Plot
"Welcome to the Glade."
The sound of rattling and mechanical grinding echo against your skull. All you have on you is the clothes on your back and whatever supplies are being sent up with you, but when you wake up, you don't know this. You don't know where you are, who you are, or what your name is-but don't worry, that's the one thing they let you keep, you'll remember it in a few days. All you know is you just woke up in a metal cage elevator you'll later learn is called "The Box", and as it hits a stop, the top is pulled open to two guys and one comes hoping in to check out the supplies as you crawl out. Surrounded by bright sunlight and a bunch of guys around your age, all staring at you and you panic. Don't worry, everyone does.
Eventually, they talk you down, welcome you to the "Glade" and explain the three rules they've used to keep themselves alive and live in peace. If you don't feel like abiding by these rules, you'll be thrown in The Slammer on the outskirts or out in the Maze. "No one's survived a night in the Maze" they forewarn you as huge gears rattle as the gigantic doors to the maze roar to life, closing with a final boom as vine covered concrete hits concrete.
They through the monthly celebration to greet the newest Greeny-that's you-and one of two leaders introduce you and explain the hierarchy. Yeah, it's a tad overwhelming, but you'll settle in quickly. They've already set up a cot for you in one of the shelters, the rest, well you have to work for that, afterall, the first rule is "do your part". If you prove notably skilled, you'll get what could be called a promotion if you weren't all equal. Yep, no matter who you are or what you do, you're all brothers here. Oh-did we mention there are only guys here? Apparently the first generation of people here-we found a wall with their names carved into it, we started our own next to it and scratched out theirs, we don't know what happened to them, died or escaped-had one female sent up, but thus far, it's remained pretty male populated. Most guys here don't even remember chicks, but then again, we can't even remember our parents.
So kick back and relax for tonight, tomorrow, we'll start the real work and see what you're made of Greeny, and maybe by then you'll remember your name. Then you can carve it into our wall on the maze and become a real Glader.

You're a Glader and have no real recollection of your life before waking up in The Box except what little flashes you've gotten from your dreams. Either way though, who you were then doesn't matter now, you're a Glader and that's all that matters. You work and keep up your end of the first rule and maybe have even been assigned a specific job now. That's all the easy stuff. The real fight has just begun for you, but has been going on for some time now for the rest of the boys, they've established some sort of civilization and have been thriving and surviving.
No one knows what lies beyond the maze, much rather if there really is an exit or not. The runners have been working on mapping it, but the results are pretty secretive. You're the second group of people in here, the proof is carved into the wall and the bones found in the woods. No one knows what happened to them, whether they survived or died in there, but now it's your turn to decide what happens to you. Do you belong to the maze? Or will you fight to escape? The decision is yours, but remember, "no one's ever survived a night in the maze".
