Thristletooth shook his head. " Looks like the leaders are getting ready to speak. " As he said that Morningflower began and Boulderstar followed soon after.

Boulderstar followed after Morningflower and waited for her to be done. He stepped forward with his head held high. " Thunderclan is proud to announce we have five new apprentices. Fernpaw, Strikepaw,Reedpaw,Tinypaw and Finchpaw." He waited for the cats to welcome them. " Even though we had a minor dispute the other night Thunderclan holds strong and have recovered quickly. " He made sure to mention the battle between Shadowclan to let Shredstar know his clan was still strong and doing well. " I wish Windclan luck after tonight. May this new beginning grant you more prey and healthy warriors." He nodded to Morningflower. " Owlstar was a good friend of mine ,Thunderclan will always be there for Windclan in the time of need." He stepped back and grinned making sure to puff his chest out and his back straight.

Frogtail stared at Boulderstar and bristled as he spoke. She hated how confident he was and how he felt the need to take care of other clans like they were lesser then him. Her tail began lashing back and forth without her realising it until Duskgaze hissed as her tail kept slapping her on the legs.

Graypaw shrugged " He was quite old but it's all to odd." He stopped talking as the leaders broke into a line to face the clans. He sat and listened to Morningflower try to seem tough and Boulderstar using her weakness to his advantage.

Lightningblade stared at Morningflower trying to read what she was thinking but he got carried away with her confident attitude and started to smile. Though she was an very secluded cat he believed she would do well as a leader now that everyone depended on her and she couldn't just run away.

Crystalstar stepped forward once again to announce the gathering to be over. She flicked her tail for her clan to head for the log and return to camp.

Grasspaw nodded. When the leaders were done and the gathering was over he started to relax more knowing they would be home soon. He saw the thunderclan apprentices and quickly waves his tail goodbye them.

Twinefoot frowned, " Guess we will find out later." He padded back to the clans just as the leaders lined up to continue the gathering.he followed after Crystalstar and started to talk to her about the event of today.

Rowanpaw sighed , he was to exhausted to do anymore then that.

Mousewhisker settled down on the shore to wait for Shadowclan to pass, the mousy-brown toms whiskers twitched at the oncoming breeze, and he knew it wouldn't be long before Shredstar left the island. He knew that the dark tabby tom disliked staying on the island longer then he needed to, even as an apprentice, to those passing him he seemed to be quietly thinking.

Shredstar snorted as he meowed just loud enough for Morningfeather to hear "Nice to see that Windclan still needs Thunderclan to watch over them-" his yellow eyes seemed to darker as he headed over to his deputy and touched noses with her, she seemed feverish and tired, but her eyes had been focused on the deputy of Thunderclan most of the night. "Shadowclan, lets move-" the tom signaled to be the second clan to leave the island, the dark tabby tom impatiently waited for the Riverclan cats to cross.

Stoattail sniffed as she stood and ruffled her thick black pelt against the cold, the she-cat paused to wait for the Riverclan cats to cross, her yellow eyes drifted towards the Thunderclan cats. She noticed how even if they appeared strong they bore wounds from the battle, her eyes wandered over to the brown-and-white tabby she-cat who was jerking and squeaking, she wrinkled her nose in distaste. When her amber eyes landed on the black-and-brown tom the fur along her spine rose and her eyes grew wide, she could swear that she was looking at Scorchedbark in the fur, but that was impossible, she had helped bury him.

Rainingpaw shrugged and meowed "Starclan works in many ways." the apprentice watched her mentor sway alongside Shredstar and meowed worriedly "Do you think Foxglare is going to be okay?" her blue eyes darkened slightly at the thought of losing her mentor.

Minnowtail nudged Creekpaw and Grasspaw onto their paws and meowed "Come on, lets get you two back to camp." his green eyes were as gentle as his voice, Silverleap nodded towards Whitecloud, as she quietly followed Riverclan off of the gathering island.

Rabbitleg had finally managed to soothe some of the worse fears and settled down beside Lightningblade, she was proud that Morningflower had snapped out of her daze, and meowed "She is going to make a fine leader." she nodded in approval.

Owlpaw stood and nudged him onto his paws "Come on." she murmured, she wanted to get him back with the others, and knew it was best to stay near the more experienced cats during the end of a gathering.

