Although i disagree with not letting people who dont have the money right now to bid, its a great idea to put a fine either economical or of any other type, that way we could stop trolls and such from bidding and over pricing the item for the sake of bidding. another thing, this is a gold sink hole, to lower the inflation, it has been said by a dev. so in a way only allowing the people who have the money to bid wont complete the real purpose which is to get gold back to gaia.
devs should take measures that satisfy both sides...

I don't think it's against the rules, is it? I checked the ToS and saw nothing.

I think you can make deals to borrow gold from people, especially if you use collateral.

People use the collateral system to borrow items from each other all the time.

I know for certain that the Exchange has a rule against making threads offering to sell items that aren't currently in your inventory, so that leads me to believe that there's some rule somewhere that prohibits selling items that you don't own. I think the best option would be to PM a mod or admin and ask if that's the case.

Lots of people will do things against the rules without realizing it, so it's important that it gets pointed out for the sake of account safety and general knowledge. 3nodding

I think bidblast is a unique case though, because generally if you go into the Exchange and say, "Hey, buy the angelic halo from me that I don't really have yet! But I will have it soon! Pay me now!" People will stare at you and call you stupid, a noob, or a scammer.

With bidblast the other person is guaranteed to have the item as long as they have the gold to buy it.

Clarification would be good although I think it will be an okay thing, since a lot of people are going to be watching when things as rare as angelic minis get traded. There will be a ton of people monitoring this stuff which leaves little room for scamming to get past.

BidBlast is not unique since the principles behind it are still the same. Until the user has physically purchased the item after winning it, they do not own the item. "Borrowing" the money to buy it so they can turn around and sell it after has too much scam potential to be allowed.

I question this since there are some instances when users buy art from shops without having the money or item at hand even after winning auctions (e.g. "I bid 1 mil on your art auction but I don't have the gold yet - but I'll have it once I sell _____"; or "I'll AB your auction with the ______ item, once I am able to sell another item to buy your AB item" ). What about these cases? I see this happen a lot.
They only become problems when the other person doesn't fulfill their end of the deal - in which case it becomes a scam or the artist reverts to the 2nd highest bidder.

BidBlast is out!

After blood, sweat, and tears BidBlast is finally out for your bidding pleasure. It's a way to grab some cool items, potentially cheaper, than if you were to buy them on the MP. So...

Tell us what you think about it: good, bad, like, love, hate, or just anything about BidBlast. Spill your heart out!

Thank you,

i think its great so far. There should be a couple "rare" items that gaia admins control but should also be open to the public. There should be a minimum like "item must be worth 100,000g + to enter item." Just like the marketplace, be able to control how long it runs and be able to sell tickets back so whoever is selling would get all the tickets, giving them the option to get the money back or use them on other bids. xp It would also help get things sold if theres lots of items some could go un-noticed and the bids would be won even faster and cheeper

Wait...Mini Wings for sale? Are they re-releasing older Donation Items? eek
I remember asking at a Gaia Panel and Lanzer and DJ Hellsing reassured users that Donation Items would not be re-released.

Elegant White Satin Coat is approaching or passing 116,000 gold plus 8 gold a bid.... That is over twice the cost in the store price and 8 gold lost on the market accross the board will kill Gaia Online in the long run. Those like myself bought 88,000 gold for 11,000 tickets to get a jump but I was foolish investing so much and can not sale them or trade them to anyone. I think bids on mini angel wings thats 117,000,000 gold on the market will weaken the value of vary rare items overall. The only winners short term is Gaia Online where people will leave and go elsewhere for the community support if these action continuel because I see many loyal Gaian's giving up and sailing away forever and those loyal to stay will have virtual item worth nothing at all to anyone else that remains. I will stay no matter what but I see a huge leak in this ship and its filling up fast with lost of people and revenue.... crying Please go back to the basics of slots, Jigsaw, Zomg and steady introduction slow chance items and let the community come back to us. I hope you all understand what I am saying and look at the signs ahead before its too late.

I like it but dislike it maybe try a new ticket method
like
Green tickets= items below 100k
Orange tickets= items above 100k
gold tickets=500k items

that way not just any randomer can bid and will also help regulate the speed an auction goes at?

the tickets can sell at different prices and probably start off with like 10-20 of each?

Big, Fat, Hairy, Gold Sink. Hundreds or Thousands of users bid on rare items, just to get outbid. Sure sniping is avoided, but it's not like you have the gold to get it after you've lost everything.

bringing the timer back up to 30 seconds every time someone bids near the end wont work, the auctions will never end, there will be way to many users bidding.. 10-15 seconds is a little more realistic.
it's interesting and fun but the biggest problem is the adding of extra time when you bid when the timer is low .I have been watching and for the last 2 hours or more the first item to reach 30 sec has yet to be sold and I doubt it ever will with this rule. there needs to be a limit to the time that can be added or this needs to be droped completely.

There is a "limit", it sucks, but there is. The current limit is the deadline for the auction, for Elegant White Satin Coat it is Fri, 23 Sep 2011.

Until Friday people will keep sinking gold into bids thinking they'll win the item outright for the cost of their ticket if they're the last bidder without reading that winning the bid wins you the chance to buy the item for the final bid cost. Stupid system.

the whole idea is awesome but i disagree with one thing, the 30 second reset has to go i mean i know your trying to give ppl a chance to get the item , but it is ridiculous cause it will be a never ending bid it will keep going an going so my suggestion is take that off an just leave the items get bid on
Watching the Elegant White Satin Coat reminds me of the people who put up starter clothes and such for 100's over the store price and expect people to actually pay the amount in the MP.

For the life of me, I don't know why people are still bidding on the Elegant White Satin Coat @ over 140k.

First it cost to bid on it, then if you win you are supposed to pay the ending price. Seems like a losing proposition to me. Like playing lotto.

Especially when you pay at least 8g a ticket and it only raises the bid 1g. (already losing)

Hmm if your bidding on an item you should be forced to pay what you bid. As such you shouldnt be able to bid anything higher than what is currently in your account. That would account for troll bids/bid by people who cant afford the item or dont really want it.

Classic point classic coat is 150k and climbing...yes some people will pay the end price for the title of the first winner, but many just wont, thus making the point m00t

also what doe "ends fri 23" really mean...last time I looked that particular friday spans 24 hours.

A bit of a flawed system. I mean, having to pay for the item after winning a violent bid-battle seems a bit too much. Maybe increase the prices of ticket and not have to pay at the end. I really can't think of anything that would make it better myself, but the system does need some major improvements. I enjoy the concept a ton and applaud you for putting the work into making new features for us constantly, and this, like a few other things in the past, just needs to be tweaked a bit until it's great.

Please, please, please....

Make it so the act of bidding is actually a pain in itself. Make this a RISK, just like it is on every other site. Just don't leave the tickets priced so low, if you want the easy way out. make them 500g or something. Or make it so you don't have to pay for the item at the end of the bidding, but instead have to pay the bids in increasing amounts the longer the bid is pushed.

That's pretty much the only thing ruining it. If you make it so people have to think before attempting a bid, then scripting for this, or making troll bids wouldn't be an issue to start with just like it isn't on all sites with this bid scheme.
