I doubt there's a well planned story behind the nightmare, seeing that each evolution will be done by a different artist. Some people do fear lions and a lion is a symbol of courage, which could fit near the end of the nightmare in a way...if there was a story.

Some people are afraid long words (Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia) does that mean we'll get a pose where the avatar box is filled with text? No. Just because some people are afraid of something doesn't mean that it'll be in this EI.

Also, we don't even know if it's about fears for sure yet. It hasn't evolved. You can't just jump to "this EI will have lions because people are afraid of them and this EI is all about fear". I mean, it could end up being more about darkness than fear itself. Or about badass demon horses. whee

It's a story. Just finished by somebody else.

You post one part of a sentance, then somebody else finishes it a bit, then somebody else gives sort of a "but" or "and" and it continues on ninja
But this time, no words, but pictures, and open to interpretation by the artists. :3

the nightmare is all the artist's interpretation of the nightmare theme.. so I am pretty sure it will be pretty random at what you are gonna get~ *just can't wait to see what it comes as next*

and unfortunately it should evolve every 2 weeks like every normal 749 item >.>; the thing in the announcement is wrong..

True, I'd give it a couple (if not more depending on who you are) to know for sure what direction that the EI will go. If anything right now its just a guessing game (has it been confirmed that everyone will do a stage or am I just being slow lately?) I got a Western Impression when I first saw it sweatdrop

I really like how The Nightmare started out, I can't wait to see an evolution from it soon. I hope the story is about the Greek myth about how Sleep and dreams came to be.

I'm hoping that it won't be as random as "OMG, LIONS ARE SCARY, LETS THROW ONE IN THERE", because that'll just be annoying.

I'm hoping for a screaming mouth pose and maybe some bloodshot eyes as poses.

I'd never imagine an artist to be so random and just throw at us a random lion. All the artists will prolly have a story to tell with the nightmare.
Though if it was spontanious, my guess is it would be suki to bring us the scary lion. lol

Some sort of creepy animal (maybe a cthulhu?) from drinkytengu

I do not know but I am looking forward to hopefully seeing EVERY GAIA staff member who works on ITEMS or EIs to take a turn..... We have not seen EI work from CP in a LOOOOONG time

And even If I like Lions...it's not fitting. For many, many reasons. The stated above, yes, and some other more:
1] First Stage never decides the future of the item or is a clear sign of what it will be.
2] The name doesn't always tells exactly the theme, and that's the good thing about EI's.
3] Logical relations always FAIL when it comes to EI...our artists are crazy, don't you forget about that xd
4] Talking about the future of an EI on their first stage is just useless unless you're me D:

I'd bet on the Masquerade for those. I think the madness aspect of that hasn't really started yet, so it will probably build "gradually", as promised. Which means that we'll likely see the signs of your avatar being mad before the actual weird stuff starts showing itself.
