Gabe barely knew what was going on. The sounds of the drums started diminishing but were still there. Some one was talking to him, but consciously he could not understand what was being said. Gabe felt someone trying to make him comfortable. Then the drums blasted before stopping completely.

Gabe opened his eyes. It was fuzzy but he could make out Gwen.
"I need to kill him", Gabe said, "I need to kill Mr. Saxon, The Master. That is my purpose, that is why I was sent here. Just like to Victorian London . . . Jack . . . Ripper."
Gabe then felt his limbs go numb before fully subsiding and passing out.
"Care?" The Master scoffed, then sighed a bit bemused "You humans put so much value into that, don't you? Maybe because you have such short lives... so you want to add significance to that by thinking someone actually cares about you. Someone that will mourn you when your fragile life comes to an end. You shouldn't care about Lucy, by the way. Once I showed her 'Utopia', she was all too eager to help me destroy her own race. Contrary to the Doctor though, at least I haven't done that..."

It was there for but a moment, but he seemed to look forlornly at nothing in particular when his own race came to mind... to be honest though, he didn't exactly miss them. When they were alive, he disliked them and the feeling was mutual. But since Time Lords were strongly telepathic, there was always this feeling of so many others being out there. And now he couldn't feel anything of that. Just the Doctor, and one other... And though he would never admit it, he actually did miss his home planet. It was home, after all. But now it was all gone, thanks to the Doctor.

Then his expression changed, any true emotions hidden once again, as he looked to Martha while she was talking to Jack. Isabel? That was the Time Lady he sensed? He hadn't heard that name before, but no matter. Too bad they already figured something was going on, no doubt thanks to whatever this 'Gabe' was. Ah well.

He leaned his back against the wall, arms crossed across his chest. The Time Lord was a little surprised though to hear the female's voice again, faintly, but clear enough to understand. 'Alright, not like I've got a choice here. I'm a prisoner after all... Watch out though. Jack and the others will lie to you. He could just decide to have you thrown into a prison cell too...' He sent back. After all, it wouldn't do if his way out of there became imprisoned herself, or if she learned the truth about who he really was...

~

"Alright, I will. And you be careful around him, Martha..." Jack replied to Martha's answer before clicking off the communicator. He walked back to Gabe, Isabel and Gwen, but was quite surprised by Gabe's strange words. How could he know about...? "Gabe, if you mean Harold Saxon, he's already dead, he died on board the Valiant..." At least, that was the cover story that people knew about. Then he frowned "But you're not supposed to know any of that..."

Even more so, he wasn't supposed to know about the 'Master' at all. Only a few select people knew that... the Doctor, Martha, her family, Lucy, a few of the guards on board the Valiant, and Jack, of course. But no one else knew who or what Saxon really was. So how did Gabe know? Before he could really ask though, he already passed out. But his last words were at least as disturbing. 'Jack the Ripper in Victorian London?' Apparently he'd have to look into that, see what the old Torchwood files were on that. Funny, even he hadn't been that long here.

The captain sighed "Boy, what a homecoming... Well, it looks like we'll have to find you two temporary accomodation elsewhere." He said, glancing to Isabel and the unconscious Gabe. Then he looked to Gwen "I don't think your apartment is that big, right? I suppose we'll have to take them to a hotel for now."

Having finally located the van, Ianto dialed Jack's cell and waited with his fist clenching uselessly. "Dammit, Jack, pick up! This isn't a time to ignore me." Sour bile rose in the back of his throat, stinging and making him shiver. All he could see was Mara's pale skin stained with black and red blood, smears across her face, dripping off her fingers.... And there was still an untold number of Nostrovites out there in Cardiff, one gunning for Mara's flesh. He swallowed hard. "Jack!!"
"Dream":
Gabe woke up. He was laying on his back. He was barely able to move. There still was a sound of drums. When he got up he saw that he was standing in front of the Wales Millennium Centre. As he looked around he saw a 1960s blue police phone box with the words BAD WOLF painted on it. Gabe could tell that the drums were coming from within the phone box. Then Gabe was surrounded by hundreds of Nostrovites. There were so many Gabe could not tell how many there were only that there was a lot. Everything started spinning and as the drums got louder Gabe cupped his ears again. Gabe was spinning but stopped when the drums suddenly stopped. Gabe opened his eyes staring at the phone box. The door opened revealing Isabel with a somewhat angry face on and all covered in blood. Then another person walked out of the phone box; Gabe recognized him as Mr. Saxon also known as The Master. Blood started to pour out of the phone box. Something sparked in Gabe and he reached for a bloody knife in his pocket. But then Gabe got hit in the head falling to the floor.

