I don't use facebook but I do use myspace. Myspace now has a feature on your myspace page, the myspace IM. Right there on your page. No downloading stuff. It's just there FLOATING at the bottom. Honestly, that floating thing annoyed the piss out of me and I spent god only knows how long trying to TURN IT OFF.
Thankfully myspace allows you to turn it off.
I think if you are going to change to a floater you guys should allow US to turn it off or switch it to a header. Not everyone likes floating things on the bottom. I sure as hell do not.

I don't like the PM notifications to be on a footer, I like my mail announcements up in the bubble.

STOP TRYING TO BE FACEBOOK! Floating toolbars are a nuisance! On top of that the logo looks like someone spent 5 seconds on it in paint-very fugly and unprofessional! PLEASE leave the bubbles alone too. Hell-WHY does the header layout need to be changed at all? Its fine as it is! I also dont like that the world map is gone...its like the staff is killing everything that made Gaia what it is.Are you guys actively trying to drive users away?

I'm going to really miss the map but I understand why you'd drop it... and if you really are planning to bring back the "world" feel, well, I guess I'll have to deal.

But that "floating footer" thing looks pretty much horrible. I'd much prefer if we just kept the litle speech bubbles we have now. Will we at least be able to turn the footer off/close it? It's... really ugly. And I really don't need to know what my friends are doing all the time.

Edited to add: I often have parts of my window off the bottom of the screen. This makes footers as useless as lipstick for chickens.

Edited again to add: I hope you're telling us about this because you want honest feedback and plan to make the tweaks requested (ability to turn it off, option for information at the top of the page) and not because it's a done deal and you just want to let people vent ahead of time. It's not quite fair to ask for feedback that you don't plan to bother with because the changes are already a done deal.

I love all the changes you've done before, but the footer stays OFF of Gaia. Please, please, please, PLEASE, I'm begging on my pixelated knees, PLEASE don't do this. I want the speech bubbles to continue notifying me about EVERYTHING, not just announcements.

But really... did you ever stop to consider how bad those colors look matched together? The blue was just... randomly thrown in, and the purples aren't even the same shade really.

I hate.hate.HATE floating footers. Especially when I can't remove them. I'd tell you why but I'm too sick to be loud about this. I know floating tool bar thingies are the 'in' thing to do, I mean even youtube has one now, but I detest them, because they can never be unseen, and whatnot.

I don't like this "footer" idea. Many of the pages on Gaia can get pretty long, especially in guilds, clans, journals, and the forums. Scrolling all the way down to the bottom of a page just to see if I have a new PM seems very inconvenient and will probably be very annoying.

Please Gaia, keep the bubbles. If you can't, at least have this floating "footer" thing be closer to the top of the page so we can actually SEE it while browsing the forums or doing other activities that result in long pages.

What was wrong with the bubbles? I'd much prefer those to the footer. I don't like it on MySpace and Facebook, and I have a hard time seeing myself liking it on Gaia sweatdrop
