Pompeii was a Roman city located near Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. It was a place that attracted many luxurious people and was a flourishing resort for the wealthy who desired to take in the scenery and all the lovely city had to offer, including its large arena, many marketplaces, and open squares.

In a turn of unfortunate events, in 79 AD, Mount Vesuvius erupted, covering the city in ashes and pumice. The night on which it took place was horrific, and many had to say their last goodbyes, if they even had the chance to. This tragic event wound up killing thousands of people.

However, some of these souls, the ones whose life in Pompeii affected them the most, the ones who felt closest to one another, did not give up hope to meet each other again. Even if they had to meet in another lifetime...

We are now in Japan, the year is 2015, and the catastrophe that happened in Pompeii that day had long since passed. However, there were some who felt like it only had happened just yesterday...

Having a past life was not something many believed in. It was a fun thing to discuss and sometimes thought as cool, but nothing anyone put their full faith in. Except those who had memories of their past life that is.

The souls of some who had been there the day of the incident have traveled hundreds of years to this time and place and have found themselves reincarnated as completely different people. Some of these souls remember vividly the days of Pompeii and those who were with them, but many others do not. And some seek to find the others they been separated from, while others are trying their best to forget the horrific images etched into their brains. However no matter what, each person has a feeling of regret deep within their soul. They wish that they could go back and do something over again, anything. That scaldingly hot night has left them in shambles for one reason or another, and they desire for a change. But, they are all just humans living in the 21st century, with nothing but memories that they couldn't share with anyone else.

Unless, they meet others like them.

In the past they were all connected in Pompeii in some way or another. Whether it be through rivalry, love, friendship or hate, they were all connected. In this day in age however, they aren't as close as they used to be. Many have jobs or go to school, and most of them hardly know each other if they know each other at all. Those without memories have it easiest, continuing on without a single memory of their past life, or maybe they had them but forgot over time and no longer have to carry the burden. But those with their memories have to deal with all of the sentimental, painful and emotional feelings that come from them. Some seek these people that had been important in their previous lives, and others wish to try and continue on with their current lives. But seeking acceptance and the ability to move on will not be easy without putting their souls at ease.

There must be a reason for all of them to end up in the same place. Were their souls trying to reunite again? Did they want to fix the past? Nobody is quite sure as of yet. The only way to find out though, is to find others from their past life in Pompeii. And as the people begin to come together, the time of return gets closer and closer....

Keep everything appropriate, that means no excessive gore/violence and time skips if more sensual things start happening.



ＸＸＩＩ． Dedication

If you don't plan on putting any effort into actually post and be active, don't join. This is going to be a long term commitment. I'm not expecting posts everyday or activity 24/7 , but a post or two every 5-7 days should be manageable.



ＸＩＩＩ． Posts

Please keep the text size as 9,10, or 11. Also no bright colors or pictures that stretch the post/page. In each post a picture of both your character's present self and past self are required, as well as their current and past name. Posts should at minimum be 500 words or so. If it's a bit less from time to time that's fine. What I ask for are posts that move the plotline along. Do not make posts that people cannot work with. It makes it difficult for everyone moving forward.



ＸＸＩＶ． Characters

Make them interesting. No Mary sues or Gary Stu's or God-Like characters either. I also do not want everyone to have a super shy, or energetic, or bad@$$ character. Mix it up a bit. For example if a lot of people want to make their character more serious, make them a jokester, and vise versa. Also anime face claims/pictures only, and we're going to try and keep the genders pretty much balanced.



ＸＸＸＶ． Past Life VS Present Life.

When making your present and past life characters, do not make them exact copies of one another, nor make them complete opposites either. The characters can have different genders, appearances, sexualities, ages, etc. However they must be similar in some way( some traits or mannerisms or likes/dislikes/fears, etc). Make it so that if we had a game where we had to guess whose past life belonged to who we'd be able to guess your character's matched up but it wouldn't be completely obvious.

There is an Extra Info section in this thread and another Info thread. Please familiar yourselves with these threads for information regarding past lives, memories, and Pompeii in regards to this role play. If your question is not answered in these sections feel free to ask/clarify something.



ＸＶＩＩ． Plotting

Many role plays encourage plotting, this one REQUIRES it. There are only simple outlines for your character's past life, but they are all connected in some way or another. Whether it be family, friendship, love, hate, rivalry, etc, they all knew (or knew of) each other. You can plot in the OOC or Private Messages with the other parties. Please try and include everyone because this will help to flesh out the Roman(past) character's history, relations, motives, etc. HOWEVER for the present characters, I would only like plotting for meeting/ future events. The majority of the characters won't know each other prior to the start of the role play so try to have as few past connections as possible. Any plotting for future endeavors between characters though is completely encouraged.

I do NOT want this happening EVER. If you do this you will be warned and potentially kicked out of the role play if it continues. If you do not know what this word means please look it up.



ＸＸＩＸ． Applying.

