Are you risking gaian's security again? Please no. Most gaians doesn't like facebook. why doing something like this instead of working on other things like homes?

Actually lots of Gaians like facebook, there's a huge community on it already. As for risking security... what's the basis for that statement?

facebook has a lot of issues on their apps and TOS which implies that they can sell everything you post there. plus stalkers. And this is a lot unfair for those ones (like me) who will never have a facebook account. First gambit for cash now facebook for gold, stop it, please, stop it.

Why would anybody want to buy something that says

[username] just went fishing on Gaia
?

And also, facebook profiles can be set to friends only, so there goes stalkers.
Thirdly, you can make a facebook account, its really easy. Don't even have friends, and abandon it, and nobody will know.

Fourthly, what is your problem with gambit, except for the 9 out of 10 times you get no cash, it works fine.

I personally am a great fan of this Facebook Connect idea.

Hm.
This feature doesn't seem broad enough for me and my social group.

My friends might just not understand this.

It's easy to understand the surveys and insipid gambling games but Gaia... it doesn't at all seem so strange to a member or active user, but to non members... Gaia probably looks like a really strange and awkward place website I meant to say website (architect throwback)... at least I know that it looks this way to several people I know.

I've been a user for a few years now and from the experiences I've amassed in trying to explain the dynamics of Gaiaonline to someone who doesn't really care is disheartening. And suffice to say I've felt embarrassed before.

The long forgotten Bebo/GO application was an item grabbing farce that probably yielded the results from a user base 500 gold granting survey.

With this said, I have questioned where I fit in with the demographic of Gaia.

Perhaps my social life is deteriorating. confused

Now... If I could say... PLAY zOMG on Facebook... *caugh* wink
I might no personally play zOMG on Facebook because I'd come to the site to do that, even for slots or any other game, BUT, Gaia slots or blackjack could potentially reel in new membership...

Is the point of this to draw the Facebook esque crowd into Gaia?

I personally would not use this feature.
I HATE Facebook. I literally never log on except when I get an email saying someone sent me a message. I also really don't like the idea of encouraging Gaians to post ANY info about their real lives, which is what Facebook basically is. So yeah, I really, really don't think this is a good idea at all, and I certainly will never ever use it.
I would never use it. Right now I'm on the fence as to whether I like the idea or not.
Well Gaia is turning into an Packed with viruses facebook app

oh BTW:User Image look i got a present from gaia HOW nice!

DO NOT WANT. gonk

Facebook = people i know IRL
Gaia = people i know on the internet.

They don't need to be mixing.
I have a Facebook account but I have shown some of my friends Gaia before and they said that Gaia looked like a website for little kids who were retarded.

So no I would not use it since they would not give a s**t.
Who really would anyway? Oh wow you just posted something on that website or Congrats you just saved your avatar, let your friends know by clicking on the publish button.

i don't want to use this on facebook. i hate the feed on facebook and have everyone on hidden. i can care less on what people are doing even though i constantly know some people who are wasting their time on facebook apps like farm town.

with gaia, i already have my avi badge on my facebook profile and i did use the omg gaia virtual lounge. but now, that app is not available to use on facebook at all. i would rather get that app back then have jibberish flowing in facebook's lame excuse of a site. bring back the app! confused
I see there's a lot of negative feedback for this. I don't have many qualms about it, as long as it doesn't comprise our security (and it better not!). Since I (and a large number of other Gaians) don't have Gaia friends on Facebook,* the only good thing to come from it would be the gold, which can be earned in many other ways. Although I wouldn't use it, if it's released with a choice of using it or not, I don't see too much harm coming from it. I just wish Gaia would worry more about the Gaia parts of Gaia, and not about making it part of every other website out there.

What's next? Trying to get a piece of the Twitter pie? Concentrate on Gaia, please, and not the rest of the internet.

*Yes, they're both social sites, but Facebook is aimed more at keeping in touch with people you know in real life, and Gaia is about making new internet friends. I don't want the two overlapping. That would make both sites more confusing for me.
xx-xxathenaxx-xx
I think this is a tad bit unnecessary.

A TAD?
Unless Facebook is paying Gaia, it is pretty benefitless for both programmers and users alike.
But hey, maybe it won't be so bad...I hope....

User ImageI guess "we don't want Gaia to be like Facebook" translates to "We want Gaia to merge together with Facebook" in dev language. >.>

I can see the reasoning behind it, I suppose... but we have Gaian journals for sharing things with our friends, and Facebook is stalkerish enough as it is, WITHOUT encroaching on Gaia. I dunno about everyone else, but I like that my Gaia and my Facebook have nothing to do with each other. I hope that since you're obviously going to implement this no matter what, that you'll have as little "Facebook" stuff on Gaia as possible.User Image

They don't need to be mixing.

I talk , not so much anymore, but I communicated with this friend from Gaia on MSN.
They explained in a recent conversation how they have 'left' Gaia.

So I asked if we could exchange facebook information.

This was said,

"My IRL friends may become curious as to who you are and how I know you. I would be uncomfortable telling them."

and latter added

"I don't add internet friends to facebook."
