Gaia = Facebook? I hope not. I hate the way Facebook has their site. I prefer the big bubbles rather than some little tiny number at the bottom of my screen. I do a lot over PMs, so for me to not see that I have a new PM is rather annoying. And I can see myself not seeing that it's there.

Also. What's with the logo? It looks lame, and made in Paint. I don't even like the current logo, and you made it worse.

I don't come to Gaia as an alternative to Facebook or Myspace. I come to Gaia because it is Gaia. I love the current quirkiness. Nothing is broken, so why "fix" it?

I really hate floating footers; I love the quirky way my avatar tells me I have messages. It is also easier for me to read. On Facebook, I do not use the footer because I cannot see well enough, it compresses the amount I can see on the screen (I am forced to use larger ics and text to see) and it looks horribly tacky. If you switch in this footer, I won't be returning often. What's the point of a site that uses features I cannot see? That's why I removed my Facebook account.

In the future, making a thread like this to gauge user opinions BEFORE you do the "hard work" might be an idea? If you really cared for our opinion, then you would have polled us all first.

Footers are the devil. THE DEVIL. No joke. But seriously, they're just annoying.
They make the page look smaller and condensed; it makes it look cluttery, because instead of having a nice, simple, organized, little header at the top, an area which can connect you everywhere and anywhere you want, you have it all around you.

To be honest, I think the new layout planned looks pretty gross. Why do we need a new one anyway? The header now is PERFECT. We can get to everything we need in one spot, AND WE HAVE OUR BUBBLES. Why do you take them away every, single time and then get surprised when we cry to have them back?

By God. I never thought I would dislike gaia to this point.
The "PM bubble is at the top of the page" thing is moot because pages load at the top of the page. The bubble would be the first thing we see. The rare event bubble sure you can get rid off because the box is moving around but the footer is small and hardly noticeable. When I say complaining I don't mean the minority I mean the majority of the users. sure you can't please them all but are you making assumptions about what people would like?

Floating footer? Sounds irritating. D: I prefer Gaia as a forum site, I don't want some friends to be able to whip up a list and see I'm online and send me PMs to try and get me to engage in terrible RPs with them. ._. No floating footer. New layout is fine. Annoying s**t that pops up at the bottom of my screen and won't go away and is intrusive until I click something to get rid of it is not fine.

PLEASE don't take away the bubbles... PMs, trades, etc... that's where they belong. I don't mind the floating footer thing, but I don't want that to be where my notifications go. I don't want to be checking that footer constantly for a PM if I'm having a conversation with someone that way.

I don't really care if the town map goes away, and you can change and update all you want, but the bubbles are something unique to gaia. Just... please leave that alone ;-;

edit: After looking over the "new header" again... I can honesty say I detest it. All my reasons for disliking it have been said already... I guess I don't see the point of tweaking the overall look of the site. Again. Please take user feedback into consideration since you're asking for it anyway.

Asking for opinions but going through with your original plan is unprofessional. If a snack company changed the flavor of a well loved food, they nearly always do tests and see how the reception of the updated flavor goes. If the majority hates it the company trashes the updated flavor and goes back to normal. If the majority loves it then tadaa, new flavor! If gaia wants to call itself a company they need to act like it and treat the users like customers.

Oh, and I can't help noticing they're bringing back that awful, horrible garish purple for the footer that used to separate all the posts in that bar I was so glad they got rid of. You know, when they switched to the handy drop-down menus.

Purple clashes with the rest of the site and with most avatars. D<

Edit: Oh gods, I just noticed the "Refill" button next to the Cash thing.

Gaia, that just looks desperate and weird. Change it to the Need Gold?/Need Cash? button. :/

Why, I remember the bubbles were an insanely cute (yes, to that extent) feature of gaia. What's next gaia? Remove the manga?

My, my. As much as I want to be polite about this I think the header looks like something someone could create in paint in five minutes. The box on the left side especially that puts the logo into a block I find utterly visually unappealing. Also MagicalMeowe said, without the map there is a huge empty space which just looks ugly without anything.

Second of all, floating footers are a huge no. They are a nuisance and tend to get in the way of things. The bubbles are just as fine as they are for notifications not to mention footers tend to slow things down. I don't know about anyone else, but I have annoying lag time with the ones on Facebook alone and I have a decently fast connection. I doubt here will be any different if that change happens.

Although what I'm most annoyed about is that you seem to be deciding to do this before asking opinions from not only users but moderators and other people who actually use the system as well. Considering I've read multiple complaints about it hindering moderating abilities, I find it quite stupid that you don't simply take the time to ask at least them about it. You know, so they can do their jobs.

Overall, I really dislike this. Plus, don't you guys have a million other things that you could be fixing that aren't broken? (Homes, Jigsaw, Towns, etc? Must I go on?)

Also, notification bubble is for notifications. Let's not needlessly complicate things.