Within the application thread you will find a Background Check form, a Reserve Form, and a Profile Code. First you must PM me a completed background check titled "I was a ____ in my past life." (Fill the blank with whatever you want so long it's appropriate). After I approve, please post the completed character reserve code in the APP thread within three days. Once that has been approved you must make a new test thread to post your profile code in. I would like the basic info section of your profile completed within a week of your reserve being accepted.

I want to hear your ideas! Don't be shy when it comes to plotting, be open with your ideas. Also in both o.o.c. and IC don't leave people out, try your best to get everyone involved. Also I am the creator of this role play and would like to be respected, but I see us all as equals. Please follow my requests but do not be afraid to offer up ideas. Also so I know that you actually read all the rules please add an emote to your message when you send the background check in.One last thing, I can add more rules as I see fit and I shall notify you when I do so.

Our story takes place in Japan, and happens to take place at a "nice" summer retreat. Everyone was sent a mysterious letter along with a brochure advertising the Kioku Retreat. And in this letter was written that the retreat was free. Advertised in the brochure, it was a beautiful resort with nice rooms, a large pool, great food and a gorgeous view. There would be many places to go to; shops, awesome places for research, nice libraries, arcades, boat rentals, and tons of other stuff. You named it they had it. So you decided to go ( or had to go) for one reason or another. How bad could it be right? Well, it is nothing like the pictures. The view is pretty nice still, but everyone has to stay in small cabins/tents, eat in a cafeteria, use gross public showers. It is pretty much like living in an upgraded camp. So, why doesn't everyone just leave already? Well, they would but the buses haven't returned and aren't going to until summer ends and the nearest town would take about 3-7 days to walk to (give or take). For the rest of the summer the group along with many other people shall all be residing in this summer retreat. Nobody is really sure of why they have been asked to come here, epecially for free. But it's not all that bad, there will be lots of interesting activities and events, and hey there'll be smores!

Back in 49 AD, lived a group of people who were entwined as much with each other as they were with the beautiful city of Pompeii....

(These are essentially the roles your character's past self can have.
If there is a slash through the role that means it has been claimed.)

In the ancient city of Pompeii there was a gladiator who sought after wealth and fame as well as another rival gladiator who fought for their freedom.

There was also a young patrician woman who had both a loyal servant as well as an untrustworthy servant, and who lived near another patrician .

There was also an older patrician male who had a younger sister as well as a servant.

Within the city you could also find a young plebeian with their older sister. As well as a slave who would often wander near the residence of one of the largest sponsors and spectators of the gladiator duels.

This is the group who does have memories of their life in Pompeii. Some have more vivid memories and
others have very minimal, unclear ones. There are few who wish to hold onto their memories, never allowing their past connections

Do I have to be familiar with Pompeii to join this role play?
No, however it would help to familiarize yourself with the basics of it and the events which took place in 49 AD.

Do I have to be familiar with the manga NG Life to join?
Again, no. However reading this will help to show you how the memories and interactions may work for different characters. And it's also very funny and just a good read in general so I suggest you read it when you get the chance. =)


How do memories of their past life work?
They work very similar to normal memories. The characters will be able to more clearly remember their memories from the night the volcano erupted, but they wouldn't remember as much from when they were really young. However these memories feel a bit more faded or distant than those from their current life, so some people may doubt them being real.

How will the characters be able to recognize each other?
The characters with memories will be the only ones truly able to remember/recognize those from their past lives. If they were closer with someone in that lifetime it will be easier to recognize them, same if that person is very similar to their old self. They may not realize who the other person is at first but they'll at least probably find they familiar in one sense or another. Those without memories will not recognize them, but may feel as f they recognize them or they seem oddly familiar. How they react to recognizing the other person however is entirely up to you.

Can their present-selves speak to their past-selves?
Their memories and sense of their past life is strongest in their sleep, so they may be able to have brief conversations with them, but not often. However their memories in general are stronger in their sleep, so they can relive scenes from their past within their dreams.

Will those without memories be able to remember their past-lives? Or could those with memories lose them?
It is possible, but that can/may take place later in the role play. But for now, whatever state their memories are in will be how they are for awhile.

Do the characters in this lifetime have to have the same feelings towards people as they did in their past life?
Not at all.It would make sense though that if your characters disliked each other in the past, they probably would start off that way now but they could always come to like each other over time as well. Or vice-versa.

Will we be able to role play as our past-life characters too?
There will be future events regarding this, but for the start of the role play we will be playing as our present-life characters.

What do you mean by the characters have regrets in their past-lives?
On the night of the incident they all died, which is something that they may regret. However each character must have another regret, they did or didn't do something that night they wished they had/hadn't. For example: they wish they could confess their love, or they wish they could have protected someone better or something. Pick something that would irritate them for a long period of time, but also something that could also be undone in one night...

Will the characters share cabins?Or will they get their own?
That will be up to everyone in the roleplay. We could have people pick to be with each other, or roommates could be randomly picked, or solos, or rooming with an npc can also work. It will be decided upon soon.
