Welcome to Gaia! ::

This is getting freaking ridiculous. Landing pages made all nice and pretty, housing getting updates so we can store inventory in them?

Come on folks.. When are the guilds Forums going to get the updates we have been promised for the last 5 years???????????????????????????????
I'm sure the towns/flash space developers have very little to do with guilds.
Why can't the developers take a few minutes out of their coffee breaks and finally get to work on the guild forum enhancements that they freaking promised us over the past 2 yrs. What's the matter Panagrammic- can't remember what you promised? Can't remember the proposal the GGN Moderator's guild wrote up-,doing everything but the freaking coding for you and the other developers- Do we have to do that for you too?

The point is, none of the developers seem to be assigned to the guilds anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Panagrammic was moved to a different team. Can't tell a business what to do with it's workers.

What they need to do is take a bit of time and reset the spring cleaning forum so that it's 2012, and place some information about what old proposals have moved to a "to do" list for this year, what's in the works, and set up some new threads to cookie that didn't quite get enough votes to be worked on this year.

He's still on the development team somewhere- even if he was PROMOTED after giving the guilds the shaft with the Spring Cleaning fiasco.

And no disrespect toward you, but unless you have been involved with guilds and all the hassle we hav e been through with the developers, you don't understand how totally and utterly frustrated we are. 99000 guilds have had diddly squat done to upgrade OUR FORUMS since the guild forums were created!

That cookie idea is a total farce and don't let anyone tell you differently. It was a way for the developers to push the guilds needs under the carpet, to the back burner or how ever you want to put it. Basically, it was to keep them from having to do a major overhaul. They don't want to have to take the time to do it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ZOMG and making the rest of Gaia look pretty is more important than guilds are. If the Forums need something, the Forums get it, but Guilds-well the developers are hoping we just fade away!

I am a part of many guilds. I already know how frustrating it is. Did you read about the issues in the spring cleaning forum when it comes to updating guilds? Lots of threads and such can and will be lost, because there's no way to move them all over to the original format. It's prolly why guilds is being treated like an abandoned child right now, because the devs don't want to step on any toes. Perhaps they should redo the code, so that any NEW guilds that are made are in the new format, and be done with it.

Quick explanation- I am the Captain of the GGN Moderators Guild- I am the one spearheading the guilds' upgrading proposal, I am the one keeping the SC threads going- along with site moderator Pirhan. Along with the proposal team from the GGNMG, we worked tireless hours with Panagrammic- in PM's and in the guilds Chatroom- getting the proposal fine tuned and then he went and chopped it up, dumped it in SC and let the rest of Gaia kill it. That was the plan all along it seems. And now, we need someone to champion our cause.. Guess it's back to the Facebook campaign and PM's to Lanzer!

Mamarita, I think I have mentioned this before to you, or perhaps it was someone else in the GGN, but reacting this way when another feature gets an update is not how you get the attention you want.

With the way you are wording things, one could easily take this as either flaming or trolling, and even report you for this. I say this out of experience, not to threaten you.

In order to get the guilds noticed, you need to speak directly to the higher-ups in a calm, business-like manner. You can't be blowing up in their faces when they have updated something else.

Like Rya stated, the coding is more than likely so outdated that if the guilds are Revamped, practically every thread will be erased in the process. This is probably why they are "avoiding" an update at this time.

Pan is no longer a developer in the fields he was in, he's head of Engineering.. Or something like that.. Now. Please, calm down. I don't think there is a Dev in the Spring Cleaning Forum to go through the proposals and bring them up to the higher ups to be discussed. And I doubt there is a single dev assigned to the guilds.

You've waited what? 5 years? That seriously isn't a very long time, if you really think about it.. You can wait a little longer, without blowing up on people the moment something else is updated. You cannot tell the devs and admins what to do with their business, but you can suggest things and try to be helpful in letting them know exactly what you want.

^^; Could have mentioned that in the first place.

