Gaia how about showing some consistency? Updated!

Should Gaia make a better effort cleaning up the forums, town topics, and other nasty areas of the site?

Dear Gaia,

I'm sure I'm not the only one but I feel its completely unfair when one group of people are punished but another group isn't for the same crime. Why take away privileges of some groups and not all of them? Case in point, I am talking about forums like the General Discussion, forums that are just 99% spam and no longer are being used for their true intention like much of the Lifestyle Discussion and Independent/Obscure Movies & Television fourms . As well as Town topics which are mostly still used for cybering and other sexual conduct which last I check was still against the rules right? Yet this practice has been going on for years now.

Since I been here you have done away or made changes to ANY feature in which MANY MANY users were abusing. You guys took away personals, when we had Cinemas you made it friends only so users wouldn't annoy others who just wanted to watch the movies/clips without all the emote and throwing things at the screen, you took away the ability to name most of the classic game rooms so people couldn't easily cyber in them. You have deleted forums that no longer were needed and you recently made bra/panties shops a thing of the past. So where's the consistency? Why are you allowing users to continuously abused forums and features for YEARS without doing anything about it? Don't you think it has gotten out of hand and sets a bad example for new users like:

You know when I was new there I went to that form because I thought "Alright sweet this is probably where people to to talk about this that and what ever" got there and after looking around for a while almost got turned of to gaia completely. I thought "******** if this is what the people on gaia are like Im not going to waste my time here" Luckily I looked around my friend talked me into checking out some other forums and I decided to stay. General discussion though if they dont get their s**t together makes gaia look bad

See there!? Forums and features like the GD chase away the few new-new users we get! How shameful. emotion_facepalm

In closing,
I really hope you mean what you say about focusing on the community next year because I think it's time you guys stepped in and made some vast changes to MANY parts of the site and that may mean removing forums like the GD, taking away privileges, and more. So please show some backbone and consistency please and do something about these issues. Gaia should be enjoyable and fair to users, mods/FA, and everyone else.

Agreed. This is why you're seeing much more of a focus this year on fixing existing stuff (i.e., housing, towns, adjust / balance alchemy, cleanup in the forums, so on and so forth) than big new features (i.e., Bidblast).

We'll see what happens. It's only March so far.

I don't want it to be gone either and I really like the locking out new accounts, and fines for pic dropping. However, since people are referring to it as a "culture" and such I still think it should be deleted for a while. Heaven after all is just like the GD. Really if you think about Heaven can just replace the GD. They could just rename it or move it next to the ED. Less work for everyone.

People HAVE been doing that. some people just refuse to go there any more. It's not fun to be there if all you do for weeks on end is report report report, without the time to actually post a thread that works in there.

Gaia needs to step up and actually send punishments to those who think it's ok to break the TOS. If one side gets away with breaking the TOS, many are going to start following in their steps. It will happen, eventually.

After reading the current "GD base" threads and chatting in cards with other long time members. I had a finally saw a pattern.

Remember when you could e-hump people in towns? You guys did away with that.
Remember when people had "hot gurls c** cyber" in the game rooms? You did away with that.
Remember when trolls and spammers would go into cinema and annoy people trying to watch the movies? Well you made it friends only and finally got rid of that.
Bra shops? GONE
Personals? GONE
Bots? Nearly gone.

You starting to see where I'm going now? For each MAJOR feature that gets MAJORLY abused the staff here has changed the rules to make reporting easier, got rid of the feature in question, or made other changes to make it fair to use for all. Therefore why the bloody hell is the GD still around as is? We have had MANY threads about the issues and all that has happen was some rule changes and more mods yet the issues are still there. We know you have the ability to delete forums, we know you have the ability to change who can access a forum, and we know you can change for the better.

So please Gaia show some consistency and make the GD better.

Thank you. Also for those who missed the point by a long shot and fail to understand how things work around here. Once a problem gets as massive as the GD has become Gaia usually steps up either A) delete the feature or B) Make changes where people can NO LONGER abuse it.

When I joined Gaia people could go up to you in towns and e-hump you by pressing the stand kneel button over and over again. Everyone complain about it and it was used for cybering. Therefore Gaia changed it so you can only hit it twice and then it locks out for a few seconds. The mods and users got fed up with all the people naming game rooms crap like "gals looking for hoi boi c** here". So guess what now all the game rooms have user names only and the mods don't have to deal with SOOOOOO many reports. Sure it destroyed much of the chatting in there but hey no one really goes in looking to cyber. So what's this BS about the mods are human and need rest. This suggestion is to make things EASIER and fair for both users, mods, and Gaia as a whole?

I agree that GD is is bad shape and needs attention. However, it's in such bad shape that I'm really not sure there's much that can feasibly be done at this point (short of removing the forum entirely, and if that happens, the trolls from GD will just migrate to CB)
