Welcome to Gaia! ::

I'm glad they took the user's feedback to heart and kept the PM notifications at the top. I hope the Comment notifications will still be up there as well.

In the end, I hope they make the footer optional for those of us that don't want it. That way those that do want it can have it as well. Total win/win.
Comment:
I really want the old dropdown on shop back. It took longer to go to a certain shop and trade.
Suggestion:
Add to cart or drag and drop in selling/trashing items in the inventory.
Thanks!
The bubble is just another great thing about gaia that you'd be snatching away. Hopefully I'll have quit before you ever implement this, as the last thing I want to see is this ridiculous footer idea. :[
the bubble has always been there :c its one of the ONLY things that gaia hasnt changed, and i dont think they should.

why do you want to change this site so much, was it not good the way it was?

If you had any remote idea of the lag it will cause for people who have not-so-decent computers and/or multiple tab browse Gaia, then you'd be 'pissing your pants' as well. :/

Seeing as it uses Ajax/CSS and not flash or a java applet, i don't see how it could possible lag. then again Gaians love to jump to conclusions.

You shouldn't take your proof from the source code since you can't read the PHP and the mySQL queries attached to it.

And considering I've built my own computers since middle school, I should know what can and can't lag my computer. :/ The footer is floating, which has it's own coding to scroll with the page, then you have the buttons itself, which have scripting in order to work properly, then scripting the notifications and whatnot, see where I'm going?

So much scripting for a 1024x30 toolbar will cause lag, it will for sure glitch upon launch, and will more than likely eat up the bandwidth Gaia runs on more, which means more money issues. ^_^ Considering there is less than 30 positive nods to this idea in the thread, I'm pretty sure that fixing what isn't broken is considered ridiculous. You saying that our word should be regarded as the world of God is rather offending, considering this is a feedback thread and we're giving feedback. And it's been proven that half our points were overlooked, so yes, I will stand up to make sure my point is made clear.

Scripting a floating footer in 1999 and today are VERY different. While you may have been building computers, some of us have been keeping up with actual web design advances. If you're saying i cant tell if something will lag because i don't have access to the code then these people cannot say so without trying it either. My feedback is that i WOULD like to try something new and give it CHANCE for it to work out. I'm pretty sure they change things with a reason, such as new features to better enhance our experience, and maybe somethings they want to introduced can only be done with a new bar, and frankly i find the attitude of the SF regarding ANYTHING NEW is ******** ridiculous.

1. hate footers. with a passion. I don't need to "try it out" to tell you that.I've been on enough sites already to know I hate the whole concept, regardless of what you do with it. If you do it, please at least give us a way to turn it off. I guarantee that's the first thing I'll do.

2. I like the map, and I'd hate to see it gone.

3. I like announcements, comments, PM's and comments on the header. it's obvious when something comes up, and that's something I've always liked. Facebook started doing a little (1) whenever someone sent a message, and guess what? nobody notices when they have messages anymore. Please, I'm begging you, don't change the speech-bubble style of notifications. it works great, and there's no reason to change it.

⟣˳First off, love the new floating footer! Great idea! As for the new header, the only thing I don't like is the Gaia logo. I like the way it is now, so please don't change it. Friends module was sorly missed, so thank for bringing that back.

I doubt many people used the World Map anyway. There have been so many shortcuts created that really it's just obsolete. Though I do wish that it would be updated with all the changes and addition of zOMG.

I have no problem with that. It'll take time to get used to looking down to see if I got a PM. It's great becuase then I don't have to get all excited thinking it's an announcment ^.^;; but maybe you can have the icon glow when there's a new PM besides this "pop". Unless that's what you mean...

I have a problem with having to look down to see some of my updates, but as long as there's a clear pop up then I don't think I'll have too much of a problem with it.
I'm all for removing the mini world map on the Gaiaonline header/GUI since it would increase loading times and optimization is always good but I think the world map should still exist perhaps just have a method like "World> World Map". It's pretty important to have the world map and a lot of users would feel upset to see it go.

The fixed/floating bottom bar seems very Facebook style and I and many others dislike the whole Facebook thing you may experiment with it for user testing but I doubt it will get much attention. The other problem with having a fixed/floating bar on the bottom it will reduce the users display space on forums other site pages. It would be more suitable to have it on the top in a predefined position.

P,S can we please get a new short cut added for "my clan" because right now doing this is path "Community -> Clans -> My Clan -> Clan Forum" is lengthy is tedious.

No no no. I don't like the idea of looking down to see updated things. It feels cluttered to have things at both the top and the bottom. My avatar lives at the top, so should my notifications and anything else. I really do not like the idea of a footer. I think they're ugly.

While I'll miss the map, if it needs to go, it needs to go, even if I already have a stupidly large amount of blank space at the right. But please God, no footers.

It sounds like to me that the footer wouldn't even be all that usefull at all. It'd just be a pain down there, and make this site seem like face-book. You shouldn't copy other sites.

Plus you're taking away the world map because, "it takes to long to load," but the footer thing will probably make the page load slower than the world map did. On top of that it leaves a big, ugly, blank space if you take it away. It won't look good at all.