Whitecloud gave Featherpool a tired look as the apprentice winced and settled down against his side, panting and exhausted her green eyes had become dull, and the tom meowed "A lot better." he kept his voice firm so that she couldn't hear how shaken up he was "She might need some help getting back to camp-" he looked down at Finchpaw who was half-asleep and half-awake laying alongside him.

Tinypaw had paid attention to Boulderstar and was proud that he was willing to help the Windclan cats in their time of need, he wanted to call out in approval, but he kept quiet. When Shredstar summoned his clan he nodded to Graypaw and meowed "See you at the half-moon meeting." he dipped his head respectfully to the older tom.

Reedpaw felt pride when his name was called out, but it was tarnished because most where busy watching Morningflower, an the tom sank a bit. When the meeting broke up the tom stood and arched his back in a long stretch. The tom watched as Shadowclan was called together and prepared to leave the island, he noticed most looked battered but none looked seriously hurt, all but Foxglare who seemed dead on her paws. The tom felt an intense stare and looked up to see a black she-cat staring at him, unnerved the tom inched closer to Thristletooth.

Featherpool looked at Finchpaw and frowned. " I'll get Tinypaw to help her walk back or I'll get Cedarbreath or Lilyclaw to carry her ." She saw how tired the tom was and didn't want to push him any farther. Tinypaw was small enough to support Finchpaw properly and Cedarbreath had longer neck then the others.

Eveningheart hurried over to wait for the other clans to cross. Everyone seemed to be doing much better now and padded on exhausted but calm.

Icepaw glanced at Foxglare and realised she was pretty badly injured. " If she keeps being stubborn then I doubt it. Mousewhisker is talented and can heal almost anything but only if he can actually get to it first." She mewed bluntly. She didn't like seeing her deputy wounded and looking so weak.

Morningflower glared at Shredstar with sharp eyes. Though she was grateful for Thunderclans offer she would not dare ask for help. Without saying anything she guided her clan over the trunk with steady paw steps while carrying Owlstar with another warrior and quickly took them back to camp. She had to appoint a new deputy before sunrise so they could continue doing their duties. She padded to the center of camp and laid Owlstars body in front of her and called out. " Let all cat old enough to catch their own prey gather before me for a clan meeting" She didn't care if it was late, she wanted to move on from tonight. When the sleeping cats and the cats who came to the gathering sat down she began. " Owlstar is dead, during the gathering he had taken a fall off the branch and landed on his neck." She told them the truth with no sugar coating it so there were no questions. " I am now the new leader and I must choose the next deputy." She glanced around the clearing to try and read everyones expression. " I say these words before Starclan, that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of Windclan is Rabbitleg. Rabbitleg, you have shown great courage and during tonight's turn out you had kept a level head showing you can deal with tough situations . Do you accept this position?" She held a stern gaze to Rabbitleg. The only way her clan would accept her is if she hardened up more.

Cedarbreath stood beside Strikepaw as they waited for the other clans to cross. He heard featherpool say his name and he turned his head to face her.

Thristletooth looked at Reedpaw with a questioning look but quickly dropped it as they got ready to leave.

Boulderstar stared with a blank face as they started to leave. He wanted to be well away from Shadowclan and retired to his nest where he could sleep.

Frogtail padded close behind Shredstar and Foxglare. she couldn't wait to get back to camp and sleep.

Graypaw flicked his tail to Tinypaw . " See ya." He smiled before joining beside Mousewhisker

Ripplefur crossed the log behind his leader and padded to the safety of the main land. They quickly made their way to camp . Once he was in camp he headed straight for the warriors den and went right to sleep.

Lightningblaze sat in front of Morningflower as she called for a meeting. Owlstar no longer looked as frightening as he did back at the gathering but the sight of the dead leader made Lightningblaze upset. When Morningflower announced the new deputy Lightningblaze's eyes widened with happiness. He looked at Rabbitleg and smiled greatly as he waited for her to answer their leader.

Grasspaw followed after Minnowtail as they made their way back to camp.

Rowanpaw hung his head as they returned to camp. Even the meeting Morningflower called didn't excite him. He knew it would be about Owlstar and it only made things worse. When Rabbitleg was offered to be the new deputy he brightened up some but not enough to look away from the ground.

