Oh god, no. PLEASE. DON'T DO THIS. D:
I don't care if you remove the map, but PLEASE, don't change anything else.
PLEASE. For once can you just LISTEN to us? D:

First thing I have to say is why? Out of all the things to work on, why this - something that really doesn't need to be changed currently.

The boxed logo: I don't like Gaia's logo as it is, but putting it in a box and shoving it towards the top of the banner in a horrid blue colour looks terrible in my opinion. Please reconsider and keep it as it is now.

I would prefer it is the options for quick short cuts remained near the top, as scrolling down to the bottom of the page (yes, even by using the end button) isn't particularly dynamic and is going to change how easy it is to access the site.

I'm not fond of the design of the gold/cash and username bar. The refill button already annoys me, I know where the drop down menu is, and I really do not need to be told where and when to go to get more Gaia cash. Hope I can adblock that eyesore of a button!

If you are going to take away the map, and make us see more of the banner - give us the option to pick which banners we want to see, the current city landscapes are boring as anything, and I'd rather see less of them, not more! The Easter banner was awesome, and I would love to have that back all the time rather than the city landscapes.

Again, when is the issue of those of us with large screen resolutions going to be addressed? Every update anybody with a resolution higher than 1024*768 gets ignored. My resolution is 1280*1024, and I get significant amounts of empty space on banners, guilds, journals and forums and this has been the case for years now!

While I know people still use 800*600 and 1024*768, fewer people are as PCs evolve - Gaia has been perfectly able to keep up with other technology, so why not this? If you have the time to needlessly 'fix' the banner, surely you can spare some time to work on making the site more compliant for those with larger resolutions.

Has ANYONE on the Staff even considered what affect this will have on the Moderators and their ability to perform their assistence to the site? Not to mention all those times when Artists (and yes even Developers) get pms and profile comments left and right.

Again, the floaties issue where pms and profile comments is a BAD one! Stick to the bubbles!
h-honestly i'd prefer it if the gaia layout just stays like it is now User Image
Can we like...not fix things that aren't broken? If you implement that ugly floater I won't be able to check my PMs from my PDA anymore when I'm not at home. And that would be a royal pain in the arse. And I LIKE the PM bubble. Many of us do. Gaians tend to cause an uproar when changes get made, so can we just leave things as is?
No floating footer, please. Christ those things are IRRITATING. I want the layout to stay like it is now, and so do like.. the majority of posters in this thread, really = I love it how Gaia neglects things that need to be fixed and instead do things that actually make the site look uglier, such as the pointless indentation of topic titles and moving the thread 'page finder' an inch to the left.. It's getting kind of ridiculous, who the hell are you employing in the fail graphic design department??

The more you guys try and be like Facebook/ Myspace / Generic Social Networking Site #55129, the more I want to leave.

Please stop "fixing" things that aren't broken.

The only part of this I approve of is the map being removed. I'll miss it, but I can understand that it can increase loading times for those on slower connections.
I am strongly against a floating footer.

I find features that hop around my screen hugely annoying. I also like the little bubbles that just sit there above my head, telling me if I have PMs. Using the bubbles just for announcements seems silly to me. If I just had to choose between them I would not show the announcements, but I would keep showing my PMs and notification in the bubbles.

It feels like this change is designed towards the needs of the site, rather than the needs of the user.
I really like the changes and I am sure that you will get lots of new users from other hangout websites coming to Gaia because of the new changes smile

This is a big step forward for profit 3nodding

I dislike these changes to be honest. The footer is more of a distraction than anything.
It makes it seem more like gaia is trying to be something it isn't - it reminds me of myspace*.
*Myspace recently added a footer that is very "in you face" like this.

I will truly miss the bubbles for private messages and comments - they are the only things that actually remind me I even have friends, haha. More than likely I'll try to forget the footer and never know when I have messages, heh sweatdrop

/negative feedback. Sorry sweatdrop
This is not Failbook. Do not give us a freaking floating footer.

Okay, I just dug this out of my photobucket. This was taken around December 2006, or January 2007 (because it had to do with the christmas event due to the error). This was right when I joined and a few months before a change over towards this new layout we have had for over a year now.

Ignore the error. I pulled this out because it's a clear screenshot of the last layout that Gaia took away. If they want to take our bubbles away, they should start heading back in THIS direction.

That's my new feedback on this issue. I still stand by my earlier post as well that I hate these ideas, they slow computers down, as others have stated it DOES look fugly, and it's copying other websites already in existence. Gaia beat those websites in the past due to its originality. We miss it. If we say we don't want something, we seriously don't want it.

PS - I miss the OLD logo. That one was quality. (referring to top left of image)
User ImageStaff, I hope you notice that EVERYONE is against this idea.

Please, for the love of the Gaia Gods, do not just go through with this anyway.

We do not want to "just get used to it."
