http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/community-announcements/for-some-sweet-bling-nab-yourself-a-big-fat-diamond/t.95632123/

toss me some sunglasses or something? Jeez! Okay, much better. Not only do I look at least seventeen and a half times more swagtastic now, but I can finally take a good look at this Big Fat Diamond in front of me!

Oh wow, it looks so fragile...like you could crack it right open to receive trillions of gold or mountains of GoFusion Charms! With that kind of loot, you'd have to be wary of treasure-hungry dragons hunting you down. Stop by La Victoire today to snag your own Big Fat Diamond before this majestic bit of bling leaves the shop! Hey, are real diamonds supposed to be this easy to crack open? Maybe it's actually a Big Fat Cubic Zirconia...

The description says I would get trillions and for that price I should have received at least one trillion gold! Yet I only received a measly 30 billion gaia gold?! It does not allude to it not being less than a trillion gaiagold at all! If I knew this was going to be less than a couple trillions I wouldn't have bought it! I want my money back or at least 970 billion more gaiagold! This is false advertising!

I AM PISSED ONLY 30 BILLION GAIAGOLD! IT SAYS TRILLIONS IN BIG RED LETTERS NOT BILLIONS OR ANYTHING LESS THAN TRILLIONS!
I curse your damn in real life luck. Then again, I don't even have more than 40m right now. gonk

Let me help you out. Note the one word I put in red and bold above that alludes that nothing is a guarantee.

Much the way that you could have just bought items with that GC and sold them making far more. You didn't though, right? See, could just means its a possibility. Never is it a guarantee. Read the wording very carefully.

It's a risk item, like all the GGs (Gold Generators). You took the risk, you must now deal with the outcome.

Please, keep that in mind with all the future GGs announced and don't fall for it again.

The annoucment's wording is misleading and for that price I would expect a higher minimum payout for them as opposed to cheaper GGs

Gold generators announcements usually have "up to trillions", so I guess I can see why this was a misunderstanding since it didn't have that line. Still, everyone should of known it's rare to hit the trillions.

It is true that it often does say "up to X amount". However, regardless of the wording, a GG is pretty much always the same. Pay a large amount of GC for a chance at something. No amount is ever a guarantee with any of the GGs. The only guarantee is that Gaia just got your money.

I still have no idea where people get the idea that they are guaranteed anything. We don't even own these items we pay for. They're rented pixels.

I've yet to see anyone take the time to research their purchase before making it and then scream foul. SF is full of threads making GGs a known issue. Some threads explain the concept in great detail. It doesn't take much to find them either. Those who don't research before making such a big purchase are harming no one but themselves. It works the same in rl too.

It is sad that some have to learn the hard way, but hopefully they will learn and not repeat it again. Some lessons cost more than others.

I do sympathize because that sucks. At the same time I find it a bit hard to believe when people act surprised that Gaia is a big rip off scam at this point. That's not really some hidden secret anymore. sweatdrop

You are not entitled to get trillions in gold from a gold gen. You still got gold. So it is NOT fraud. You still got gold just because it wasn't the amount you wanted doesn't make it a fraud. It's a chance item. You have the chance to win up a couple of trillion in gold but you're not entitled to it.

The only rip off there is, is how gold gens screw up every thing and just make inflation worse. Gold gens don't help anything or anyone.

I remember when people actually were willing to work for what they wanted on Gaia. Those where the days. When anyone could get anything they wanted as long as they were willing to put in the effort. I miss those day.

A gamble is a gamble, would you freak out at a casino if you spent 500$ only to lose it all?

Hopefully not, and hopefully you learnt a lesson. emotion_kirakira

That's not really how that wording would be interpreted, though. In that case, the "could" would mean "you are able to crack it open", since the "could" is referring to cracking it, not what happens once you open it. The sentence, as written, really is saying "if you open this, you will get either trillions of gold or mountains of GoFusion Charms". There's nothing in the wording to say "you might win trillions of gold, or you might win substantially less". So the wording really is misleading, and one shouldn't need to rely on prior knowledge of how much a scam Gaia's gold generators are in order to properly interpret their announcements.

Not that I have much sympathy for someone who would buy a gold generator, but the wording is definitely inaccurate as is.

The trillion isn't guaranteed, it's just the top prize in an entire pool of prizes.

Serves you right for buying a gold generator and helping to further cripple the economy. Next time take the safer bet and buy an item to sell.
