Ugh... I'm really despising this redesign neutral

From what I saw on the preview, "Site header redesign," it definitely reminded me of facebook and myspace layouts gonk Why be similar to these sites? neutral

I mean, I do like facebook and myspace, but once both sites totally changed their old and original layout. It got so confusing to navigate though all the pages that some features that I used before were hidden within tabs. Plus, when navigating through the pages, the site became slower due to all the java-script gonk

Please, please, please! Do not change!! I've already had enough of all the changes within the gaia's layout through these past 4 years! I wish it went back about 4 years ago when GIM wasn't created, all these useless advertisement wasn't around, and when the site didn't have all this javascript slowing down my already fast laptop! emo

The only thing that I can only agree on is when you guys said, "Unfortunately, after much pondering and debate, we decided to remove the world map as it was taking a big toll on the page load speed." If this helps improve the speed on gaia, this is the only change that I can and will agree on is the removal of the world map! neutral

I hate it. It is terrible. I can't stand those footers that other sites use. PLEASE do not do this, Gaia.

Please don't. Those things are irritating and Gaia has managed just fine without it. Why does one need to be added? It'll only be an annoyance.

That is pretty much it.
I know in fact hundreds of people left gaia because it lost its unique nature.
And more are leaving if this goes up.

I have been here since 2005, and I am one of those people. I came to gaia because my avatar is alive, and this site is unique. I have all my gaian friends added on im clients. Goodbye gaia?

also about gim, i don't use it because i don't need it. i use it only when i am in zomg so will it still auto turn on when it's in the footer? confused seriously what we have already and just take out the world map and it looks fine. and i don't like the new colors in the example either. the colors being used right now is easy on the eyes and works.

I don't know what to think until I see the final product. I really like what we have now, but I haven't seen the new look. I'd have to see it in action before I made any sound judgments about it.

I'm reading through this thread and seeing a general consensus that this would be a bad move.

That being said, what on earth made you guys think this was a good idea? How is it that you've managed to massively misjudge your userbase like this? It's one thing if the complainers were a vocal minority, but I can count on one hand the number of positive posts in this thread!

Next time try making a thread asking for user feedback BEFORE you start pushing things out.

Personally, I like what we have now. Why is there a need to update it yearly? I really hate footer notifications, it's one of the main reasons I don't use Facebook more than 2 minutes a week. DX Please don't get rid of the bubbles.

The floating footer is just awful. I am sorry, but that will make me come to Gaia less and less, because I just cannot stand having to scroll down or even look at the bottom of the screen to see things like messages. By moving the Shortcuts bar, you have defeated its purpose, when it is one of the most useful features on the whole banner. The new logo looks ugly and hedged in and the gold bar is sloppy and hideously coloured.

Please do not get rid of the speech bubble. It is adorable and useful and it is one of the truly unique features of Gaia. I have defended this site through so much, but this is a terrible decision from a user/player of this site, and from someone experienced in graphic interfaces. It is annoying and frustrating and people hate it. People have hacked Facebook, the site you are attempting to imitate, in order to give people the option to view "Classic Facebook," because New Facebook is so globally despised.

Unlike Facebook, Gaia does depend on its users for money, so hand-waving our issues with your designs and ignoring us on this issue will cost Gaia, as it has in the past when you've tried to mess with the banner. There are so many ways this banner can be updated and reworked without sacrificing the site's individuality in order to imitate a completely different site's most hated design. It's insane.

The bubble at the top of the page will only link to announcements from now-on. All the other links that used to be there will be moved to the right-side of the footer.

So in other words... the bubble is useless since almost all of those are advertisements smile I'll be sure to ignore my bubble. Sad that my avatar tries to do nothing but scam me isn't it?
