Please read this entire post before replying! Failure to do so will most likely result in your misunderstanding of this topic, and you'll most likely say something that has already been established or dealt with. This is not, I repeat, NOT a discussion about Bond Movies! Take your opinions about the actors who played Bond and other stuff elsewhere! This is ONLY a request for Gaia to add the movies to the Cinemas, which you should be able to tell from the title of the topic. The only discussion that is allowed here is whether or not you think Bond movies would be a good addition to the Cinemas. Also, please don't ask for the two newest Bond movies to be added. That isn't going to happen for several years, if it does happen at all. I am only asking for the older movies, that have been shown on network television repeatedly, although not necessarily those versions, as they were edited for time constraints, etc...

Well, that does explain a lot. Let's keep hoping that they'll find Bond movies on the list offered to them, and keep this topic active until then.

One of my all-time favorite movie series is Ian Fleming's James Bond. I think there must be at least some people on here who enjoy those movies.
Anyways, my suggestion is that they at least consider adding the classic Bond movies, starting with the first, and slowly moving up until they have the entire collection. Of course, to get to Casino Royale (the newer one) and Quantum of Solace, we would most likely need to wait a few years, if not several years. However, I'm pretty sure they could stretch out all the older movies to fill the time until we can have those two on here.
[Edit] Just to calm anyone who is concerned about the content in the Bond movies, please consider this. They have shown all of them, except for Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, on network TV, and as far as I can tell, they were hardly censored, if at all. On top of that, even if any of the movies are rated R, consider the fact that they are playing Starship Troopers in the Gaia Cinemas, and that's rated R. Most of the Bond movies are PG-13, and if they didn't need to edit them for content on TV, they don't need to edit them for content here on Gaia. Of course, if there was a rated R Bond movie, that I am fine with being censored.

Also, I have been asked to, and I'm quite willing to do this, suggest that for those with too much stuff in their signatures already, that they can put the image link on their profile, in either the About Me section, or a Custom Panel. Of course, About Me is the only option for those with Classic profiles, but at least it has unlimited, or at least almost unlimited, space.

The other reasons behind "why we can't just ask" is because of contractual obligations. It's more of a one way system that was provided for us. Kind of like if you signed up for cable television, you can't call up your cable provider and ask "I want to watch xxxx movie this Saturday". Just an example, while things work very differently behind the scenes. :-I

The chance of us getting James Bond is unlikely since currently we get to choose between titles offered by Sony or Warner, and if the title is not there there's nothing we can do. They are also bound by what titles they can show for free because they have partnerships with broadcasters such as cable companies and what not. In time we'll definitely come across the Bond titles, but it's very out of our control, unlike us getting Anime titles.

We're looking to make some technical improvements and content additions to cinemas, so thanks for the suggestion for Bond movies in cinemas. We have a Biz Dev team here that is working on acquiring content for Gaia, and as you know there is lots of great content out there! I'll pass along the suggestion!

Just a little note...content acquisition can be a tricky matter that involves contracts, licensing issues, age-appropriateness etc. Often, movies/movie series will fall into a provider's library, and yes, it is easier to get older movies than newer ones because of licensing issues. We can ask a provider about content availability during negotiations if we are interested in certain titles, but nothing is guaranteed. Its nice to hear about our users' interests, because even though we can't develop/take action on all ideas, we are listening and making improvements to site. I like Bond movies, esp. the older ones smile

I'd love to see the older Bond movies. :3 It's up to the movie companies though - Gaia HQ gets a list of free movies and from there they choose the ones to have on the website.
As for the rating - there are movies currently playing that contain the same content as the Bond movies. I believe it was said there were filters in place. Or, they can choose to play the TV censored version.
