Sick and tired of not understanding what's going on with those numbers? I think it's about time we reshape the way you see math and give you the tools you need to... Well... Survive of course! Hah hah hah hah!

We'll be offering some Math Help for those who want it, [ and I need some practice myself, considering I'll have a minor in Mathematics Science (while majoring in Computer Science) ].

Topics: Any, Programming (Java ONLY). [No Statistics]

~Meet The Staff~

[Owner] Calculus Freak (a.k.a. Jack of All Mathematician Trades) says:

I'm a pretty patient guy and as long as you are there to learn and commit yourself to it, I'll be there for you.

Huh... I guess I've been somehow dragged to get on this site, thanks to a certain Suki~.

After getting bored in the C&T forums, I decided to make a service shop of my own. I'll use this shop to warm up on some Math, and at the same time improve my tutoring skills.

I come off extremely nice and will be willingly as to show you a few shortcuts in Math, especially to those that aren't going to major in Math (or hate math, heh heh).

Hits: Very versatile with about any Math subject. The patient and willing to teach type.
Misses: The latter topics of Calculus [Advanced Integration and Above], once in a while, he'll need a slight refresher on the material beforehand [Grabs Textbook] when it comes to tutoring, then he'll be good!

Suki Mora chan says (a.k.a. Personal Home-School Tutor):

I prefer to be called Suki or Kuro, don’t ask where the second nickname came from because even he doesn’t know and I would prefer not to be asked. I helped him design the shop and is now help run it. I have a pretty decent patience level (8.5 out of ten or 85% out of 100%). I am a level three tutor but I can help to up to level four, but I require a bribe for that.
I'm very persnickety about forms so I suggest you fill out the forms and do it so I can understand it at three in the morning.

Hits: She's versatile with most topics up to Pre - Calculus. Is willing to teach anyone around her level.
Misses: "If you are here to goof off, then just leave!"

Note from Calculus Freak: I recommend contacting her if you have any problems with Logarithms, as she's more refreshed on that topic than I am.

Topics: Any up to Algebra 2 / Trigonometry (and some Pre - Calculus Topics).

~What's New~

Calculus Freak now takes walk-ins!

Calculus Freak now offers webcam/audio sessions within the tutoring process, free of charge.

Still bored? Feel free to scroll through the creativity of bumps.

~Coming Soon~

New Topics: Physics, Programming/Computer Science. We'll see how that goes when this shop blooms more

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE FIRST PAGE, it will make life a lot easier on the both of us (plus you may find Easter eggs and if you tell me about them through PM, good stuff will happen!). Now where were we. Oh yes.

By using our services, you are agreeing to take liable consequences and are FULLY AWARE of the penalties within Gaia's TOS, and our TOS. AS A SIDE NOTE, THE MATH SHOP'S TOS, TOPICS, AND THIS WHOLE FIRST PAGE MAY CHANGE FREQUENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING.

Failure to comply to any of these rules will consequence in a warning, denial of services and/or being reported for improper business conduct / behavior / where else deems fit.

Regarding about Homework:

UIS Academic Integrity
What is academic integrity?

Academic integrity emphasizes the respect for knowledge and the respect for others' ideas. In essence, academic integrity ensures that you receive merit and proper recognition for your work.

UIS academic integrity policy teaches you to succeed with integrity and helps you develop leadership skills that will benefit you in your chosen profession.

The Admin
Homework Help
Do not make threads asking for people do to your homework for you on Gaia. Asking others to do your homework for you is considered plagiarism. Plagiarism is a serious academic offense, and any threads asking for people to do all or part of your homework for you will be deleted. Attempting to trade gold for papers or other homework may result in a temporary or permanent ban.

So if you dare even ask about "doing your homework", you are double dipping there with my Campus's Policies and Gaia's as well. It also spell an automatic report on yourself.

Disclaimer: Even though I know quite a bit of material, I am human and once in a while and I could potentially screw up once in a while. With that in mind, use these services at your own caution. Especially if your teacher grades your work based by accuracy versus completion. This applies to me, and (soon) the whole staff working here.

By signing up for tutoring services, you must:

- For crying out loud, please state your times in Central Standard Time (CST, -6)...
- Respect other tutors' and peers.
- Please do not contact other tutors' unless you are pertaining to BUSINESS about our tutoring services. OTHERWISE, WE WILL REPORT ON SIGHT. NO EXCEPTIONS
- ESPECIALLY DO NOT SPREAD OTHER TUTOR'S CONTACT INFORMATION AND THEIR STUDENTS. YOU WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY REPORTED AS WELL FOR PRIVACY INTEGRITY. If you message a tutor anywhere outside this site without first talking to any of the tutors, you will be blocked.
- Don't flirt with other tutors or talk to them just for a conversation.
- Do not troll or make any arguments within the Math Shop or through the staff by PM [with the exception of Mathematical arguments]. You'll be automatically reported for doing so.
- Be as descriptive as you can when getting a problem from the textbook or a worksheet. Leaving a few key words can change a whole problem completely.

