"Action stations, action stations. Set condition one throughout the ship. This is not a drill."

Zero Hour.

Picon Fleet Headquarters is destroyed in the opening wave of the attack, as are 30 battlestars. In response to this, Admiral Nagala takes command of the Colonial Fleet aboard the battlestar Atlantia and instigates a counter-attack against the enemy. Additionally, the Colonial government orders a full stop on commercial and civilian space-travel, leaving hundreds of non-military vessels stranded in surrounding space-lanes. After the devastating assault on Picon, Colonial President Richard Adar broadcasts an unconditional surrender to the Cylons, but his gesture is completely ignored. All senior members of the Colonial government, including Adar, are henceforth presumed killed or missing, and an emergency government contingency mechanism activates to seek out surviving government officials.

The Cylons proceed to destroy each colony's population and strategic centers by means of nuclear bombardment. The Second Cylon War, if you would call it a war. More of a slaughter if you ask any of the humans ‘lucky’ enough to survive...and again, lucky is hardly the word that should be used. Casualties estimated at about 50 Billion. The entire Colonial Fleet and Government are wiped out. The Battlestar Mycenae now fights to escape a Cylon force in orbit of the Colony of Leonis, which is all but destroyed. One of the ships lucky enough to be designed against Cylon infiltration, they stand a tiny chance of escaping from Cylon forces, but nowhere to go, and the thought that all of humanity has collapsed, chaos reigns throughout the ship.

Boom. Multiple Cylons missiles have impacted the Mycenae. Bulkhead doors have been sealed in case of decompression. Fires rage on multiple decks all through the ship. Reports of Cylon boarding parties have cropped up, followed by the dispatching of fire teams to eliminate the opposition. The ship prepares to jump, calculations taking longer than they should, due to the fact that the ship's computers are not networked. Four Viper Squadrons of Twenty Vipers each engage Cylon battlegroups. Cylon numbers are high...unable to be counted. The pilots are some of the most skilled in the Colonial fleet, but they won't last very long against the Cylon onslaught.

Boom. Another impact, this time larger. Damage of the Starboard hangar bay is catastrophic, yielding the entire space useless. More fires plague the ship, and Damage Control teams scramble to rectify the situations and evaluate the damage. Time on the clock till a jump...ten minutes. The CIC is buzzing with activity, Commanding Officer and Executive Officer barking orders every which way, trying to keep their calm. If they panic, everyone panics. Ten Vipers have been destroyed...ten good pilots have found death in battle against the Cylons. Cylon casualties are unknown, unable to be estimated, and irrelevant...there are too many of them.

Boom. Another hit...several compartments have been vented...killing innocents, to save the ship. Several Cylon boarding parties have been eliminated, at the cost of many Marines. Another ten Vipers gone...that was an entire squadron of good pilots, including the CAG. A few fires remain aboard the ship, but they are contained and the Damage Control teams are working swiftly. DRADIS confirms another Cylon Basestar entering the fray, and another swarm of Cylon Raiders. The Mycenae's gun turrets working hard, manage to eliminate a large chunk of the Cylon attack force. Ammunition stores run low, followed by morale. All reports indicate Cylon boarders were eliminated.

Boom. Five minutes. Tensions were running high. The latest explosion rocked the entire ship. More Cylon boarders confirmed. Fire teams were in disarray. The call went out to the Viper Squadrons to make combat landings and prepare for the jump. Three minutes until jump. Centurions breached the CIC. Gunfire ensued, and the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer were killed, while the other crewmembers opened fire, destroying the Cylons. Panic now ensues, people rushing around, everyone trying to give commands. All Vipers are reported aboard. The jump clock hits zero, and through all the chaos, the Battlestar Mycenae makes its jump, away from Cylon forces. Moments later, in the space around Leonis, multiple nuclear warheads detonate.

Battlestar Mycenae now floats in an uncharted sector of space. All that stretches in every direction is the unknown. The ship is heavily damaged, and is without a CAG, a CO, or an XO. To ensure the survival of the crew, and as it seems, what remains of humanity, is for order to return, for someone to take charge, and to begin a search...supplies...a planet to colonize...anything, anywhere that may be safe from the Cylons. Of course...even now, the crew of the Mycenae are not safe. Cylons are among them...they look, and feel human...some of them may even be programmed to think they are human. There are many copies...and they have a plan.

This is Day One.

▶ Chapter I :: The Battlestar Mycenae...

The Battlestar Mycenae, preparing for its next tour, collecting supplies and receiving crew members returning from shore leave, orbited the colony of Leonis. Admiral Morenas, Commanding Officer of the Mycenae, was on his last tour before retirement. He had served on this old Battlestar for years...since the First Cylon War. He had refused any other set of orders. It was his home, and the crew, his family. The crew itself, of about five thousand, had been on multiple tours together, getting a few newcomers here and there. They were close, at least, as close as a crew could be. They were much like a family, looking out for each other, working as a perfect group. After this final tour, the old anti-Cylon ship was going to be decommissioned like the Galactica. They had maintained it, just in case the Cylons decided to attack...but it had been forty years, and there was no way the Cylons would ever be seen again...or so they thought. The attack came swiftly...the planet was nuked, and civilian ships trying to escape were torn apart by the Cylons, who formed a blockade around the planet. The Mycenae fought desperately, but sustained heavy damage, lost twenty Vipers, and four hundred crew members, including the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, and Commander, Air Guard. A lucky jump is all that saved them. The highest ranking officer aboard the ship, Major Antov, who had been head of the Colonial Marines aboard the ship, was suddenly thrust into an unlikely position...Commanding Officer of a Battlestar. One of his best pilots, Lt. Lysander 'Poet' Deloy, was in the brig for striking a superior officer and disorderly conduct, while another, Ensign Persephone 'Scholar' Joallis, was still recovering in the sick bay. Chief Petty Officer Hardin, Chief Engineer, was busy running repairs on the ship's heavily damaged systems. And the Cylons found them once more...all the Vipers hit the skies, and a race against time began...three Basestars, hundreds of Cylon Raiders, against Sixty Vipers and a Battlestar. Running low on ammunition and supplies, and taking heavy damage, the crew of the Mycenae needed to find somewhere safe to restock...but with only enough in the ship for one jump, their choice needed to be made carefully. Every second the Vipers held back the Cylon onslaught, more good pilots could lose their lives...and with Nuclear weapons armed and ready, the Cylons could wipe out all that remained of the human race.

