Coming Soon: Site header redesign (UPDATED FIRST POST 7/1)

I like the idea of the footer. It does remind me a lot of Facebook's footer, though, only that footer only stays on your window when you're on Facebook, and not on other sites. But, to be honest, it's going to make me very lazy and not want to check out the forums as often as I do, since that footer will be there; there'll be no need for me to since it's there. ^^U

I definitely miss the map not being there, but I never really used it, anyway, so it's ok; it's more of an aesthetic thing, I suppose.

I REALLY dislike the footer. I feel like there are too many bars on the page already, I really don't want another one down at the bottom.

Edit: I also dislike the Logo box... It makes Gaia seem more.. hemmed in, rather than free.. if you know what I mean? And Gaia is supposed to be about the freedom to express yourself, right?

The rest of it looks really good though... I like the "Refill" button over the huge "Need Gold?" button.

Perhaps try moving the bars around? I would suggest if you're going to go with a floating bar, make it a header by putting the current drop down menu at the very top of the screen and the floating bar where the current drop down menu is.

Crappy paint cut and paste job to show placements: Yay paint!

Then, it would "stick" to the top of the screen as you scroll down past it, if that makes sense.
Just a thought.

Do NOT take out the bubbles, seriously. And the footer looks rather annoying. I'd much rather have everything up at the top of my screen where I'm most likely to look!

And I hope you guys put the map back soon. I'll miss it...

Stop "fixing" stuff that isn't broken.

My lord, what a huge waste of time. Gaia is FINE. Stop messing with how it looks. Instead, fix the scriptors in towns. Create manga to finish the Prom event that was PROMISED and now suddenly not in the works?? Deal with the scams going on with this free cash crap. WORK ON YOUR COMMUNICATION!

No. No. No. I don't like the footer at all. Please do not put in the footer.Honestly, I don't see why this aspect of the site is even being fussed with when so many other features are due for a big update. I also do not want notices/announcements in more than one spot. I love the speech bubble and I really don't see a need for receiving notifications in any other place than there. I really wish the world map would stay up there too. It seems like gaia's uniqueness keeps on disappearing.

I could say a lot of things, but most of it has been said already. Just going to rally with the people who aren't so keen on this since neither am I.

However, do not ever get rid of the speech bubbles next to the avatar. They work, they're aesthetically pleasing, they've been here for years, we love them, and they make this place Gaia. We want this place to be Gaia, not yet another social networking site. Stop trying to make changes to be like other sites.

Great, another site with a Facebook taskbar. If you want to add it, that's cool, but I'd love an option to turn it off.

Also, is that a really rough mockup, because it looks like a downgrade from now. This isn't even one of those, "NO I HATE CHANGE" concerns, those are just some very cheap looking graphics (sorry, no offense to whoever made it)

On a final note, I'm cool with the map being removed. I've heard plans to redesign it to match zOMG's take on Gaia, so keeping that outdated one in there would be pointless.

Edit: Since it was brought up, could we pick our own header image? I'd rather have the Earth Day one all year round instead of the current one of Barton.

The logo looks funny. It's better like it is now.
Without the map, there is just going to be a gap and plain space. People with larger monitors already have to deal with extra space, let's not add to it. You could at least make an option for us whether we'd like it or not, no?
The footer....eh, not a big fan. Stuff added to the top and bottom of my browser bug me, and I really don't see the need. It just reminds me of the Facebook one, which I don't like either.

I really like our current header, especially the Logo how it is. The world map looks wonderful how it is, it reminds me of Gaia's earlier days. D: Please keep it there.
Otherwise, I adore the name, gold/cash little thing. It looks okay.
