Why wouldn't you? Really, who could it hurt? There's no reason to do it, but there's no reason not to either.

I wouldn't mind, but I have a huge issue with the gold incentive.
Some of us don't want or need Facebook, so it's a littttttle unfair.

I agree. I stay away from myspace/facebook/etc. and wouldn't want to be discluded from free gold because I choose to stay away from those sites.

I also agree that most gaians don't really like facebook =/ but I might be wrong. To me it just doesn't seem like the Gaia crowd is the same as the facebook crowd (Granted there is some over lap but still)

There is already a lot of optional stuff that gives you gold for using that optional feature like texting and some other things. Never mind just read the below quote from an earlier post by another user.

Your not being discluded from anything because you chose to pass up that feature but it's there for you to use if you wish. Keeping you from partaking in this feature against your will would be the unfair part but that's not the case.

Are you risking gaian's security again? Please no. Most gaians doesn't like facebook. why doing something like this instead of working on other things like homes?

Actually lots of Gaians like facebook, there's a huge community on it already. As for risking security... what's the basis for that statement?

facebook has a lot of issues on their apps and TOS which implies that they can sell everything you post there. plus stalkers. And this is a lot unfair for those ones (like me) who will never have a facebook account. First gambit for cash now facebook for gold, stop it, please, stop it.

You forgot texts for gold, email for gold, toolbar for gold, lots of other features that give you gold that not everyone is going to be able to use. But it's not a good reason to not do something, if we lived by that rule there'd be no flash games since not everyone can use them and it's unfair, there'd be no sponsorships since not everyone can see the vids etc...

i have toolbar installed and it grants like 21 gold more or less on once in a while, not 1k for telling a complete stranger what am I doing right now.

I don't know much about facebook but I do know about myspace and they have bulletin type stuff that only your friends can see, I'm willing to guess that these feeds will only be able to be seen by friends on facebook much like the little status messages here on Gaia can only be seen by your friends. So they wont be complete strangers because you know you are the one that chose those people to be on your friend list, so you should know them some what. Plus this is probably a lot safer than gambit.

While I do have a FB, I'm not sure if I'd really use this feature. I'd like to see it more as a widget or something for my page. The idea seems more like something I would post to my Twitter than my FB...

While I've had a Facebook account longer than a Gaia account, I doubt I will use this feature more because Gaia feels more secure than Facebook, especially after Facebook changed their TOS a while back to where they can indefinitely store your personal info. I like having both separate, unless it's a widget like the one they use to have where no info except the avatar was shown to Facebooks users.

I really like using Facebook Connect with other sites, but I doubt I'll connect my Gaia account.
It's too bad there are so many ignorant people in this thread who apparently don't understand what Connect is. It is not an app and people on Gaia can't magically find out your real name, nor does using Connect jeopardize your Gaia account.

I don't really care for Facebook, but this "IT SUX CUZ ITS POPULAR WE DUN WAN IT" mentality is really old.

I won't be using the feature, as I don't log onto my FB anymore. I lost interest after they did away with the networks. But as long as the gold grants aren't outrageous, I won't be bothered by it being offered to those who actually want it.

yeah, i definitely don't like the idea of giving gold to people who use something that i wouldn't touch if my life depended on it. this is just really unnecessary, and sounds more like a ploy to try and get those non-gaian facebook friends to join gaia out of curiosity. it's a waste of resources.

I like the idea
as it is optional, it shouldn't bother the people who won't use it
and the people with fb accounts can have the option to share their gaia news with their non-gaia friends