Gabe woke up. He could not see much but all he was able to do before he passed out again from the drums was yell.
"The Nostrovites", Gabe yelled, "they are coming. Hundreds of them. We have to do something. Isabel is in danger. 1960s . . . blue . . . phone . . . BAD WOLF".
Gabe again fell unconscious.
Jack looked down to Gabe when he woke up again. 'What the hell could be wrong with him? Ugh, if only it were drugs, that would make my job a lot easier... but it never is, is it?' "The Nostrovites?" The captain frowned. Now that was really bad news if that was true, but Gabe was saying so many things. Was he really talking about the Master trying to contact Isabel? But it was the last part that made him widen his eyes in shock however "Bad Wolf!?" Jack exclaimed. Now he really wasn't supposed to know anything about that. The true meaning of that was only known to him, the Doctor, Rose and her family...

But once again Gabe passed out before being able to answer anything to Jack. He groaned in frustration. He really felt like shooting something, right now. Surely the Master would survive a bullet in the leg... His dark thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of his mobile. Some cheesy pop song Gwen had put on it once. 'I wonder if I could get that Pirates of the Caribbean tone on it some time...' Captain Jack thought briefly before opening the phone to his ear.

"Jack!!"

"Ianto!?" Jack replied, his expression turning to worry at hearing the tone of Ianto's voice. "What's going on, where are you!?" Had this something to do with Mara's message earlier? Great, everything bad had to happen just when he had taken a day off... Typical.

Ianto sighed and crumpled into the front seat of the SUV in relief. "Mara's killed off a female Nostrovite, but the male's nowhere to be found. She's been injured and is sitting about two blocks down with John Hart." He shuddered slightly; John Hart had managed to make it to his sh!t list from first sight, and he didn't relish Jack's reunion with the man. Moreover, Mara might have lied about just how injured she was just to get him off her back. While Jack was his lover (at least how he saw it; they'd shagged often enough), Mara was Ianto's best friend. "I need someone to be ready with first aid." It had been rotated out since Owen and Tosh died.

While a lot of what Gabe muttered while he was semi-conscious was lost on Gwen, however there was one thing that had registered with her. The phrase ‘Isabel’s in danger’ played over and over again as she looked from Gabe to Isabel. Ever since the young Time Lady had come into the care of Torchwood, Gwen had seemed to come to care for her. There bits and pieces of time when she reminded her of Tosh, as if a little piece of her fallen comrade had been kept safe within Isabel. Whatever was going on, one thing was sure…she wasn’t about to lose another person.

Before she could speak again, Gwen’s attention was pulled away from Isabel and back towards Jack. She could tell that there was something wrong by the way the ex-time agents eyebrows narrowed in concentration.

“Jack,” She said, hoping to get his attention. Whatever Jack had been told seemed to be pretty important. Gwen knew that she could handle getting both Gabe and Isabel to a safe place while Jack took care of what he needed to. “You go on ahead…I’ll take care of Isabel and Gabe.”

Bending down, Gwen went to grab Gabe as carefully as she could. She looked up at Isabel, signaling that she needed help with carrying the unconscious male. However, when she didn’t receive a response, Gwen stood up and carefully approached the eerily quiet Isabel.

“Izzy…Izzy…” She called as she carefully took steps towards her. Isabel still didn’t respond, causing her to look back at Jack with worry.

‘You’re a prisoner here…? You mean Jack actually….locked you away…’

Isabel could feel her cheeks heat up with rage, her whole body tensing up. She had spent decades looking for any sign or whisper of other Time Lords. Despite her best efforts, a little bit of her hope would dwindle away, finding it hard to believe that anyone would have been able to escape the great Time War. Yet after all this time…she finally found out that she wasn’t alone anymore…that the universe wasn’t as lonely as she thought it would be. Whom ever was speaking to her now was the connection that she was missing…it was the little bit of home that had gone missing for so long.

A sudden push caused Isabel to be shaken out of her thoughts. Snapping her head around for the source, she realized that it was Gwen that had nudged her. Judging by the worried look on Gwen’s face, she could tell that Gwen had been calling her name for some time. Giving her an apologetic smile, Isabel lightly placed a hand on Gwen’s shoulder.

“Sorry about that Gwen…I kind of spaced out.” She said simply, her smile growing when she realized that Gwen’s worried expression had somewhat disappeared. For now she would play nice and obey Jack. However, when the time was right…she will get back into Torchwood and rescue the trapped Time Lord.
'I promise…I’ll be careful…and you will be free soon.’

Martha didn’t bother to responded, mainly because the communication device in her ear had been shut off quickly. Just as the conversation between her and Jack ended, she had just managed to catch the feverous rant from the imprisoned Master. He was wrong. When people die, there was always someone who was willing to mourn them. Friends, Family, a lover…everyone had at least someone who would shed a tear for them when they died. Someone would be there to remember them, to say something good about them. However, the more that she thought about it, one single questioned seemed to ring out in her mind.

