In your new RIG, is probably ever item every user on the Site Feedback forum has requested. I myself have wanted the "wink" item since I joined Gaia. And now, it's in another RIG?! You were doing so GOOD, Gaia! Monthly Collectible quality went up! Gold shop items were looking amazing! You've been listening to what we want! And obviously, you've been ignoring everything about RIGS.

If you put ALL those items directlly into the Cash Shop, you'd be filthly rich. I would pay a full $10 for a wink pose, or that old Gaian item.

I am shocked, and pissed off with you at the moment. :l Learn to listen to your users about RIGs. You'd get way more money putting them directly into the cash shop. Yeah, I sound like a brat. But we deserve to. You know about artifical inflators, and you are ignoring what we are saying about them. THANKS, A LOT.

//end rant.

Edit - Summed up, your users would like items straight to Cash Shop. If you're unsure on this, make an official poll. We'd like a developer response to see the status on the GeeBoi Turbo.

If you haven't seen it yet, this is the link to the leak.

OK, I'll bite. wink Cash items are a special part of Gaia, and the decisions are made more by the business side than the developers (like Fleep & Pan) who make it happen.

As one of the first posters pointed out, we do look at the numbers and make decisions about what new cash items to develop based on what sells. Unfortunately, what people say in a poll is often different from what people do with their money. So, in this case, no matter how many users claim they would buy these items directly in the cash shop, all that really matters is how many people actually buy stuff. If you want to vote with your dollars, buy the non-MC, non-EI, non-RIG items from the cash shop...we add some every couple of months and they never seem to sell quite as well. I can think of a few cash items we introduced where people complained loudly that we charge too much for a single-pose or limited pose item.

We do try to make sure that the items most people want are common enough to be attainable in the marketplace, but the RIGs also let us put out items that are designed to be extremely rare (and therefore extremely valuable). It is impossible for us to sell extremely rare items directly in the cash shop, because then we have no way of controlling the quantity, and by definition they become less rare and less valuable.

The plan for RIGs, as you will see with this next one, is to make the process of getting your item more entertaining as well. So that even if you don't get the prize you want, you got to play a little game, watch a little story unfold, or some other kind of special little experience you can't get elsewhere on the site. Looking back, the first RIGs were things like 'bag-o-win' where you just opened it and got a random amount of gold. Lately, RIGs like the emerald seed, repo lamp and the famestar tickets introduced a little bit of storyline and characters to the item interaction. We plan to continue that trend so that RIGs are not *just* about prizes, but the process is also fun.

Edit: oh yeah, and we do plan to repeat items from RIGs. i.e. some of the items from previous RIGs could be in the next one, or put into bundles, or other ways of being distributed, as long as we have some control over the quantitiy and rarity of the items.

Now, we want a REAL test. Release a good RIG item, that would be AI'd, into the cash shop. See what your people do, Gaia.
I know!!!!!!

Why couldn't they put all the items in for $10 each they would be sooo rich

I'm disappointed, too, but I'm sure Gaia's looked at their sales numbers, done the math, and found that they'd get more money coming in from the RiGs than by putting the items directly in the Cash Shop.

If only we, as users, would stop buying them and prove them wrong...

I know I lurk more than post but I still consider myself an SFer! gonk And I'm not ashamed. Please don't speak for everyone.

I happen to love RIGs..... even though I blow way too much money on them.

I thought it was understood that in order to battle the AIing of things like Mercury's Moon, more RIGs would have to be released to make them a little more common.

there's no proof that direct to CS is more profitable, but there's no proof that it's not, because they've never done it with items of that quantity and quality

i want them to try it, just once, for the love of god
"...like every other SFer..." Sheesh, go ahead and speak for the entire world on the topic of religion next.
I'm not extremely disappointed at this. Yes, RIGs are rather annoying. Hell, I never win ANYTHING from them. But the items are going to be there, and we don't know the drop rates yet, so I'd suggest holding your bawwwing until there's something to genuinely bawww at.

THIS. FOR ******** SAKE THIS!

They havn't even tried. They dont ******** KNOW they would make less money because they never ******** TRIED.
Yeah I think we should wait and see what happens things might not be so bad.

I know. It's still possible for them to try it this time, since it WAS a sneak-peek... I agree with what you said on Goverment Toast's thread. I'm buying the bundle, selling them individually, and buying the wink.

This fricking this. The people that come into SF and tell me that CLEARLY Gaia makes more money this way drive me nuts, because they haven't tried the alternate method so there's no proof one way or another.
Gaia needs to at least TRY releasing them straight into the Cash Shop!
I mean, seriously. We need to know how much they got for Fondue and Sundae, because they definitly probably got a lot from that.
You'd think that they'd relize that when they release good event items into the CS, and they do good, that they'd at least try it with what they'd put in RIGs.
Has anyone thought that... the new Prom Items were actually a trial to see if Good Cash Shop items sell more than RIGs?

I mean, all those items would be suspected to be in a RIG. I mean, look at Wed to Darkness! That could have been in the RIG! But they gave it for 749GC.

Maybe... the prom items were a test?

My guess. But I'm pretty excited for this RIG. I should get a cash card tomorrow.

This. I'm not ashamed, and I do buy a lot of RIGs. I usually end up buying two bundles; one I open almost all of them myself, and the other I sell off.

And Gaia has released plenty of items straight to the Cash Shop. Recolors of the Dashing Set/recolors of the Magical Schoolgirl, ALL of the holiday-themed updates...

They probably have noticed a distinct spike in CS sales around certain events; EI releases, the 15th of the month, and RIG releases. They're in the business to make money, not to kowtow to us. They're going to release items that they know will be profitable. (i.e., there's no way they would release these in the Gold Shops, as they wouldn't make very much direct profit from it. And by putting it in a RIG, they get the money of people who are trying to get a specific item and keep trying until they do.)

Or they could just release them into the CS.

******** item rarity. I'm willing to bet that most people want items, such as Mercury's Moon, for aesthetic purposes, not because it's super rare.

If they're a test, they're a poorly-run one. The items are great, but the quantity and range of styles is in no way comparable to a RIG and the items haven't been out long enough to get any kind of reliable data.
There hasn't been a RIG-scale CS update since...well, since the CS OPENED.
