I thought the header was fine, but getting rid of the world map? I hop they'll be something else there...the new header looks so...I don't know...empty looking. And please, please, PLEASE make it so that notifications are up top, the font at the bottom is so small...I'll barely be able to see it

Thanks for putting back the friends module but...

*blink* *blink* Dudes...staff...devs....Most people don't look at the bottom of a webpage like that, 'cause, you know, the browser's toolbar's tend to be at the top. I'm still getting used to looking at the bottom of the page to see the specific newest announcements. Turn that footer into a header please! Or make an option to turn that footer into a header or something.

Oh and...where the hell's my Gaia Map? ninja If you don't wanna keep it there, put something else there... No, get your heads out of that pile of money, not advertisements. Looks like there's a huge space there. Put the "footer" on the right side of the page maybes?

The majority of Gaia's female shopkeeper's can't pay the fine for standing up straight and facing directly forward when running their shops. Like normal shopkeepers. Newest Example.
Footer release notes here!
My only concern is can we have the option to turnoff the footer-bar-thingy? Because I'm not all that sure if I'll end up liking it or not sweatdrop And I know the first thing out of peoples mouths when it's released will be 'can I have the option to turn it off?', so why not beat them to it? wink

EDIT: Oh, and please leave pms/comments/etc. IN THE BUBBLE. I will never notice it in the footer even if I were to leave it on. Or allow the option, whatever is more convenient.

Don't go wasting your iiitems, lay all your junk on meee~ =D

i think i would rather have everything still in the bubble next to my avatar. I like that better and it's more convenient. The GIM should be at the bottom though, that would be better.

RIP Sumi Oshiu, my Vegeta Twin

I really don't like the footer, i like having all my alerts together in the speech bubble. It works fine as it is.

cool

Personally... I, like posters before me, am apprehensive about the footer. I don't like floating stuff on my pages.

I've never seen a floating object that wasn't horribly intrusive to the site experience.

Though.. I suppose I could live with it. Just please, if you are going to release it, make it so that the name bit is purple, not blue D: It looks out of place.

Could it be optional?
Such a thing could be beneficial, but at the same time..... It looks like it would be annoying.

"You're god, but are you that good?"
Take away the world?
This disappoints me.

That's me B****ES! He's MINE so NYAA razz

I hate it. I have a facebook account and that is by far my most hated feature. I like how gaia is right now and don't think it should be changed. It looks better and is more functional than that design.

I don't mind the footer, actually. It'll take a little bit of getting used to, like it did on facebook, but it's fine.

However, the part up top? Where the logo and gold and such are? That is UGLY. I'm sorry I have to be so blunt, but that is possibly the worst thing I've ever seen on a website as professional as Gaia. I like the header as it is right now. If you want to remove the world map, that's okay. But please, I beg of you, don't replace it with that thing you've mocked up there.

background: can we please have an option to change the default to somewhere else? barton gets awfully boring after awhile.

The goal is to have the header and footer change thematically for events. Right now, the header background changes with the section of the site you're in and any event. The goal is to have the footer do the same (although initially it will only be purple-themed).
Those of you with browser-extensions and CSS skillz can write your own CSS for the header/footer (which can also be used to hide/disable things).
»ĘмǿЯέжĨç~ÞĨмþ«

actually, i meant to set other areas' header backgrounds (like the oh-so-pretty fishing hole one) to take over the default areas (like each of the main pages for example) instead of having barton there all the time.

on another note about the footer:
I had a tiny lap-top before and i'm sure at least a few users out there have one right now (i seem to remember something about lanzer having one too). the problem with tiny lap-tops is that they have tiny screens. the problem with tiny screens is that each and every toolbar takes up space on the browser. the one I had came with 3 different toolbars; bookmarks toolbar, a yahoo one, and some other one that i took off.
as of right there, most of the screen was taken up by: firefox 3's navigation bar, bookmark bar, the windows taskbar, and those other 2 toolbars.
after that, I downloaded the gaia and tektek ones because i find both highly useful. the problem came that more of the screen was taken up by bars than the actual content within the browser (even hiding the tektek one didn't make it much better). now, if you want to add all of those together and then add a floating footer on top of that, i would have probably just given up on the site until i traded it in for a desktop. it was a nice computer, so i was reluctant to return it for a long while there. Hell, if i held my mouse over my gaia with it being at the very top of the screen, i wouldn't be able to get to anything below friends. It really was that bad.

while i'm willing to at least give it a try now that I have an actual desktop again, i have to admit that it looks a lot nicer in those images Like OMFG posted a few pages ago. it looks nice and neat while finally giving an actual purpose to the rest of that bar.

I HAS AN AUTO-FORMAT TOO! SEE?

Instead of "working hard" on a header design and footer, why not do a mock-up first and see what we think about the general concept BEFORE you put the effort into it?

You say it's "coming soon," kind of suggesting that "We don't care if you don't like it, it's already on its way~"

Floating bar = annoying. I don't like it on facebook and I'm not going to like it on here.

I don't like the "minimalist" look. Gaia should have a homey, comfy, lived-in look . . . which y'all lost back in 2005. Instead of warm colors, most of every page is white space with cool gray/purple "steel" borders. The shops are the same way. It doesn't look like a shop - it looks like a webpage with a manga character thrown in.

QFE- I really used to like how Gaia used to look, it looked like a manga and anime site with all the great colors and frankly, it just simply looked cool. Now it looks like a business, you just don't FEEL like it's a world, you feel like it's the internet. to put it bluntly, My sleek slightly edited by me browser is more visually appealing then gaia is anymore, since you just feel like it's not static, it's personal, do try to at least match up to the appearance of the browser I used to get here. Gaia is a site about art and animation, do you think you could come up with something truly amazing looking?