The Nuclear missiles fired, but luckily the Mycenae was able to make a jump to a hidden mining facility. In the Port Hangar Bay, tempers flare up after a violent crash by Poet, that destroys his Viper, as well as Scholar's. The two clash, and are taking to the brig by a group of Marines to await the Commanding Officer. Back in the CIC, the search continues for a suitable XO and CAG, while Raptor teams are deployed to investigate the nearby facility, and retrieve a stock of tylium fuel. Without power to the engines, the ship is nothing more than a floating hunk of metal, hidden from the Cylons by the electromagnetic field created by some of the metals contained in the asteroid field. However the mission will not be as easy as first thought, as a war rages between a group of terrorists, and a group of survivors from Leonis, that have absolutely no clue about the Cylon attack. Unknown to the entire crew, a group of Centurions are holed up in the Starboard Hangar Bay, waiting...

▶ Chapter II :: A Poet, A Scholar, and A Terrorist walk into a bar...

After their successful jump, the Battlestar sits in an asteroid field with dead engines. Antov has officially become the Commanding Officer of the Mycenae, as has been introduced to his first major problem; his men are trapped in the mining facility by a group of Terrorists, know as the Soldiers of the One, led by the mysterious Kuril McVeigh. His demands are simple...control of the facility and its ships. The price is high for the crew of the Mycenae as Antov sends out several teams, made up of the last Marines available on the ship, along with Poet and Scholar, in hopes that they can secure their friends, and perhaps even save the survivors, while retrieving the much needed tylium fuel. But the Terrorists are relentless, and there are darker things that lurk in the belt than just a terror group. If Commander Antov and his teams do not work fast, they could face a two front war, as the Cylons could find them at any moment.

Poet and Scholar encounter the leader of the terrorists, a man named Kuril McVeigh, who also happens to be Poet's Uncle. When diplomacy fails, the Marines and the two pilots engage in an all out firefight, killing most of the opposition, and leaving Kuril crippled. Meanwhile, Eclipse and Bullseye manage to rescue the missing crew members and the surviving civilians, and the two teams rejoin forces, evacuating the facility aboard their Raptors. A stock of tylium fuel and spare parts are hauled in by the mining and refinery vessels, the Hermes and the Helios, but the men and women of the Mycenae have encountered another problem. The ship has drifted free from the asteroid field, leaving them open to a Cylon attack, and while the fueling takes place, and the engines restart, it will take ten minutes for the FTL drive to spool up and be available for a jump. Against orders, Poet leads a squadron of Vipers against the Cylon fleet, holding them off just long enough for the fleet to be ready for the jump. After returning to the ship, Poet and Scholar are taken to the brig, where their violent argument becomes...something different entirely. Chief Hardin also discovers the presence of the Centurions aboard the ship, but luckily they were temporarily deactivated. The Centurions have now sealed themselves in the Starboard Hangar Bay, and reactivated their tracking beacon. Even with a successful jump, the fleet is not safe...and now, among the survivors, a new threat has arrived...

▶ Chapter III :: We Can't All Be Stim Junkies, Y'know?

The Cylon Fleet has been tracking the Mycenae for an entire week, and the attacks come at random, never more than forty-five minutes between strikes. Everyone is on edge, after 176 straight hours without sleep. Many members of the crew, especially pilots, are suffering from stim overdoses, as well as psychological issues. Brother Cavil, the ship's new religious counselor, has volunteered to give psych evaluations and help the crew deal with the hardship...and the evaluations have been made mandatory for all pilots, as well as at least one session with Cavil. Lack of pilots has pushed the remainder of the squadron beyond reasonable limits, with double and triple shifts on the Combat Air Patrol. Multiple teams of engineers and Marines prepare to breach the Starboard Hangar Bay, and eliminate the Centurion forces, and deactivate the tracking beacon. Supplies are running low throughout the ship, and the civilians are panicking. After his bout of exhaustion, and almost falling asleep during one of the engagements with the Cylons, Poet is dragged off to sleep, haunted by nightmares and horror. Persephone met with Brother Cavil, who put his plot in motion with the planting of Leoben in her exit path. His mission was simple; Seduce Scholar, and kill Poet. Disguised as a Viper pilot, his task seemed easy. An hour-or-so later, Gunnery Sergeant Vandercourt and Lieutenant Deloy set out to destroy the tracker, and breached the Starboard Hangar Bay. While successfully destroying the tracker, the price would be high. Vandercourt's squad came under heavy attack by the Cylons, who continued further into the ship from their hiding place, and a large explosion has extremely injured Poet. The Vipers have engaged the Cylons, who have entered for another attack...one jump could save the ship, but without a confirmation on the tracker's destruction, they were sitting ducks.
