In the year 2021. A virtual reality MMO game developer, named Sunset Chastity, who innovated virtual reality technology that they call NanoDiver, and released it's new game. A new VRMMORPG called Haven Online, also known as HAO. The company over the past few years has already had growing success with VR games. Releasing hit blockbuster titles such as Portal of Fantasia, Gears of Spira, and Radiant Eternity. Players of HAO would be surprised to find no character appearance options in the character creation menu. They would discover that their avatars would have their real-life appearance, that could be detected thanks to the NanoDiver rig. Ultimately, it was a design choice by Sunset Chastity themselves. Instead of the past VRMMOs where you could alter your character's appearance, they wanted everything out in the open so you could be better immersed in to experiencing the world. Though, no one could've predicted what followed after it's release. On the opening day of HAO's launch, a hacker breached Sunset Chastity's servers and forever altered it's programming. The incident was deemed an act of cyber terrorism. The 6,000 thousand players in the game could now no longer log-out of the game and were now hostages to the hacker's will. Their demand was simple. To escape, the players would have to clear all 50 stages of the game and should their character's health ever drop to zero and die, they would not die in the real world. Instead, their characters aka their minds, would be sent to the virtual hell where they would be tortured and tormented by their worse fears and horrors. While their bodies remained in a vegetative state in the real world, they would all suffer until the day the game was cleared... It's been three months since that day this game of suffering began. Only four stages of the game have been completed and eight hundred players have already died.

In HAO, also as in real life, there are many paths you can take. Not all of them for the best. I wonder... Which winding path will you choose?

As you can probably expect, this rp is inspired by SAO so don't be surprised if some of the same setup is used. For instance, there is no magic in Haven Online. HAO revolves heavily around weapon combat. The only sense of magic in HAO are items for healing, teleportation, and items that offer temporary boosts to stats such as agility, power, or stamina and some weapons will have an element attached to it, but they are SUPER RARE! So please don't go crazy with that. Towns and Inns in HAO follow the same rules as from SAO. There are warp gates in every town in HAO where you can freely teleport to any other town in any of the other stages as long as that stage is unlocked. Towns are also strictly safe zones, meaning your health can't deplete in a safe zone unless your player has agreed to a duel. As for Dueling, the same applies. There are the three modes. Normal. Time-Limit. And One-Strike. Normal, the duel continues until one player gives up or a player's HP drops to zero, the player left standing at the end wins. Time-Limit, in a time limit duel, each players has sixty seconds to dish out as much damage as possible, because whoever has the most health at the end wins. One-Strike, in a one strike, the duel continues on until one player who manages to land the first blow wins.

Weapon List

As I stated above, some weapons will have an element imbued to it to further increase it's effectiveness. Here are the types.

Fire - Engulfs enemies in flame, dealing gradual damage
Ice - Freezes opponents and their movements
Lightning - Stuns foes, deals great physical damage to stronger ones
Wind - Breaks through enemies guard, deals great physical damage to stronger foes
Slay - Instantly kills weaker enemies, deals great physical damage to stronger foes

When it comes down to the weapons. They can be broken down into two separate categories. Power and Speed. Power Weapons put more priority on strength and rely heavily on a player's power stat. As players gradually increase their weapon skill with these weapon types, it enables the user to produce whirlwinds while performing attacks, further increasing their damage output and range. Speed Weapons that belong to this category place more emphasis on combos and often utilize a character's speed stat. As players gradually increase their weapon skill with these weapon types, it allows the user to perform an air dash right in the middle of an attack or when leaping up.

Power Weapons
Spear
Pike
Double Voulge
Great Sword
Flail

There are a total of 50 stages in Haven Online. Each stage comes with a different aesthetic design so that no one stage is the same as another. In every stage, there is a final boss that our guarding the gates to the next stage. When the boss is defeated, the seal on the gate is broken thus unlocking the next stage. Naturally, the higher the stages, the more difficult the game and enemies become. But also keep in mind. The higher the risk, the better the reward. Be careful hunting now hehe.

Rain awoke in the inn room he had paid for the night. His silver eyes stared up at the ceiling as he just laid there for a minute. Taking a look around, it was a quick reminder. He was not in his room, back in the real world. He was still in the game. Still in this game of pain and suffering. His lips parted just slightly as he breathed out a small sigh as he moved to sit up from the bed. Swinging his legs over, he planted his feet to the wooden floor of the inn room. The wooden floorboards were cold at first, but he did not flinch from them. It was almost haunting sometimes, how much you could live a real life here. Rain didn't often come back to the 1st Stage, not because he didn't like it, but for a more personal reason, but he did usually come back to get a room to sleep for the night. The inns in the first stage were so far the cheapest and he didn't want to spend too many Bits since all he needed was a bed to rest in. Bits are the form of currency in Haven Online. Sure, paying for a more expensive room on one of the higher stages were better decorated, had better service, and would get him a better bed so he didn't have to sleep an extra few hours to recover his stamina, but that stuff didn't matter to him. He was a plain and simple guy and if the plain and simple way worked just fine, then that's what he did. Reaching his hand out, he picked his glasses up off the dresser next to the bed, and slid them back on to his face. The NanoDiver gear's scan could see his face, so it knew he wore glasses. Not that he needed them in the game to see obviously, but to be honest, without feeling that tiny weight pressing onto his nose made him feel a little uncomfortable. One good thing though was that because they were part of his character's avatar appearance, they wouldn't break or ever get dirty. Yet, Rain still found himself subconsciously rubbing them with his shirt from time to time merely out of habit. With a swipe of his hand, he opened the game's interactive menu. First thing was first, check for any recent news. Players published information throughout the network at an almost constant rate. He had even heard there was a guild that was solely dedicated to reporting news.

