Max.
Following after her, Max had to distract himself from her lips. Women chewing on their lips had always been a thing for him. Nevertheless, he wanted to keep his mind on the task at hand, so he took to following her slower than he normally would. He wanted to have as much time as possible to look around at everything that could form a reasonable explanation out of why anyone would want to break in here. After a few moments to himself, he smiled and spoke up. "Yeah, you're right. I am pretty new to the city. And, I guess the thing that brought me out here the most was my old town, if that makes sense." He paused and tried to think of what he really wanted to say. "That is, I was tired of my home town, as beloved as it was. I needed to change something and when this job popped up, I couldn't turn it down. So far, it hasn't really been all I had hoped it would be, though..."
He looked at each door as they passed by, listening to her small description of what happened in there. But, still he wondered just what she might be hiding from him. She seemed trustworthy enough, but there was just this air about her; as if there was something that she desperately wanted to show the world, but knew she couldn't. Max allowed his hands to slip into his pockets as he began to relax around her more. It seemed pretty weird and almost surreal that he was here, on a case his very first day on the job. Whenever he thought about it, Max got the shivers and almost thought he was dreaming at one point. But, no matter how excited he was, he couldn't let her know just how new he was to the job, or she would take advantage of his inexperience.
Unexpectedly, Max began to get a familiar feeling in the pit of his stomach. It unsettled him and turned his cheeks slightly red at the thought of what was happening. He tried to hold himself back, but knew that it was useless. He gave in and a yawn slipped through his lips. Max covered his mouth with a sheepish look and mumbled a "sorry." He knew that had been incredibly rude of him, but there was no way he could have held it back without looking like a moron (and that was something he really didn't want to do in front of her.) He just hoped that she wouldn't get too offended by it. After all, it wasn't her. He was just really tired.
