The new layout example you provided was rather pixelated, which made it difficult to work with.
I recommend saving things in png format for examples. I find that it does less pixelating and color
distortions than bmp or jpg extensions do.



I've made a few adjustments based on my fellow user's feedback, and my personal
preferences.

To begin with, the blue bars on the right and the thought bubble stick out like
sore thumbs. I think changing it to match the navigation bar promotes the flow
and unity of the layout, keeping consistent with the color pallet you've chosen.
While subtle, the solid color of the bar contrast strongly against the shading
in the background. It still attracts the eye for that reason.

The fact that the 'You've earned ___ amount of gold' does not line up with
the vending machine and the bars really bugs me, and it it always has.
Lining up the end of the sentace with the other two objects in that space
makes it look more organized and more professional in my opinion.

Finally, like many other user's, the Gaia banner on the left was really bugging
me. After playing around with it, I've realized that it really is difficult to work with.
Initially, I was going to recommend resizing it to coincide with the announcement
bubble and align it as such, but now that I think about it, it would probably do best
at its full size and centered with the height of the header.

I kind of get the same feeling sometimes, especially regarding things like the RIGS, cash sponsors and the announcement hijacking incident. Alot of users feel alienated because most of the time our concerns aren't addressed publicly. Sometimes we get journals from you devs, but not everyone is subscribed to your journals. There's also the OMGaia forum, but like the journals, we aren't publicly notified every time there's an update. I didn't even know it existed until a few days ago.

You guys used to keep us updated through the announcement system. Lately it feels like the only announcements we're getting are about cash shop updates and sponsors. It was nice receiving announcements like 'We're working on such and such feature' and 'we're trying to fix this and that.' Alot of users wish you'd go back to handling things that way.

It would also be nice if you guys would sit down and discuss things with your users and try to compromise heated discussions, like the rigs. Ask them what changes they'd like to see, and explain why some suggestions cant be done, or why it wouldn't be efficient.

Seeing you guys on this thread really lifts my spirits. Its this kind of communication that
makes a site worth its while. Thank you for the time and effort your putting in, Fleep. : )

I would guess the reason she assumes this is because most, yes not all but most, of the feedback in this thread has stated that they don't want this feature implemented at all, or at least to have an off button.
Gracewar has clearly seen this feedback, as evidenced by her OP update, yet she mentions nothing of having any intentions to follow the suggestions of the user majority opinion.

You folks just don't listen, do you? The majority of comments have been AGAINST the damned footer. We don't need to use your particular style of footer to know we don't want the damned thing, many of us have already used footers on other websites and have decided we don't like them at all. Why must you insist on pushing out this feature, knowing damn well that no matter what we say you won't then remove it later? You have NEVER gone back on a layout change no matter how much negativity you get over it, so once the footer goes out it will never go away again. We've never had you go back, and never been given options. Once you change something the change stays, which means once the footer goes out we'll be forced to deal with it at all times and you'll continue to ignore anyone who doesn't worship your feet for your awesome conformity to every other site out there.

Dear Fleep,

I have a solution for this problem of the floating footer, and you already have the coding for it to so it should be easy to integrate. Use the PROFILE EDIT SYSTEM to let the users pick and choose which layout and content regardless of layout they want. This solution would enable the users to customize their landing pages however they want. No other site lets you do this especially with past layouts. And the positive side of this is that even if you come out with a new layout or content or just what ever if the user does not want it they don't have to have it its totally up to them and them alone. So another words everybody wins and gets what they want and isnt that what you the admin want is for everyone to be happy? Heck I would have started a petition for this if it wasn't for the fact I have two other petitions I am currently working on. And if you don't know if the users will want this then just ask them if they would I am pretty sure they will!

When the floating footer comes out, I shall be looking for ANY WAY POSSIBLE to get it off the screen, whether it be using Adblock, using CSS stylesheets, any sort of Firefox add-on or whatnot. Believe me, I am going to get that thing off so I never see it. I actually LISTEN to the users and I know they don't want the stupid footer...so I'm going to help them.

If you had any remote idea of the lag it will cause for people who have not-so-decent computers and/or multiple tab browse Gaia, then you'd be 'pissing your pants' as well. :/