Rabbitleg had been taken off guard when her name had been called out, around her cats brightened some and nodded in approval, drawing herself up the she-cat stepped forward and dipped her head "I will do my best to serve you and Windclan." the she-cat dipped her head, accepting the position had felt almost unreal for the lithe she-cat, she hadn't expected to become the deputy in her life, and now she drew herself up trying to look more proud, but her whiskers trembled with excitement and her amber eyes shown her surprise.

Owlpaw had sat quietly watching Morningflower call a clan meeting, it was strange that it wasn't Owlstar, but she guessed they would get used to Morningflower leading them. When she mentioned selecting a deputy the apprentice perked up, when her mentors name was called, her yellow eyes widened with surprise and her grief was momentarily replaced with delight. When Rabbitleg accepted the position she saw her mentors excitement and nervousness and raised her voice the loudest "Rabbitleg!" she called in approval.

Shredstar guided Shadowclan back onto the opposite shore and headed back to camp, he kept a decent pass, ignoring Foxglare who was falling farther and farther behind, her amber eyes showing her panic. The dark tabby tom was lost in thought, he was thinking of Owlstars death, and how he could use it to his advantage.

Hookscar caught up with Foxglare and allowed her to lean heavily on his shoulder, he shyly lowered his eyes, seeming to remember who he was he quietly guided the deputy back to the camp. It wouldn't surprise him if the deputy lost her life within the next few days. The toms pale blue eyes followed the movements of Shredstar who seemed to be lost in thought.

Stoattail watched the tom until she was nudged to cross the fallen tree, she forced herself to calm down, sure she had been mistaken and the young tom she had laid eyes on had not bore the same pelt as Scorchedbark, swallowing she quietly fell into an easy trot.

Rainingpaw bristled at her friends comment but knew she was right, Foxglare had always been snippy and driven, and as she watched her mentor falling behind he fell into step beside her loyally trying to encourage her back to camp.

Whitecloud gave her a grateful nod, he noticed the gathering island had emptied until Thunderclan was left, the white warrior pushed himself onto his paws and nudged Finchpaw onto her paws, shakily the she-cat stared ahead of herself unblinking.

Tinypaw nodded to his mentor and hurried to help support his sister, he was glad for his small size, and allowed her to lean heavily on him, he longed to be in his nest asleep, and putting this gathering behind him.

Strikepaw glanced at the last of the Shadowclan cats as they left the island, he knew they would be leaving soon, and gave the gathering place one last long look, trying to memorize it, mainly for the stories he could tell the others who had been left behind in camp.

Reedpaw watched the black she-cat disappear on shore and meowed "Thristletooth, why are Shadowclan cats so strange?" the black-and-brown tom gave his chest a couple of licks trying to forget about the she-cat and her intense stare.

Ravensong kneaded the ground eager to get back to camp to tell Sootflame about what he had missed.

Featherpool watched as the last Shadowclan cat crossed. She crossed the log with no problems and looked back as she waited for Cedarbreath to pick Finchpaw up and cross the log. She wanted to be able to dart out and catch Finchpaw if Cedarbreath slipped.

Lilyclaw waited with Fernpaw as it was Finchpaw and Cedarbreaths turn to cross. " How was your first gathering?" She dared ask as a attempt to try and lighten the mood a bit.

Dappledflower nodded in approval as Rabbitleg accepted to be the deputy of Windclan. She had watched over the young she-cat since she was a kit and knew she would be perfect as a deputy and future leader.

Icepaw Watched Foxglare some more. Each paw step they took worried Icepaw. She didn't want to witness another death tonight or anytime soon. It was hard enough staying calm over the sight of Owlstar. She ran beside Stoattail to try and distract herself from everything going on. " It's a fine night." She choked out without looking anywhere but in front of her.

Morningfeather nodded " I will make the journey to the moon-pool early in the morning. Until then, let us say our goodbyes to Owlstar." She waited for the elders and medicine cats to prepare Owlstars body. Thornpelt placed mint on Owlstar's body before kneeling his head on the dead cats pelt. Morningfeather placed her head on owlstar aswell. Brindlepelt touched her forehead to Owlstars and said goodbye to him before making her way to the warriors den.

