You say it's for lots of new features, but you have a tendency to say updates are because of upcoming new features but those features rarely, if ever, show up. As someone stated earlier, remember when you guys updated the naming system so we couldn't have spaces or symbols in our usernames? You said it was because we were getting an email system, but that has yet to come out.

That was not the only reason, and we've already realized some of the reasons we made that change. e.g., if you want to go to a particular profile, for example, yours or mine:

GIM required canonical naming like this to work.

It also simplifies storage and seeking in our databases, causes fewer cross-platform problems.

So yes, it's been useful and important.

i appreciate that you are trying to make the site run better but come on, there are countless problems with the site and other areas besides the landing pages that need updates places on the site that haven gotten an update in years. also if you guys are so determined to do what we want then why dont you look in the petitions forum and do exactly what the petitions say. i am not trying to sound mean or angry i am just upset that it seems we are being forgotten in that forum.

my point is work on the current problems of the site instead of making new things that well just add to the problems and focus on the petitions forum please

you know, no matter what the footer will be causing trouble to us who have smaller screened computers. you say you want to test it and of course with the random users who really don't care of the site or how things work here, they will say "oh cool! this place is facebook!" stare seriously. i really hope that you are listening to more of us here before you hear the masses that do not care about this site and what it may become. i refuse gaia turning into facebook or some other social networking site. gaia should not be trying to be like them at all. gaia in of itself is unique and does not have to go with features like what those sites have. yes, i am repeating myself with some things i said about 20+ pages ago but really when you talk about trust, i do hope you trust us who have posted in this thread a tad more than what overall gaia has to say.

also, are you still planning on boxing in the gaia logo? please don't do that. it doesn't need to look boxed in and it should be open and free. even your gaia logo at your offices is nice and open on the wall there in the entrance of your office. there is no need to change it or move it in any way. if you change the logo layout here, will you be changing the layout of the logo there at the office?

Please leave the header as it is. The new one just looks too empty, taking away the map and the shortcuts menu will just make the header look pointless. The logo will also look f*** ugly in that purple blob, plus I like having my notifications all in one place, rather than having to look at both the top of the screen and the bottom.

The map, it is what makes Gaia itself, the ability to explore the world and get your bearings is something unique and will be lost if removed.

Please work on something worthwhile, like updating the games and other parts of the site which are so much in need of a face-lift. To be perfectly honest, when I see that header with that footer, I cringe. It's simply unpleasing to even look at and, in my opinion, just makes me want to click "Logout".

This really bothers me. It's extremely similar to the floating bar on facebook, which I hate.
Seeing the bubbles coming from my avatar were always welcoming and cheeful in my opinion.
To me, thee current header is fine. It looks nice, works pretty well, and is unique to gaia. I dislike that this makes it less avatar based and gaia related, and more about social networking. I've been coming on gaia for at least two years. I managed to stay on facebook for less than a month. Unless you're really changing the site to a social network, it doesn't seem to work for me. .

We aren't facebook. Seriously.

This floating footer will cause lots of problenms for people with small screens, and it's not necessary. Why can't we just keep the notification buttons in the bubble? It's cute, easy to see, and, as far as I know, it's unique. I don't want to be looking in 3 or 4 places for my notifications.

Can't you include an option (if you decide to go through with this and try to be facebook) to turn the thing off and go back to the bubble?



Also, is there any particular reason that user feedback seems to be useless around here?? I don't see any positive reactions to this thing, and yet the staff seems willing to ignore us all and go through with it anyway.
