Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hi there :]

One of the most helpful things I can imagine the Site Feedback forum could have is a sticky that we can all strive to have our ideas be on. The ones you, the Gaia team, have seen and like enough to add to this list; letting us know that you've got plans to act on those ideas at some point and we don't have to fight for the first page anymore.

We need to talk about the petitions sub-forum. Those poor folks just want your confirmation that it's something you like enough that you'll do at some point. They bump and sign every day with hope that just MAYBE you'll catch a glimpse of their ideas. We like to think of Gaia as a democracy, and sometimes--it is. But if we're honest, most times you guys do as you please. And that's cool; hey, I don't know what it's like to run this place!

At the very least, I think it would be a convenience to those who frequent the Site Feedback forum if you'd list something along the lines of 'Things you've suggested that we may have interest in doing.' That way a person can read the list, see whether their idea is on there or not, and if it is, great. If it isn't, even better. They can post something they know hasn't been looked at yet, and see what you (and the rest of the forum) think about it.

Points gathered thus far, just to clarify:

- This wouldn't be a 'this is a list of the things you're guaranteed to get' list. You can never make promises; especially not in the business world. What this would be, is a sticky that says 'This is a list of the things we've acknowledged that you like, that we agree have potential, and that aren't too big that it could hurt us if something unexpected were to happen.'

- This sticky would differ from the very old Feature Suggestion Thread (FST) in the following ways:

1.) It would be a list for looking only; no-one can post in it and cause more reading work for the staff. All suggestions would be like usual--threads that you create and hope get noticed by everyone in general. (I still don't get why VO's old item sticky is still there when we pretty much suggest all sorts of things in Site Feedback itself owo')

2.) Gaia was new back then, and we had a LOT of things we wanted. Now we have most of them. If a new list were to be started, I'd imagine it wouldn't be nearly as long as it was in the FST. (I mean what are we suggesting for these days: Recolors and masculine items? I know there are more, but it's not as big a list as the old days ;3)

3.) This list would be more strict and have bigger expectations than the old days. Back then, a simple idea like 'more hairstyles' could have made the list. Not this one. Only the best of the best ideas would make it on the list, and the people who pushed for those ideas could finally relax. Not that it's guaranteed, but that it's been acknowledged and even more thankfully, acknowledged possible. -w- <3

4.) And obviously it would cover all feedback types (items and features). Or, if it would be neater and less management to have two separate stickies for those two types, go for it.

- Even if something is already on the list, you should encourage people to still suggest ways to improve on those things, as long as you like it too.

- It would be a good way for you to keep track, too. There very well may be golden ideas lost in the nearly 5000 pages of user creativity you missed. As a writer, I know to write gold down when it hits me! Because MAN forgetting it sucks x_x

- If you've lost confidence in people paying attention to stickies, I recommend rewarding those who do! If you made a daily chance trigger for each sticky a person clicks, you increase the chances of people scrolling down real quick and seeing important new information. Just a thought :{D~

Thanks for a place to suggest ideas to begin with, by the way. My favorite forum, hands down. <3

I think this is a great idea. ^^ It would be very helpful to those users whose ideas happen to be on the list, like you said. No more feeling they have to fight the good fight, for it has been won!!!
Although, I would pity the poor staff who had to scour through the pages of petitions or site feedback perhaps to keep up with user ideas and how they synched with what Gaia staff members were planning on bringing out. lol

It certainly is an abyss of thoughts and suggestions. But we do know that staff pay attention to us. I've had codemonkey pop in on my thread before. ^ ^

It's a new year. Maybe not go digging in the 5000-page pile we have (not including petitions, which I'm sure has a lot as well). But sometime soon. 2013's Suggestions. Give just a little more attention to this year's creative minds and write down the team's favorites where we can all see them. smile

He is pretty active isn't he? I've seen him pop into a thread just tonight already. biggrin
That's a good point. lol Although they've likely taken note of some things in the past year already. A head start maybe! I sure hope someone on the staff sees your suggestion and takes it to heart. smile
I'd love to have a sticky like this, so I can at least know if staff have seen my ideas or not and plan on getting to them, eventually
I like seeing repeat threads because each OP brings something new to the table.

If an old idea was on a Sticky list, I'm sure people could still suggest additional things for that idea. Over time, the list could have newer and better thoughts on ideas that we'll all have contributed in making great ^ ^

It may be a good idea to encourage people despite something being on the list. Like 'This is here, but if you have further ideas for it, have at it! Let us see them.'

I think this is a GREAT idea. I'd love to know if something I want done has caught their eye or if I should keep begging for it in hopes that it will x3

Didn't they have a thread like that once upon a time? I just looked and I didn't see it, but it doesn't matter cause it's was seriously outdated and ignored even when I did see it, which was years ago.
I think it's a good idea. I'd love to know what they're considering doing. Just so long as they keep up with the thread.
Forgive me if I must legal bump. It would be nice if we could be able to stop thinking about our idea threads well-assured that they've been taken note of.

The optimistic way to think is 'someone is always watching this forum.' But it is pretty easy to feel like we're just talking to a wall in here sometimes. sweatdrop
It's a good idea, but people can't seem to be encouraged to read the stickies.

Yeah, I admit I used to ignore them myself. Maybe we need to suggest a way to make them stand out more as well @~@

Or reward you for clicking on them :{o~

Plans change and too many people would assume things on that list are promises, it'd be too much hassle for the staff and not enough benifit to instate.