Boulderstar led his clan back over the log and onto Windclan side of the lake. it was quite chilly as the wind rolled down from the hills and ruffled the cats pelts.

Cedarbreath Quickly grabbed Finchpaw and glided across the log. When he got to the ground he set her down and waited for Tinypaw to help her again.

Thristletooth chuckled at Reedpaws comment "It's probably from all the frogs they eat. I would be acting weird to if a slimy creature wiggled around in my belly." he tried to hide his smile but it failed and he just went with it.

Frogtail watched as Foxglare fell behind her. She wanted to help her but figured she would just get in the way. Instead she moved beside Shredstar . " Windclan sure has an interesting leader now, don't they?" She looked forward with stern eyes. She couldn't believe Windclan had chosen a cat like that to lead them. She seemed a mess until the last minute.

Graypaw looked at Mousewhisker with worry. " Is she going to be okay? " He asked as she looked at Foxglare.

Lightningblade Chanted Rabbitlegs name but it quickly died as Morningfeather mentioned Owlstar again. He Padded up to the old leader and bowed his head. " Goodbye Owlstar, thank you for leading us well for all these moons." He padded back towards the warriors den but sat in front of it as he waited for everyone else to be done. He smiled towards Rabbitleg, he was so proud of his friend.

Crystalstar padded into her den and quickly fell asleep.

Tinypaw hurried over the log and took his place at Finchpaws side again, although his sister leaned almost her full weight on him, he was glad she wasn't as large as Reedpaw or Fernpaw, the tom grunted as he meowed "Hang on, we'll get back to camp, and you can sleep in your warm nest." he tried to sound up-beat but his voice squeaked. The small black-and-white tom nodded to Cedarbreath, grateful for his help.

Reedpaw laughed at the toms comment and glanced up to see his mentor smiling, which made it even funnier for the apprentice, and he purred "I'd bet that's why they are so slimy!" the toms whiskers twitched.

Whitecloud followed close enough to Finchpaw to ensure that Tinypaw didn't need help, he didn't care how tired he was, he would be there to help his apprentice even if it killed him.

Shredstar slowed his pace some when they reentered Shadowclan territory, he was glad to be back on familiar ground, and the tom slowed a bit to keep pace with Frogtail. "Morningflower doesn't seem completely fit to be a leader, does she?" the tom twitched an ear and continued "Windclan itself seems to be weakening greatly, to bad we don't share borders with them, or we might be able to see how strong their warriors are." his yellow eyes narrowed thoughtfully "Did you overhear anything at the gathering?" he glanced over at the she-cat with an intense curiosity.

Mousewhisker grunted as he placed a paw down awkwardly, but he kept himself from stumbling, the deputy bounced along seemingly losing her will to fight back against his help. "I don't know-" his eyes darkened slightly as he meowed "She should've known that staying back would've been better then risking her life, she doesn't have nine lives like Shredstar, hopefully we can get her back into my den and keep her there until she heals properly." the tom noticed that her shoulder was bleeding again, slowly, and he sighed.

Stoattail blinked out of her daze to smile at her apprentice, she saw that Icepaw looked a bit out of it, and she meowed "It is a lovely night, a bit cool, but lovely." her amber eyes brightened some as she meowed "Would you like to go hunting tomorrow?" she glanced over at Icepaw expectantly.

Rabbitleg deflated a bit at the mention of grieving for Owlstar, the pale brown she-cat bent down and touched noses with Owlstars body, and murmured to the tom "Thank you for your guidance and wisdom. Rest easy in Starclan knowing Morningfeather will defend your clan now." she then stood and headed towards the warriors den. She saw Lightningblades smile and returned it, she slowed, and sat beside him to watch the rest of the clan grieving, she didn't know what to say so she remained quiet.

Owlpaw padded over to Owlstar and pressed her nose into his cold pelt, she hated the scent of mint on a deceased cat, she just wanted to remember their scent. "Goodbye." she murmured, she had been named after Owlstar, and now she felt the weight of having to live up to his image. The speckled gray she-cat nodded to her mentor before heading into the apprentices den.

Minnowtail and Silverleap retired to the warriors den to sleep, they didn't even share tongues like they would've, they just went right to sleep.

