Hello there! Glad to see you stumbled across my RP!

I am going to assume that all of you have at some point played FFVII or one of the subsequent sequels / prequels to it. Please do not join if you have not -- there is almost no chance of you keeping up with the storyline going on here. Personally I am a huge fan of the compilation and decided I'd like to try and make a roleplay featuring my favorite part of it -- SOLDIER. So I did! Welcome!

The following summary is the plot in a nutshell.

SOLDIERS, after the events of FFVII, were looked down upon as ex-dogs of Shinra, people who 'sold their souls' for power and prestige in a corrupt company. It was hardly fair treatment as the public seemed to forget that a mere two years prior - these were the people that children aspired to be like - heroes and leaders of society, people who would protect you from terrorists and beasts! Now they are publically despised, humilitated, not allowed good work, and they can't hide it because the glow of their eyes gives them away. Worst of all though - they can't escape the shadow of shinra, it haunts them with the addiction to Mako. . .and no one seems to care.

++Two Years After FFVII - 3 Months After Kadaj

Sephiroth was defeated.
Holy was invoked to save the world from Meteor.
Three months ago the remnants were defeated as well.
The people were saved from Geostigma by the ancient's blessing.

But there is always a new crisis.

It is a well known fact that after the Meteor Crisis the Shinra Corporation was strong armed by the people into disbanding it's military forces. Many of the soldiers returned home to their families to work simple day to day jobs. There were serveral who took their military experience into private contracting, bodyguard work, and many signed up for direct exchange program for jobs with World Regensis Organization ran by Reeve Teusti. With the WRO quickly moving to replace Shinra as the world's 'peace keepers' it seems the most logical choice for all involved.

There is just one thing everyone is forgetting: SOLDIER.

As far as most of the world is concerned the private military group just vanished in a puff of smoke with the disollution of Shinra. More likely - no one wants to address the problem. You see them sometimes, Ex-SOLDIER members. They cower in the streets with the disdain of the people directed at them - blaming them for all the actions of corrupt Shinra as they were it's 'poster soldiers'. They were not given unemployment for their discontinued service at Shinra and due to their enhanced mako abilities, most are not offered positions at the World Regenesis Organization, as the company is highly concerned with it's blossoming image. Instead they work odd jobs here and there - many of them taking to using their abilities for more questionable employment.

All of them end the same way though -- broken.

Shinra was a meticulous company if nothing else. Sephiroth, Genesis, Angeal, Zack, Cloud Strife, and more off the record, there are far too many examples of SOLDIER going rogue. Just one or two of them can cause incredible collateral damage to society. They needed a way to keep them firmly under control. Unsurprisingly, Hojo was the benefactor of the solution - a simple thing really - just enhance the Mako dosage with an additional chemical - a highly addictive chemical. It became part of standard operations at SOLDIER. The average grunt can go weeks without any adverse side effects and many of them are highly stocked on routine supplements to 'counter-act the negative effects of mako infusion'. The problem though? It has been over two years since Shinra fell and no one is paying reparations to these people nor are they being provided what they need. It was small at first -- concentrated attacks against Shinra warehouses looking for the chemical substance known as 'O-isopropyl methylphosphonofluoridate GB' or 'Isoprol' in the labs. On the street though? Ex-SOLDIER are snatching up hits of 'Oxy' - short for Oxygen obviously, a cold joke on how some junkies suffocate because their throat swells up when on the down binge. It was easy to get at first - many were still stocked on pills. Now that the warehouses are running out and most of the reserves are gone - they've gotten desperate. So they just have to take it. . .and so the wave of attacks started.

Yesterday a train full of explosives went off a rail going up the pillar and crashed into a medical facility functioning out of the section six slums. This happened at the same time Reeve Teusti was giving a speech on television, a broadcast hacked into and taken over by another image, a hooded figure declaring his group responsible for the attack, citing their demands that more Isoprol be made available, and giving a name, the "Mako Victimization Survivors", the Victims for short. There will be more attacks until they are given exactly what they want.

. . .But a new company like the WRO can't just give into terrorists, now can it?

Some have even taken to calling her 'Vice President of the WRO', she gets hounded endlessly..

It's people like you on the streets putting out the pamphlets and helping build houses for those in need. Without you, why, there would not even be a WRO! Endangered Scientist is your older sister.

Never really moved up the chain because you were a total jerk-off in your youth and never got promoted. Seems not much has changed, still bottom of the totem in the WRO. What's this though? Terrorists on the loose? Danger to the president and his assistant? A promotion? You are moving on up as a bodyguard!

Remember Hojo? You should - you were one of his lab techs. Never got access to the really spicy experiments but you did clean up after him, sterilize the equipment, and get to give the injections. Even got to help him make some of them. That's all old news though - Shinra's collapsed and you are living a normal life with your two year old child as a single mom. Who would think you'd be targeted for the injection you gave out on Hojo's orders? Idealistic youth is your younger brother.

No one really wants to see Rufus Shinra on television talking about the future of Shinra, right? He would probably be assassinated by a sniper. Instead you, the new Vice President of the Company, handle all social affairs like conferences and such. The real wheeling and dealing is still the presidents thing though. You see him maybe once a month, sometimes just on a vid screen, and usually just take orders through the Turks. Sorry, you are basically Rufus Shinra's bobblehead.

You ere there in the glory days of Shinra when the stories were fresh and ready to be told. Out on the streets hunting down the next big news source, that's you. Not much has changed either. Still out there getting the story, still pushing agendas without really meaning to. Always had a soft spot for the Shinra Organization - a lot of the stuff put out about them is false and you just know it. . .no matter how much is actually true. Someone has to get the real story out though!