His eyes scanned over the recent newsletter to see if any new helpful or useful information had been posted. Unfortunately, after reading through the pages for about ten minutes, nothing stood out. The only thing that seemed relevant was that another twenty some players died yesterday in the fourth stage dungeon, probably trying to find the boss he bet. Rain closed the window and looked up, hard staring at the wall. It's been two weeks since we got to the fourth stage and we still haven't found the boss yet. Letting out a small groan, he supposed there was no point to grieve for them. Those players, they were dead now. He could do nothing for them. The only thing he could do was get stronger and help to end this miserable game as soon as possible. To that end, he stood up from the bed, and opened his inventory menu. Equipping his gear back on, namely his white coat and black boots, he left the inn and headed for the warp gate. Every town in HAO had a warp gate where you could teleport freely back and forth to any stage as long as the stage was unlocked. Besides, the guild he was in, Storm Winds, had a leveling quota they wanted their members to fulfill. They wanted everyone at least level twenty or above before they went on a fourth stage dungeon raid to find the boss themselves. Considering Rain's reputation, he usually wasn't invited to join any guilds or parties with other players. They were usually afraid of him. But Rain knew why. The guild's leader and founder, they wanted the White Reaper. It was a nickname Rain actually hated, but because he had killed two people, and his fondness to wear white clothing caused the imagery for players to dub him with the nickname of the White Reaper or White Devil in some cases. The rumors inevitably sprouted. They ranged from him annihilating a whole squad of seven players just to get a rare item, carving down several others just because they were getting in his way, or just massacring players because he enjoyed the challenge and thrill of taking out high-level players. The two deaths he actually was responsible for, one was completely by accident. During the first stage boss fight, one of the boss's minions struck another player so hard it sent them flying through the air and in to his path as he was attacking the boss. There was no chance for him to react quickly enough and stop, before he knew it, he had cut down that player on accident and saw them vanish before his eyes.

Some say he snapped that day and maybe they were right. The pain of taking a life, it struck deep down in his chest, and Rain became a savage rage-filled beast. He continued fighting the boss, attacking with an unbridled aggression never seen before with no concern to the safety of himself or others. The second death however, was not accidental. He had killed another player, whom was the leader of a party to about six others, because he had to. They were loud and brash, cocky and arrogant. Rain hated those types the most, the gloaters who enjoyed the sound of their own voice too much. More importantly, suicidal, and were leading those players to a for certain early graves. If he had let that madman continue leading those players, they all be dead now. Walking into the fourth stage forest, this stage was caused Fauna, and for good reason. The whole area was practically covered in lush green forestry all save for the towns, but even then most of the buildings were covered in green ivy and the monsters here typically all had a plant affinity or were large mammals and insects that commonly live in forests. He figured after about a few hours of grinding, he could raise his level, and go shopping to either improve his gear or buy better ones.

With a small sigh Basil raised up out of her bed at the inn she was staying at, kicking her legs over and standing up.She raised her hand bringing up her menu switching into her usual gear.It had been awhile sine this deadly game had started and Basil had seen some terrible things. She and her older brother had actually entered the game together planning to become the best in it together and start their own guild little did they know that all of this was going to happen. She currently was in a guild mainly because she knew that it was best for the boss battles and sometimes leveling up but she honestly trusted know one inside the game other than her brother who was off somewhere probably grinding at the moment. He had joined one guild since his time in HAO early on during the 1st floor but during the boss battle while they were fighting the monster attacked out of pattern and was about to kill him and one of his guild members took the blow saving his life.He blamed himself for the players death and has played solo ever since. She shook her head closing her menu and walked out of the inn into the streets.

She walked quietly her hands in her pockets looking around. She always tried to stay on her guard even in towns like this "might as well"she muttered to herself going to a portal and transporting herself and then walking into the fourth stage forest. She looked around it was sometimes scary how realistic this game world could be.She walked running her fingers along the lush green moss covering some of the large trees and then forced herself to re focus. She scanned the area for monsters her hand lightly on the chain at her side but then noticed someone off in the distance not a monster but another player. She tilted her head to the side trying to get a better look you didn't run into players alone on these floors very often and then she laughed a bit it was that one guy she'd heard of a bit before "White Reaper"she muttered the words to herself. He was supposedly a player killer of some kind but she feared know one in this game. She waited and watched and then at the last possible moment before he could finish his kill lashed out her whip destroying his monster and winked at him "hello"she said with a confident smile.
User Image~Zero~ Jace Alexander Light ~Zero~

Jace had been waiting for months for this game to come out and had been very excited that being a rare thing for him in and of itself. He lived with his grand parents since his parents had passed away at a very young age. They had noticed his skills with Kendo almost as soon as he moved in with them and they were very hard on him about it and very proud. They forced him to train more than one would think possible spent money hiring him the best partners to train with and learn from and it was all alot of pressure.Honestly Jace had lost interest in it and hated spending all of his time training it but he didn't want to disappoint them, so for the last few years of his life he pretty much kept to himself training and in his spare time playing video games. He loved them it was like an escape from reality where he could be someone else.He knew it would be even better with this game being as realistic as it was but of course things went horribly wrong.

Jace has kept to himself since the start of the game not only for the simple fact that it's his personality to prefer to be alone but he knows people in this game could turn on him at any time. For the first bit of the game he pretty much stayed holed up in inns not doing anything but one night when he was out walking and was attacked by a monster he realized how much his kendo skills in real life came into play here and gave him a huge advantage since then he has began grinding heavily and even fighting a boss alone and his level has been raising quickly. He is not as known as most of the other high level players because of his preferring to keep to himself and especially him never having been in a guild staying solo the entire time.He was walking down the path of the 4th floor forest having taken out a few monsters grinding and noticed a pair of people off in the distance.A girl and a boy it was rare to run into other players here especially two.
