I lurk a lot in this forum and I think it's rather funny to see everybody saying that if this had been a cash shop update they would have bought the items from there. Granted some of you probably would, but I'm fairly sure that if this had been a CS update SF would now have swamped with threads saying it should have been gold shop update....

Personally the only thing I have against RIG's is the frequency with which they're released. It used to be really exciting, now I just wait for tektek to list all the items and then decide whether I'm going to bother to buy one or not. Or whether I'll just start a quest for the one item in the box I actually want.

As for the RIG's themselves; this one is supposed to be a gameboy, it would be nice if you could actually play a little game and based on the results you get an item. That's kind of what the description implies anyway. Now it's just random chance again and while it does suck to get something you don't want I actually like the chance element, because this way I get items, and as a result of that avatars, which I never would have bought myself.

For example last time the emerald seed granted me a rose rapier. I would never have bought it myself, but it turned out to work perfectly with my fremere's guard in one avatar. So I'm happy I got it.

@Creatureofhabit
RIC stand for Random Item Generators.
Aka chance item bundle thingies like Famestar and Emerald Seed =3=

Thank you for explaining.

I agree. I would like to see some of those items in the cs. I don't like getting crap from these RIGs, most of the time I do from them. I have wasted a lot of money buying them.

Chill of Artemis - throw in the cash shop... stuff like this.

I would rather them be in the cash shop. It gives every one a fair chance at getting exactly what they want.

Being an item whore, I would buy them all regardless of if I liked them and I am sure there are quite a few others as well.

As it stand, I will not spend money on RIGs so you have lost at least $100.00 from me, Gaia.
Although right now I am financially strapped, I guarantee that when I had last purchased a Cash Card ($25) that I would have purchased at least two more so I could get enough wed to darknesses to wear all of the poses. However, I did not think there would be prom items, since there have been so many RIGs. If Gaia starts to release more straight to CS or straight to gold shop items, I would be more likely to purchase more GCash if I knew I could get exactly what I want with the GCash purchased.
I've posted this idea a few times but been soundly ignored each time ... here it goes again ...

Release RIG items individually in the CS 6 - 12 months after the RIG leaves the store.

AIers have ample time to get rich, those that like the thrill of the new and random items they get can have their fun and the people that want one specific item can also be happy (albeit some time down the line)

I'm not going to get into it with anyone here over this because I have neither the time nor the fortitude, but I must say that I agree with the OP wholeheartedly.

Even though I'm broke right now I would have spent my grocery money on a kitty mouth, ears, and a sweat drop at the very minimum, but as it stands I won't be buying a thing. If the prices ever drop to within reasonable on the Marketplace I'll get them there, but I don't have high hopes for that happening. Sorry Gaia, I'm keeping my money until you do the right thing.

I actually like this idea. T__T
Although it's kinda bad in a way that people
who bought the RIGs in the first place
won't get the rarity anymore when it gets rereleased
and what's to stop people from just waiting until the
rerelease before buying.

But this idea certainly has merit 8D

For the most part I've noticed the rarity appeal of the items fades after that 6 - 12 month period.

O_< Gaians have short attention spans.
However the AI-ers would be mad though...
since their hoarded RIGs would be worthless
if they did the re-release XD
Then they'll be the ones complaining.
Let them.

Unless I'm greatly mistaken the most profit on a RIG item would be made in the first few weeks of the RIGs release with the price falling slowly after that initial boost while it settles into a stable price. Gaia could then use that stable price as a guide for the pricing in the CS - some of the rarest items I could see going for $25+ in the cash shop. It keeps the price up there and still worthwhile but more attainable for those who really want the item for how the item looks.
Yes some new stuff the the daily prizes would be nice

I know I lurk more than post but I still consider myself an SFer! gonk And I'm not ashamed. Please don't speak for everyone.

I happen to love RIGs..... even though I blow way too much money on them.

I thought it was understood that in order to battle the AIing of things like Mercury's Moon, more RIGs would have to be released to make them a little more common.

Or they could just release them into the CS.

******** item rarity. I'm willing to bet that most people want items, such as Mercury's Moon, for aesthetic purposes, not because it's super rare.

Agreed. I want items to complete a certain look, which is why items that spoof or look similar to anime characters are so popular with me. I don't CARE about the rarity, & I'm not an elitist, even though I've been on Gaia since it started, practically. I would pay any amount of gold or Cash for something, as long as I have the CHANCE to do so. I hate RIGS mostly because they're not permanent fixtures in the Cash Shop. Once they're gone, that item I just have to have inflates so much that I know I'll never get it.

I propose that if Gaia wants to continue making RIGS, make them permanent in the CS so that users can keep pouring money into them over time until they get what they want.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!
It looks like the majority of people who visited would buy directly.
I think Gaia should make an official poll.

Geeze, that's a lot of no more RIG votes. D:
But still they are probably making tons of money off this, and you have to figure that more than half of the people that voted will probably buy the RIGS any way.

I'll buy like one RIG from the Marketplace, and if I fail, I just give up. razz
I think Gaia really should make an official poll, though.
