Personally, if they are going to put things like that on there....
I think they need to put it at the top but still let us keep the option of seeing if we have a new PM in the bubbles.
Also, it would be nice if we could have more then one color.

If you have ever been to MySpace or Facebook, you would know this is a floating footer. No matter where you are on the page, you will see this footer on the bottom of the screen.

I opened up myspace and facebook, didnt scroll to the bottom of the page, just opened up the page, and here is what I see at the bottom of my page:


It moves as you move.
Basically, you will ALWAYS see it.

I find it to be rather annoying.

So true. I don't have Facebook, but i do have MySpace. Even when I shorten the dam thing it still irritates me when I see that thing in the corner as I scroll down. It's obnoxious and I can't stand it. All the s**t MySpace has is the reason I only stay on it long enough to check if I have new comments or messages. After I'm done, I log off and don't get on until the next day.

Please, please, PLEASE leave everything in the bubble up top. I hate floating footers, and do not want to ahve to chase one down for trades and PM's, my favorite bubble messages!

It's part of the reason I spend alot less time on Myspace too.

I don't remember a time Facebook didnt have it, but I rarely spend any time on there anyways.

I think this is a fantastic idea. As I said originally, I wouldn't mind the footer idea, but would perfer it to be at the top of the page, and not floating.
Honestly, I already have the Gaia toolbar, and the tektek toolbar, so adding a floating footer would be a little much. Really, I have tabs, 2 Gaia related toolbars, a bookmark toolbar, and my web browser. Anything else and I won't be able to see the actual page.

Also, with the map gone, putting the "footer" in the header would help to fill the empty space that's being left. Otherwise we just have a sad lonely header.

I don't see any reason why the header/footer needs to be changed from what it is now. o_O Our bubbles are awesome and everything is convenient how it is now, why add MORE modules and make things redundant?

Why, why, why do you people keep changing crap that doesn't need fixing? I'd prefer the bubbles kept, instead of some footer I won't even know that's there- I hardly ever look at the bottom of my screen, so I wouldn't know if I had messages, mail or not.

And I don't see the point in asking us what we think if you all went through the time and effort creating something so useless, and are just going to put it up anyway, to hell with what we think and how loudly we scream we hate this or that feature.

We want our beloved bubbles cause they give us the feel of our avi is alive, also it's quick to find out a new private comment, announcement and/or pm. The damn footer is not. You said that you want gaia to be more social and how can it be more social if you can miss a pm for a friend? No thanks, the footer is a bad idea, users love bubbles. If you put a damn footer, then you don't care about the users anymore, cause we have no response on removing the surveys even if the entire SF is flooded with people scammed and going bankrupt

Yes! Exactly. It's just like how it is in the forums. With how each and every post is a SPEECH BUBBLE. It is our avi's that are talking, it's not just another post like on any other website!

So when I sign in, it's nice to see that my avi is telling me that someone sent me a comment or PM.
I don't want it to be a little bar at the bottom of my screen that tells me that.

I love my avi, not the bottom of my screen.

oh and one more thing, i hate how you boxed "gaia online." the logo does not need to be boxed in. i like it where it is, right next to my avatar. do i want gaia boxed up and turned into an ugly looking tab like what i am putting up with in safari 4? no. and really the glowy effect when you hover over the logo is awesome. leave that alone please.

Eeegh. For the love of Gaia, please leave things as they are right now. I don't like anything about the new design. The footer/floater idea is an eyesore and would annoy the living piss out of me.

The footer is fine, if there are updates down there the tab in question should change color in some way. The bubble is nice when you first log in, but something consistent as you use the site would be great.