- Mention when it's due and someone will come and do it as help you as soon as possible.
- When you register for the times you want to get, BE THERE.
- When canceling/postponing tutoring service, please mention about it A.S.A.P. Preferably within 24 hours or sooner of the date you've been assigned to.
- Familiarize yourselves with mathematical symbols as you type the problem up. For example:

+ Plus
- Minus
* or ( ) Multiplcation
/ Division
^ Power
√ - square root
root[ ] - my notation of a square root
root#[ ] - nth root. Example: root3[...] Is called "Third Root".
| | - absolute value
log#base# - Logarithm. "Log number base number" Example: Log Three Base Nine.
ln() - natural log
e^ - "E"

Etc. Symbols [Just copy and paste em']
∑∙∞∩U∫≈≠≥ ≤∆∂θ

Note: Respect is a huge one.

I remind you to give patience to the people you are working with. Each of us may have different teaching styles. For example, while I give you a problem, I also challenge you once in a while and question you with a random problem just to keep your mind sharp. I know there are people out there that want to get answers only. If you are going to use these services for that, then may I remind you that doing things the easy way is not going to help you on later on with your education. My philosophy in teaching is to rather teach you the material so you can better understand it yourself and can do better with grades.

~STAFF & SCHEDULE~

****ALL THESE TIMES ARE SCHEDULED AT CENTRAL STANDARD TIME!
Note: YELLOW = SCHEDULE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Note 2: Suki Mora chan is listed as a serious tutor, only PM this person if you want to make an appointment.

~Meet the Math Topics~

So you eager beavers ready for some Algebra? If it isn't tedious enough to find x, they make it more complicated by creating..... Fractions. It's quite a bit of pain for those that have to go through fractions, radicals, and those word problems as well. Don't worry, we'll make sure you come out safe.

Oh, so now they like to throw in formulas for different shapes, doing proofs, and going 3D on us now, right? This topic is really a visual interpretation of Algebra. Sometimes people who do well in Algebra may struggle in Geometry. Though, if you struggled in Algebra, then you may have some luck in this topic.

More algebra, and now trigonometry? I wonder how you fare in that. Discovering such topics as graphing complex functions, then getting into ellipses, hyperbolas, 1/x... But wait, now we got to throw in some trigonometry features and use the unit circle! FML worthy for most? Indeed. (I'll give you some advice about the Unit Circle: Just memorize the first quadrant if you have problems memorizing it. There are some nice patterns you can find out for yourself.)

Great, now we combine all of these in one house. You did it my good mathematician. At this point, you are sufficient enough and endured the struggles of math. You know the basics of the math language at this point. Give yourself a gold star. Though, there's no time to take a break. Because such topics as the slope of the secant line comes to play, and vectors as well. Gross, but the training in Pre-Calculus will get you ready for the real deal... Calculus.

You may complain that math should of stopped from last year, but you can go EVEN FURTHER. Creepy huh? Let me give you a nice layout of Calculus since the majority of you users are not that familiar with it.

All you have learned in math is somewhat of a lie now.

All you have learned in math is something more complex than what you're given. In an equation, you know the slope? That's a derivative. It's a change in y, over in the change in x with respect to position.

After Calculus blows your mind on even more shortcuts in math, you will figure out that you can divide by zero thanks to a theorem just to check the limit of an equation. Taking the derivative of an equation once or twice can wield you the answer. Or maybe taking the integrand of an equation once or twice can wield you the answer as well. You can even find out useful applications from optimization to figuring out the minimum and maximum of ANY graph... WITHOUT USING YOUR CALCULATOR! You can save money and don't have to get a calculator thanks to Calculus.

Be quick though! You must be crafty with all the lessons you've learned because my friend....

ANYTHING GOES IN CALCULUS

What Qualifies for the Lower Pricing:

First Year Java Users

What Qualifies for the Higher Pricing:

Programming Projects / Debugging
Other Computer Languages

* Feel free to tip at anytime for excellent / dedicated service.
** Though, don't abuse it and purposely separate each of your questions one by one on P.M.. I'll get rid of this feature if that happens.
*** First Session is a FREE TRIAL, which means after you are satisfied with our services, YOU MUST PAY [Be honest if it's helpful or not, I can tell when you're scamming. You'll be reported for dishonesty].

Why I say it's a free trial is that so the tutor can evaluate how you learn math while you get to know their teaching process.

To make transactions easier, you must pay in full after going to your session.Awesome sauce, PM me that

IMPORTANT: IF AT ANY TIME, YOU CAN NOT PAY THE SERVICES IN FULL, THEN YOU PAY AT LEAST HALF (50%) OF THE SERVICES FOR THAT WEEK AS A MINIMUM. You will be charged as an outstanding balance and services will be discontinued until it is paid.