Featherpool padded into Thunderclan territory and relaxed her stride. She hated being in Windclan for how open and windy it was. She kept her eyes so she could see Tinypaw while also watching her clan mates to make sure they were all well.

Icepaw nodded with excitement. " I would love to! " She was happy to know she would be doing something tomorrow instead of wandering around camp looking after the elders and Whiskfur. The thought of Whiskfur reminded Icepaw how close the queen was to having kits. " It will be exciting to have some new kits in the clan. I won't be the youngest finally." She smiled . She didn't mind being the youngest but that just meant all the older apprentices pushed their camp duties off on her. She was happy to be in their own territory now and padded confidently completely forgetting about Foxglare.

Thristletooth nodded. " You are what you eat, is a saying the elders like to use." He chuckled. Besides Owlstars dramatic death tonight had been great for Thristletooth. The cat he was against must of been bound to camp and he got to be with Reedpaw on his first journey to the gathering. " Was the gathering as great as you expected it to be." He scoffed at how great of timing Owlstar decided to die. It would stick with the young cats for a long while.

Boulderstar silently entered their territory but didn't relax any. He was quite down with the gathering and was quite conflicted on what he should be feeling. He had no idea how Morningfeather would act as a leader. He barely ever exchanged words with her when she was a deputy. He didn't like not knowing the ways of the leaders. He felt exposed and weak. He flicked his tail for Eveningheart to come closer.

Frogtail shrugged, she didn't hear anything to juicy. " Riverclan are eating well and I suspect one of them are expecting kits or just really really fat, A cat attended the gathering with an open wound in Thunderclan but I couldn't tell who it was ." She glanced at trees as they passed by. "Windclan is obviously a mess right now but what else is new. Other then that they all just boasted about prey and receiving new apprentices."

Graypaw looked to the ground . " Will there be enough room? Jaggedheart and Shrewpaw are still in there." He tilted his head and squinted his eyes." Thunderclan had a cat that almost had the exact same wounds as Jaggedheart, maybe we could move him to the elders den until he is healed for now?" He looked at Mousewhisker with hopeful eyes.

Lightningblade watched as the elders began to take Owlstars body away. " Atleast Morningfeather has made good choices so far. Keeping the gathering going, picking you to be her deputy. She sure isn't blind when it comes to smart decisions." He purred as he turned his head to look at her. " I think most of them want you to be their leader right now." His eyes gleamed with amusement.

Birchwing stared at Owlstar's face for a bit longer. He wanted to try and find out what had caused his leaders sudden death. Old age is one thing but usually the old cats just get tired and sleep till die. Owlstar on the other hand showed no signs of knowing he was going to die during the gathering. He backed away as the elders carried him off. Birchwing nodded to Huskpaw to return to the den and sleep. He would have to ask starclan what happened.

Shredstar twitched an ear, he couldn't claim that Thunderclan was being foolish for having a wounded warrior come to the gathering, not while Foxglare remained in the care of Mousewhisker. "It will defiantly be interesting to see Morningfeather try to take command of those rabbit-chasers." the tom noted the moon was almost completely out of the sky and he sighed inwardly. "How has Shrewpaws training come along?" the dark tabby tom asked patiently. The clan was making good progress toward camp.

Mousewhisker gave Graypaw a thoughtful look and meowed "Good idea, but we'll both need to help him move, I don't want him ripping his stomach open again." the tom narrowed his eyes thoughtfully as he meowed "I would send Shrewpaw with him but I worry that his wound will get infected." it wasn't that he was not worried about Jaggedhearts wound, he knew the tom was strong enough to recover, but he also knew there would be little he could do from stopping a severe infection from setting in.

Stoattail nodded in approval and at the mention of the unborn kits of Whiskfur the she-cat fluffed her black pelt up "I am sure they are going to be strong, fine kits." she nodded in approval. "It wont be long until you receive your warrior name, maybe if there's time, you could even mentor one of them." her amber eyes shown at the thought of her apprentice mentoring her own apprentice.