Not every member of SOLDIER was booted off the company roster. A lucky few like you just had their job title changed. Well, not quite, you were poor and out of ork until just after the Kadaj incident when one Rufus Shinra stopped by and hired you. Something about needing a bodyguard who can fight off other mako infused invividuals. Kind of scathing for the Turks right? Maybe that's why they are not fond of you? But hey, you are the personal bodyguard of Rufus Shinra! Talk about moving up!

Someone had to fight for justice for the forgotten - you just happened to be the first to take up the mantle. Oh, you tried peaceful means, almost all of the people did. Nothing ever came of it though. If anything it just made the oppression worse. Now though, with you at the helm, they are starting to fight back. You have to be cold, ruthless, and efficient to win this one. . .funny. . .Shinra taught you how to be all of those things and more. Can you really stomach the things you must do to get what you want though? The terrorist acts? The collateral damage? You have to, nothing else seems to work. . .and this seemed to do the trick for Avalanche.

If Shinra owes the Victims anything, you feel they owe you even more. You were one of the first to run out of the pills needed to stave off withdraw. Shakes, tremors, weeks of little to no sleep, and a constant grating sensation in your skull. It's a wonder you did not die. Instead you had to use your amazing abilities to steal and work questionable jobs just to get by. You served with the Host during your time at Shinra. . .you wasted no time in joining up when she approached you. The one speaking during the hacked broadcast was you.

All SOLDIER members are of course trained in combat. Not all of them really excel at it though. Sure, stronger and faster is obvious, but some people just lack the coordination and skill. Why even put them in SOLDIER then? The group was very closed off and needed hackers and such too, you filled the role. Now you still fill the role of computer tech - one specially scouted out by the Host for your skills. Too bad she did not pull you out of Wall Market before a group of attackers crippled your right leg. Now you have to walk with a cane lest you lose your balance, a fresh reminder of how you've been wronged.

Shinra, to the very end, was producing SOLDIER, even as Cloud and Company flew north to battle Sephiroth and Jenova. You may very well be the last person to have ever been given the rank of SOLDIER. No one showed up after you, the last on record. That also meant that your troubles with addiction are better off then most. Unfortunately, it also means you got the tail end of the bad deal. Now here you are - a member of a terrorist cell that says they are fighting for you, but you question their methods. You are the father of the Endangered Scientist's child, though you've not spoken in two years.

When the Victims broadcast first came on, most people wrote them off as a Terror cell with no just cause, cruel inhuman villians. Some people had a different take on it. You in particular had a unique one - your father became a member of SOLDIER shortly after you were born and took part in the Wutai conflict. He died there but you remember him fondly. . .enough to know it's terrible how SOLDIERS are treated now. Ever since you saw the broadcast you've been trying to make contact. Funny, considering that you are the younger cousin the WRO Vice President.

Now you might notice that on the profile - I ask for an image. It must be anime. Yes; that is required. Real images are popular but do not work so well here since the canons will obviously be anime. No it does not have to be an original character. Just as long as you do not use a ridiculously obvious character - I do not want to see Naruto or Haruhi for example. I also do not want to see generic crap. Find something interesting. If you need help finding a character image just ask me and I'll help you out.

For the past thousand years every time the King of Notwist has died the barrier field encompassing the country has weakened. This allows for foreign nations and wild monsters to threaten the Magic Kingdom. Thus - they must keep a strong king at the head of the state to ensure stability and the continued existence of the Field. Unfortunately not just anyone can hold that position. The King must be of a fine stock, chosen by the ancient spirits, and capable of withstanding the Spirit of the King needed to control the field. They must excel in intellect, might, magic, and heart, and be capable of moving the Kingdom closer to a distant utopia.

++'Why can't the WRO just make more Oxy for the addicts?'

The public would freak out. For one thing they would be doing research type stuff on people, supporting SOLDIER just like Shinra, and giving in to terrorists. It would not end well politically for anyone involved. . .and that's sort of their main concern right now. The general public could turn on them at any moment with the wrong move.

++'How powerful are SOLDIER exactly?'

Cloud Strife and the Host are the only active Ex-First Class [Haha, Cloud] SOLDIERS in the roleplay. The Remaining SOLDIER was going to be promoted right prior to Shinra's disbandment during the Sister Ray incident. So for frame of reference, Cloud and the Host are the strongest people in the roleplay. Generally good to expect a loss there. Anyone else? Fair game. Really though, decide how battles are going to go and end before you start them, please. It just makes things easier for everyone. Do not expect to win every confrontation.

Characters will die. If all ends as about planned - half the cast probably will. But we all know roleplays on Gaia never really seem to reach a conclusive end, right? Haha...

Lots of chatter in the OOC. Be active there so you can keep up. I will regularly update with a summary though so people can jump in and be active. I do not want much generic downtime in this roleplay. Lots of active, lots of drama..

Get over it and pick someone else. We are not here to play out your fanciful fanfic ideals. Romance will be a part of this roleplay for the idea of it being successful but in general, I do not want love at first sight, and I do not want us planning couplings from the instant of start. So be flexible basically.

Of course! I was going to suggest people plan those out on their own before start!

++'Do I need to have played every entry in the compilation?'

Nope. You can get by with playing any one part of the game. Even Dirge of Cerberus could sort of give you an understanding. If you have any questions just ask me.