By the time you choose to postpone or discontinue the tutoring services, you will have to pay the remaining balance as soon as possible.

IF THE PAYMENT IS STILL NOT PAYED WITHIN THE DUE DATE, EVEN AFTER GRACE DAYS, THEN I HAVE THE RIGHT TO REPORT YOU FOR IMPROPER BUSINESS CONDUCT OF NOT FULFILLING YOUR DEAL.

(Scneario I)
Let's say after the week, PERSON A owes 10,000 gold for using these services. Person A can't pay it in full but they have enough to pay the minimum of 50%. HALF of 10,000 gold is 5,000, so Person A has to pay at least 5,000+ in order to continue their services.

(Scneario II)
After PERSON A has a good time with the tutor for two weeks with four hour sessions, if PERSON A constantly made Minimum Payments for those two weeks for 10,000 gold, and they still owe 10,000, THEN THEY MUST PAY THE REST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WITHIN THE GRACE PERIOD OF X AMOUNT OF DAYS AND THE DUE DATE.

Additional Comments / Questions:

Copy n' Paste folks! It has never been so much easier to get help!

THOSE WHO DO NOT FOLLOW THE FORMAT WILL BE WARNED OR IGNORED! YOU GOT TO BE MENTALLY CHALLENGED NOT TO READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS!

- After you receive confirmation that the time slot is there, please be on time. When you miss two sessions that you scheduled, your future sessions will charge you extra and/or will be denied of service. Though, if that tutor missed your time without a good reason.... Well, you get more knowledge for free! Hah hah hah.

~Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)~

You are sure that bored and keep bumping yourself daily. Did you make any of these?

Unless stated otherwise, then nope.

What do the levels mean?

These levels represent the material they can cover up to.

Tutor Level 5(Calculus Specialist)- Must be in or previously taken Calculus.

Tutor Level 4(Math Survivalist)- Must be in or previously taken a Pre-Calculus topic. "Math Analysis", "Pre-Calculus", etc.

Tutor Level 3(Algebra++/Trig Specialist)- Must be experience and exposed to both higher levels of Algebra and Trigonometry and/or be currently taken Trigonometry.

Tutor Level 2(Geometry Specialist)- Must be in or previously taken Geometry.

Tutor Level 1(Algebra Specialist)- Must be in or previously taken Algebra.

Intern(Mental Math Specialist)- Must be in or previously taken Pre-Algebra.

What if I missed my appointed schedule?

Depending on the tutor, they may penalize you for continuous missed appointments, etc. If you think you will start to be busy, send the tutor (or me) in advance which dates you might not be able to make.

Are there other ways to contact you?

Yes, but only through my g-mail through CalculusFreak@gmail.com.
The other tutors' and my own contact information is not visible until after we get you set up into our system.

I'm a MAC user and I can't access Microsoft Word...

I want to apply myself to become a tut-

Quote:
Prog Drummer
I like the idea of this shop so my question is: is it possible for others to become tutors as well?

Until the shop becomes completely active. then I will not hire anyone else.

If you are that interested in the process, to start of with. I will throw in a rigorous 100 problem set that covers all topics in math. You will have to pass a certain number depending on which level you apply for. That will not happen for at least... a couple of weeks so you hang tight there then.

Let me hint you that this test will not be easy. I will force you to do more than just finding x. It's practically an ONLINE BAR exam. It's all worth it if you manage to pass that, and pass a few specifications. DO NOT EVEN ASK WHAT THEY ARE.

For now, just enjoy my shop and feel free to talk to me about questions or what not.

In addition, the test is all WORK based. No multiple choice, no true/false, no matching. Pure work, and only work. Either invest in a scanner or you better be good with Microsoft Word.

Edit : I won't hire in a very, very, very long time. Considering the movement of the Math Shop, customers come by real slowly so I won't even hire anyone with the exception of my recommendation. Don't even ask either.

- When finding a variable, remember these relationships in order to cancel terms, ultimately getting you close to x that marks the spot! ;3

+ <-----& -
* <-----& /
powers <-----& roots
log c b = a <--------& a^b = c
e^ <------& ln

=======

Want to show off your mommy and daddy? Try a taste of Calculus.

y -> y' or dy/dx

Ex: Find y'. [Edit : Thanks Lucky 9's]

2y (3x + 4) = 5

Product Rule: ab' + ba'

a = 2y
a' = 2y'
b = (3x + 4)
b' = 3

6y + 2y' (3x + 4) = 0
6y + 6xy' + 8y' = 0
6xy' + 8y' = - 6y
2y' (3x + 4) = - 6y
2y' = -6y / (3x + 4)

y' = -3y / (3x + 4)

In reality folks, besides that ONE measly step of Calculus in it, the rest is just algebra.

You're on the right track with the Easter egg.... This doesn't count as one.
