the most part and I am not attacking any of them in any way. I say this because I'm probably about to use some words in a way that can be taken the wrong way. I use them as a way of correctly portraying my feelings on the matter since, as we all know, simple text is not adequate enough to do so.**

I'm sure we've all come across some item poses that are not configured correctly (i.e. those green splotches, items not layering correctly (such as socks on the outside of pants), items not being big enough to cover the entire body, etc.) and are so wrong that it totally kills any desire you have to use it. Well I've come across one that quite frankly annoys the hell out of me.

If you can't tell from the picture, the item is the Hooded Vest pose of the AFK Scarf and the hair is labeled as Girl's Wildflower Black. The issue I'm having with this pose is the bangs. Who in their right mind thought this looked right? Half the hair is under the hood and half the hair is sticking out the side. So she's only wearing the hood on the right side of her head? Or does she have her hair styled in such a way that the left half is sticking straight forward? Either way it looks really stupid. Below I will post a couple screen shots I edited.

Doesn't that look much better? Number one was taken from Tektek's dream avatar creator (with the hair sticking out the back erased). Number two is between the layering on Gaia and the layering on Tektek. What I did there was overlay the hair on the hood and then erased everything that wasn't bangs. Now, I have next to zero experience making pixel art (I may have the term wrong, I've always heard Gaia's avatars and items referred to by that) but I think it looks pretty good. At least I think it looks a hell of a lot better than Gaia's version.

I have to assume Gaia's reasoning for the lack of proper layering in this particular instance is pure laziness. For an example of where they did right, go to Tektek and put an OMG Hat over the Red Feather Wig pose of the White Drome Egg. Then do it on Gaia. They did a damn good job making sure nothing odd stuck out on that one. So why was this one so hard?

Needless to say, I would like this pose fixed. I really wanna use that hood cuz I think it's cute but with the hair sticking out the way it does it just looks so wrong that I can't get over it. It's just one of those thing where you look at it and your brain says wtf. It really does look like she has the hood tucked behind her ear and who the hell wears their hood like that?

I like nicer layering too. Heck, who doesn't?
I agree!
I hate it when I try to put a hood or something on my avatar and the friggin' hair pokes through the side of the hood.

D:<

Gaia really needs to fix this. It's little glitchy things like this that piss me off the most.

But Gaia's art team is incredibly busy making new items to fix small glitches on old ones.

You might want to leave a note about it in the Avatar Item Glitch Report Thread and see if they can look at it. But do keep in mind that they might not be able it due to how its set up on the layer or how old the item is. Also, be -very- specific as to exactly what the glitches are that you are experiencing.

I've had this happen with many hair styles under many hats/hoods/headbands/etc. I'd really like this worked on, since I've had so many ruined outfits due to that. User Image

Gosh, layering is CRAZZZZZY.
though i doubt that they check how the item layers with EVERY single hairstyle or item, so i understand the mix up

Teh Savior: That's not really a valid excuse. And besides, quality over quantity. I'm sure we can all agree that's a better way of doing things.

Mermaid Eater: Oh yeah, I totally understand it, too. If anything the purpose of this is to bring it to their attention so they can improve whatever technique they have for future items (and hopefully fix this one). 3nodding
