I like the way Gaia is right now. I don't want anything to change. Everything is fine the way it is. Seriously. I'll start repeating myself, but it's what I think. DON'T CHANGE THE SITE, PLEASE. I have a Facebook, made by one of my friend without my knowledge... Anyway, I don't like it. I LIKE Gaia. Keep it the SAME.

The only reason I stay here is the B/C threads and roleplaying, if I wanted to do facebook *and I have one only because none of my class mates dare use email or AIM or something, BTW, gaia IM? uh, whut?* I would be on there and not here.

Seeing as I saw the AtA (No I dont have it saved dont ask) where CRAIG said the map would be removed because of other reasons I do not believe it is being removed for SPEED reasons I believe it is being removed because he is changing the focus of Gaia more and doesnt want to come off as a roleplaying site.

Also totally agree with you. All of what we are saying cannot be said enough times. I still feel that gaia will do the footers anyway because although we do give feedback, they don't necessarily "listen and then do" what we are for or against.

If this footer thing comes into effect I'm going to make a petition.

i dont like the idea that the site is trying to look more like social network sites (facebook/myspace/whatever) If i wanted to use those sites i would. I -hate- them. I like gaia the way it is and since there is nothing -wrong- with how the system works i see no point to change it.

I dont like the idea of a floating footer because if it really does float at the bottom of the window it'll end up pissing me off when it moves as i scroll. I dont want something taking up the bottom of my screen when there's plenty of space for it at the top where i can scroll away from it and not have to see it.

The site needs to stop trying to be myspace or facebook and be GAIA.

I saw this mentioned earlier in the thread and it's a bloody damn good point. Gaia is an ANIME AND ROLEPLAY community. Keep trying to turn it into some ugly, social networking site and you WILL lose revenue as angry users leave to go play at sites like Roliana, Meneshwa (sp?), etc. Those sites may not be as big as Gaia, but they're growing daily and they are keeping to their roots as a cute roleplay community.

This cannot be said enough. Please STOP trying to fix what ain't broke just because you think OMGSHINY = Better Site. It doesn't. All it does is make you just like everyone else. Just let Gaia be Gaia.

I dont even know why im voicing my opinion on this matter, it isnt like we havnt been ignored time and time and time again on this sort of thing, the admin want our opinion only to not give a s**t, over look it and go with what they want anyway, it isnt till we all kick up a fuss about it that they move it back to how things were and we sit wondering why they changed it in the first place but...whatever, lets voice my opinion once again shall we?

I LOTHE it, totally and utterly LOTHE it, I like things the way they are, speech bubbles are perfect, this is an ANIME site and NOT a social networking site, we may talk and cyberly mingle here but there is a range of forums with a range of topics, we are NOT 100% social networking, we dont hook up with people and go out and rape them or murder them (facebook/Bibo etc HAVE had that happen), this site is dedicated to anime and take away things that DONT make it an anime site is stupid. Remember the time when you (the admin) had that cartoony looking header? We are NOT a cartoon site, we revolted, this site is dedicating this site to anime/manga and in manga guess what they use to talk/think? Get rid of the thought/speech bubbles and you might as well have a silent manga and guess how much fun THAT is?

I came to Gaia because I love the look of it, I love anime and this site, since Lanzer first founded it, has been for anime, why change it? I dont give a ******** if it 'looks neater' or 'cooler' or 'moe modern', leave that to Facebook, this is a site where those who like anime (or those who just like how anime looks) can come, join in and make friends, why do something stupid that will have people LEAVE the site? I LOTHE facebook and other networking sites with a passion, im going to have to start thinking wether or not I want to stay on this site if it DOES go through with that change. I know there are other anime sites like Gaia, they have changable avis etc BUT I find them not as well made as Gaia, they are good but I still like Gaia above them all but given that lately, all Gaia has been doing is making its users (you remember them, right admin? Those are thos silly things that help make a site run and has had Lanzer say we are its biggest DONATERS) upset with the site and I, once again, sit back and wonder why the ******** im here, I came for the anime, stayed for BOTH, I may love my friends on this site but its easy to talk to them on a messanger service if I leave.

Why do something that will make people pissed off with you once again? First the 'free cash' offers and now this? If you want to lose those who help keep this site running then you are going a GREAT way about it! There are sites like facebook crap and there is Gaia, the two should NEVER EVER mix! Keep Gaia how it is! Do NOT change it! We do NOT want it to be another facebook, we love Gaia how it is!

But...like I said in the begining, the admin will more then likely overlook us and do what they want ONLY to see us pissed off again, oh well, its nice to try at least even though I dont have any hope left to see if the admin DO listen to us for a change.

I'm crawling out of my hole (where I usually don't mind the layout updates) to say a very hardy no thank you.

A floating footer is possibly the most annoying codding on the internet since cheap java apps went out of style. They are inevitably clunky looking, doing the same job as a fixed menu except jerking around the screen and generally being where the user doesn't want it to be. If we are to be steamrolled, then please make an option to make the thing stationary. I don't care if it's at the bottom of the page (well, I do, but not in the face of a greater evil), as long as it's not following me around.

I'm sorry Gaia's team is tired of designing for the top bar, but the members and their preferences for usability should be priority. Keep it at the top (and fixed).

I've got to admit i dont like the preview.
The fact that all my alerts and teh like pop up in a little speech/ thought bubble next to my avitar was one of those little things that made gaia charming to me.
The last time teh site updated it looked far colder to me. But this proposed update with the floating foter and boxed in logo look both cold and unpresentable.
Also if you take away the map you wouls have to replace it with somthing as the large gap is also pretty unappealing. I suffer from the large right hand chasm on the page but overcame it by some fine tuned zooming in firefox so it doesnt bother me, however it would be better if things were evened out via centering the screen.

So unfortunately my reaction to the preview overall is pretty danged negative. Apologies.