Rabbitleg twitched her whiskers at the toms compliment and comment about the clans nervousness in Morningfeather. "I have faith that she'll use all nine lives to benefit Windclan." she watched the body of Owlstar being moved out of camp, she wouldn't admit that sometimes she wondered if Morningflower was completely there, but now that she was the leader, she couldn't bring herself to gossip. But her amber eyes brightened some as she laughed "I think I would be terrified to become leader!"

Tinypaw felt a bit better as they entered back into their territory, where they where away from the cold wind, and he could slow his pace some. Featherpool seemed to be keeping an eye on them and he puffed his chest out to look stronger, and he was glad that Finchpaw was recovering enough to take some weight off of him.

Icepaw purred loudly at the thought of being a mentor to one of the kits. She couldn't believe how quickly she had completed her apprenticeship. It felt like just yesterday that she had been out on her first hunting patrol. " I hope I mentor as well as you did for me. I'll feel so bad if I mess up." She smiled.

Eveningheart padded faster to catch up with Boulderstar. " Yes?" She asked.

Boulderstar padded heavily as he grew more confident. " I'm planning on visiting Windclan soon. I assume Morningfeather will go to the moon-pool tomorrow so I'll visit the day after. While I'm there I want you to make sure everyone is well and have something to do. In short, You will be leader during my leave. I don't know how long I'll be but I'm going alone." He looked at her with strong eyes. " Make sure Thristletooth stays in camp for the next few days as well. I let him go to the gathering only so he wouldn't complain my ear off but I'd rather not have his blood be the new way of marking borders." He flicked his tail to dismiss her and started to pad faster. With Owlstar gone and Morningfeather having to work hard to gain respect he had begun feeling stressed.

" He is doing great. I have nothing left to teach him and everything I have taught him he has perfected. All that is left is his assessment." She meowed with pride. Shrewpaw has been a great apprentice. He was strong, quick and determined which made mentoring him a breeze for her. Even if Jaggedheart had helped train him she felt she had done the best for Strikepaw. She was more then happy with him since he was an independent tom

Graypaw nodded, " Jaggedheart would probably like the elders den more anyway. Starlingwing enjoys telling stories and Jaggedheart likes tossing out terrible jokes." He chuckled nervously as he was not sure if he sounded disrespectful or not.

Lightningblade chuckled, " I would be too but you'll do fine when your time comes. We all respect you and would be willing to give our lives to protect you and our clan." He smirked and yawned. " Let's get some rest. You don't want to sleep in on your first day as Deputy." He stood up and padded into the den . He curled up into a ball in his nest and fell asleep.

Shredstar nodded in approval and meowed "Good, when he has found his paws again I will join you on his final assessment." the tom watched as the camp grew closer and closer, he saw Swampbelly alongside Paleeye guarding the camp, the tom nodded to them as he slipped inside "Get some rest." he nodded to Frogtail as he headed straight for his den and into his nest to sleep on the events of the day.

Stoattail flicked her apprentices flank with her tail-tip and meowed "Any kit to have you as a mentor will be lucky." her amber eyes shown with pride as she meowed "A few more assessments and then you'll be moving to the warriors den." she watched as camp loomed in front of them "But go get some rest, we'll be at sunrise at the entrance of camp." she bid her apprentice a goodnight before heading into the warriors den and curling up in her nest.

Mousewhisker almost cackled at the mention of Starlingwing enjoying stories and Jaggedhearts terrible jokes, he hated to admit that he was growing fond of the idea of having Graypaw as his apprentice, and meowed "I am sure the elders would love to have a warrior in their den to make them feel young again." as they neared camp Foxglare sagged more and more against him until he took her scruff and meowed through her fur "Go wake Jaggedheart up and see him to the elders den, make sure he doesn't move about to much, if he starts to bleed fetch me." he knew the seriousness of moving a cat with a belly wound and he would hate to lose a young warrior to some foolish mistake. In the meantime the mousy-brown tom hauled Foxglare towards his den, slowing so that Graypaw could move Jaggedheart, before he laid the she-cat down to treat her.

Rainingpaw followed Mousewhisker, she planned on spending the night beside her mentor, until Mousewhisker grumpily sent her to he apprentices den, he couldn't have an apprentice underneath his paws while he tried to work.

Rabbitleg yawned as she nodded in agreement and slipped into the warriors den behind Lightningblade, she curled up in her nest, and fell asleep almost at once.
