Welcome to Gaia! ::

I personally agree with the premise of this thread.

I could care less about both the skins, but I do believe there should be an all or nothing.

I understand why Gaia is taking away the losers' skins. In the past, most people, including my self, stop going to the event when they have earned all the achievements. This means that an event starts strong on the first day, but gradually declines as the event wears on and people get the items for themselves and, in some occasions, their mules.

But to take away an already given item, does not go with the spirit of Gaia at all. I would think that event items should stay in the accounts, but the "winners" get something extra. Rather it is a bit more gold in their account or a special event related item.

Now, if the the skins were the intentional end of game prize, it would have been much more prudent to do something such as this:

What Gaia Could Have Said
Welcome to the Halloween Event! This will be a competition between B.O.O and S.I.N. There will be event items given out at hallmark achievements, but if your side wins, you will receive a super special skin that relates to your side. (Don't show the skins, make it a surprise because some people joined their sides because they liked the skin.)

This senario would bring about the optimum in fairness. Though, still someone is going to be unhappy. But I think that the skins being a prize to not be handed out to the end would have been the most prudent course of action.

It would have certainly gotten people stressed out over a bundle of pixels.
I dunno if I totally agree with this idea.

I mean, what happened to reward and consequence? It's incentive to play the game if there is both a reward if you win, and a consequence if you don't win.

There are always going to be some people unhappy and throwing these tantrums, even if this idea gets put into effect.

I just hope people aren't sore losers, and arrogant winners.

Exactly, they are just trying to get more people to play by giving them a REASON to, like in this case its that if your side wins then you get a cool new skin.

the winners arent "winning a cool new skin" they're avoiding getting that skin taken away from them.

Which means this whole skin buisness is a PUNISHMENT to the LOSERS. It's nothing for the winners, because they arent gaining or losing anything.

I don't like the fact that Gaia is punishing the losers rather than rewarding the winners.
It's much more bitter environment, in my opinion at least. =/

Gaia gave us all these skins already. We get to play with them, we get to see what outfits, combination, whatever work for them. And individual can work as hard as they can, and they can still lose that skin.

It's not like getting a box of new clothes and not getting to keep the box. It's more like getting that box of clothes, and gaia taking away YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF CLOTHING FROM THAT BOX. After you've had a chance to wear it, and find out what accessories go good with it.

It's just no fun when something you really like, and already had a chance to play with gets yanked away from you, even when you personally have done all you can to keep it.

This is true though,
Yes I understand your point of them giving it to the losers and right when they find something to match it take it away, No matter how they decided to do this event there would have been a downside, So some people would have been unhappy about it, I can almost guarantee that if they just said "and if you win you get a new skin!" and maybe have a picture of it on the announcement then someone would be upset that they couldn't try it on or keep it through the event.

I think that by now it's too late for this idea to work. Gaia said very clearly that the winning side would get to keep their skins. To change that now would be going back on something they had said, and would betray the user's trust, causing alot of threads around here that read something along the lines of "well gaia lied to us again."

It's become pretty plain though that in future events this particular method won't work well again. I'd rather have had it if they had one item, and not two team-specific items, but just one item to give to the members of the winning side. They did that in the rejected olympics event I think, but the problem was it just wasn't a very worthwhile item in the end.

It is my personal opinion that both of this year's skins should be moved to skin tyte- whether available for cash or gold, whether expensive or cheap, whether the winning team keeps theirs for free or not, I honestly don't care; I just don't like the idea of gaia having an item available at one point, then taking it away completely.

But its useless, I'm useless against them... They are beating me with ease...

They already did. ATA last year they stated that they wanted all future skins to be available to every one.

You can't trust what they say on anything.

Which is exactly why the last thing they need is one more reason for us to distrust them. I prefer to think that they already have a compromise (or loophole, however you want to look at it) planned in which they will technically keep their word both for last year's promise and this year's: i.e., they will move the losing skin to a shop. But I could just be overly optimistic on this.

I doubt it, just because they don't seem to care to much about going back on their word these days.
If that does happen. I'll be surprised.

If Gaia could keep its word, I'd be surprised.
I dont see anybody on here who actually likes the skins...i like the skin because it goes with my avatar. I think anybody who gets caught and reported for whining should be banned from the event is that fair?

Sing it, sister! D:

Gaia spoils it's users a little too much, I think. Not that I am completely opposed. I just do not look forward to all the butt-hurt whining.

Quite personally, I could live without both skins. I'm not too crazy about them so maybe I am a little bias in my opinion. But, well, I really don't want to see the whining. Gaia needs to take a chill pill. xd

Oh, well. What happens, happens. I've learned not to get all worked up over things on gaia long time ago. X3

the game is rigged. period.

the game is rigged. period.

Not saying it is or if it isn't however I have not seen any hard proof to back this up.

On topic:

Good sportsmanship, is that really so hard for people to practice? or must people continue to act like self entitled spoiled brats?

So youre saying that the best way to handle people is just to break down and give up on the entire event?

It sounds like you are whining about whiners, by your logic your account should just be removed because ******** it your not going to be happy unless you get what you want. Its almost like people are rationally self interested or something. Craaaaazy.

No you are just misreading me.

When the event is over we all get the skins removed from our accounts.

That is also "fair".
No it isn't. It its only fair if one side wins and one side loses. Youre method is just called the "Give up and cry" method.

After the super bowl does the NFL just say ******** it reduce the score to 0 because people are going to be angry no matter who wins?

If one side wins they should win because thats how the event was presented to us. If SIN wins and BOO does not and gee BOO still worked hard so they get it anyway then I WASTED MY TIME.

Wait, so you're playing to take away something from someone else? Let's go back to your Superbowl analogy.

Does the loser of the Superbowl have to sell its mascot or uniforms? Of course not. The winner gets all the prestige and the ring, but the loser doesn't get PUNISHED for making it to the Superbowl and losing to a better team.

In a fair fight, you reward the winner. Gaia's not rewarding the winner in this case, they're just punishing the loser.

No offense but...this sounds like a little bit of user feedback to me :/

Aaaaaanyways, I have to disagree, why let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch? I'm pretty positive that every single time we've had a team vs. team event there's ALWAYS been threads crying fowl or it being staged.

Next, take into perspective that a certain artist worked very hard on those skins for this event. And even if it might eventually get placed in a RIG, CS, Skin Tyte....etc...essentially that's time wasted and well...a bit ungrateful in my opinion. Especially when all the artists have worked so hard to make this event so amazing

Third, both teams have worked fairly hard, and a majourity most likely, for those skins. And whether some like it or not...getting rid of both would definitely cause more harm then good and and would ruin a fairly important part of an event (that is...rewards)

I'm not going to lie, I'd be a little sad if I lost the skin but, eventually like the rest of the userbase...I'd move on. People will be peeved for the first few days but after awhile, they'll just learn to move on. 3nodding
Your idea is terriable as it would have everone being pissed off at the admins over the loss of a item they got through legit means instead of about half the site (I think having one side or the other lose their skin was a bad but thats beside the point) being pissed for the same reason.
