As you say, it's an abbreviation so in a word that is the same number of characters long it really doesn't make sense to put the k instead of the 0.

I can see what the OP is saying on this one, I went to write 2k12 on some notes the other day and realised it was pointless and I might as well put 2012.

I would guess Gaia's keeping it that was for uniformity.

I'm not opposed to it being "2k__".

The way I see it, 'k' items are primarily indicative of event items, whereas '0' items are primarily indicative of MCs, Advance Chances, etc., of their respective years. The difference in notation is my rule of thumb for searching up year-related items in the marketplace so... keeping it up would help.

It's how the separate the events from the rest of the stuff for the year. They use it for events and convention giveaways. The regular year stuff is for collectibles. Honestly, I want them to keep it that way so we can easily find the event items and not have to search through over thirty items to find that one little accessory from a past Xmas or Halloween event.