And yeah, you prolly will have to go more drastic to get more answers, and to get something done. Guilds are important to me, as well. But I am afraid they wouldn't be able to move the volumes of data from old guilds to new guilds. And that frightens me, because a lot of older threads that hold meaning could be lost.

That sure explains a lot as to why things aren't getting anywhere.

You're the captain of an unofficial, user run guild that does not represent the entirety of GGN guild owners. You've got almost no understanding of how things work at the HQ level from what I've seen of your various threads in here, and you tend to overreact to pretty much everything. Are 31 question marks, or 16 exclamation points really necessary? It's hard to take someone seriously when they do stuff like that.

Next, you're working with a Site Moderator. While sure, they can shoot messages to the Gaia Office via email or whatever other ways of communication they have, they can't exactly get anything done. Really, when it comes to updates, mods are just like the rest of us.

I don't know how much time you really spent talking with Panagrammic, but in the end he was only a messenger and organizer. He still didn't have the final say in stuff as far as I know. It was likely he went to devs capable of working on guilds and they were the ones that told him migrating stuff was too much work, so see what users in the Spring Cleaning forum thought of the alternatives (Which I agree suck, guilds should have been updated every time the main forums were so as to keep up).

Finally, PMing Lanzer is absolutely the wrong way to go about it, at least how you're suggesting. This topic is quite frankly pushing harassment by encouraging your guild members to mass PM him. If you want to bring the issue up, make a proper Site Feedback thread. Not something as "bawwww" sounding as this, structure it right, be specific, keep it bumped over the long term when it falls off of the first page. Alternately, have a person or three take the issue to Ask The Admin.

The way you go about things now, and have in the past leaves me completely unsurprised that nothing has been done. Outside of Gaia's issue of not keeping things maintained, your approach is "OMG MY FAVORITE THING DIDN'T GET AN UPDATE WHEN YOU DID UPDATE SOMETHING THAT USES COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CODE/DEVELOPERS!!!", so it isn't likely to get much support. Be just a little more calm, a little more structured. Most importantly, be persistent, but don't scream things like this.

I definitely agree that GGN Guilds are long overdue for a code update and that it should include migrating previous topics, even if that means shutting down guilds for a week or something. But just screaming won't do anything.

I'm sorry but five years is an understatement, the guilds coding hasn't been updated since the advent of the site.

They're avoiding the issue, you've seen the developers post in the GGN guild I presume and therefore know that they tend to spout the same repetitive 'justifications' over and over without any progress being made.

There is no good excuse why Gaia can't put the old guilds into hibernation, leave them on the site and build a new guilds system in it's place.

We were told point blank that Gaia wouldn't have time for the guilds and yet they've got time to make redundant updates to a feature that very few people use; can you see why a lot of us are frustrated?

Rita's been polite in the past, it doesn't get us anywhere and I can honestly see why she's so pissed; I personally am reaching a stage of apathy with it because I can see quite plainly now that Gaia really has no intention of helping the guilds and intents for them to fall apart (Which they will, the code is now so old that it's just a matter of time).

Believe it or not, but I do understand the frustration. A Dev cannot do much at all, this I am sure, all of you should have understood by now. Leaving threads that tell people to harass members of the staff, or to "campaign" on Facebook to boycott for something like this is NOT the way to go. It doesn't matter how frustrated you get, it doesn't matter how nice you are. You have to treat a business in a business-like way, or NOTHING gets done and NO ONE comes to an understanding.

Take a look at how she is overreacting about an Update to Housing, which has also been badly needed. There are only so many people working on the features, not all of them have the authority, time, or resources to deal with people trying to start an outcry over the guilds. They have to find a way to update the coding without pissing off thousands of users for overwriting and ultimately deleting threads.
The Devs are repeating themselves because that is all they can do, they don't have any other information they can release, and I'd imagine it is frustrating them, as well, to get all these people wanting a change to a feature that badly needs it, and yet they can do nothing about it.

Seriously, there are other features that are also badly in need of updates. Guilds aren't the only ones.