Who would mourn the Master when he died?

Of course the Doctor would…maybe even Isabel, if she knew about his existence. However, that was only two people that MIGHT miss him if he were gone. Martha began to list all the people that would miss her if she would die right then and there. She honestly didn’t think that there were enough finger or toes she had that would allow her to count the number of people that would miss her. Comparing herself to The Master in that way made her feel kind of sorry for him. At the end of the day, Martha had a whole planet of people that were like her, human. Yet the Master, Doctor, and Isabel didn’t have billions of people, not even a few hundred.

“Is that what you think? That no one will miss you if or when you die?” Martha asked turning her brown eyes to focus on him, scanning her for any sort of emotion. After replaying the rest of what he said, an eyebrow raised in interest.

“And just what do you mean by ‘Contrary to the Doctor though, at least I haven't done that...’ What did the Doctor do exactly…?”
Jack winced slightly hearing Ianto's news. Great, he had a psychopathic Time Lord playing havoc from down in his cell, a Nostrovite invasion and at least one of his team injured. Badly injured, know the Nostrovites. Oh, and then there was John too. The only way this day could get any worse was a Dalek popping up from behind the monument. His blue eyes wandered to the fountain monument for a nervous moment at that thought, half expecting 'EXTERMINATE' to sound through the air.

Okay, he could track down the SUV with his vortex manipulator, but he'd still need a vehicle. Jack looked to Gwen, glancing at Isabel for a moment, wondering if she was going to cause any trouble, before looking back to his team member. "Gwen, I'll need your car." Well, he could use her help too, but he really couldn't leave Gabe and Isabel here...

He talked into the mobile again "Ianto, sit tight, I'm coming." He headed inside to get the medical kit, once he'd retrieved it, he went outside again, and held out his hand for Gwen to give her car keys. "Mara is injured by a Nostrovite and stuck with John." He explained in a hurry.

~

The Master grinned smugly at hearing Isabel's telepathic words. If she could make sure not to get caught, then he would be out of this cell soon. Well, if she really was a Time Lady, she should be smart enough for that. And as long as either Jack or Miss Jones didn't catch on...

He returned his attention to the woman before him. Well, beyond the glass wall before him. But at her first question, the smug look disappeared and he looked at her as if she'd grown a second head. Maybe not that extreme, still, he'd seen worse happen, but he wondered why the hell she'd turned this on him. And why would she want to know anyway?

"Feh." The Time Lord scoffed "What do I care about anyone 'missing' me?" But even to his own ears, he sounded a bit sulkingly. Ugh, right, change of subject, now.

He raised an eyebrow at her last question. Ah, better. The grin returned "I guess he never told you. He told you about the Time War, didn't he? But not the whole truth..." He leaned closer to the glass that separated them, looking her straight in the eyes "It was your precious hero Doctor that murdered all of our people."

"I'm taking the SUV back to where she is. Meet me there. And Jack," Ianto added, starting the SUV, "hurry." He backed out of his place and trundled down the road to where Mara was still sitting -- and bleeding -- on the sidewalk.

The computer genius was shaking, her face pale and her skin in goosebumps. Ianto's denim jacket was heavily stained with clotted blood, and the sleeves were wrapped tightly around her waist. Ianto felt his heart drop, and he slammed on the brakes, threw the SUV into park, and leapt out.
John sucked on the inside of his cheek as he smirked, enjoying the begging Mara was doing as he gazed at her. She was so easy to read. Of course he knew she loved him, he always did know...and well…being able to tap into those feelings to get what he wanted from her, when he wanted, was almost too easy.

What are you sorry for, eh? And as I said, we shall see.” The rouge time agent purred with a small grin as he reached out and lightly stroked a finger down the girl’s cheek. As he sat there, waiting for that insufferable Ianto to return, he frowned as his eyebrows knitted together. Mara was fading fast. Damn it, where was he?!

Sighing softly, John reached out and wrapped his arm around Mara’s shoulder care carefully as he tried to add his own body heat to keep her warm. “Ah…there he is…” He mumbled when the SUV pulled up and Ianto stepped out. “Where the hell were you, Eye-candy!?” He demanded as he glanced at Mara and then back at the Torchwood agent.

Ianto scowled but didn't respond right away. Instead, he helped his best friend to her feet and lifted her into the back seat of the SUV. He paused, considering something, then jerked his head at John. "Get in," he said, "I'm not taking her anywhere yet." As much as he resented John Hart, at the moment, it was better to keep his enemies closer.

Mara shivered violently and tried adjust herself on the seat. The "scratch" for her Nostrovite encounter was really more a deep gash, looking like a savage attack than a near-miss. She reclined her head on the seat, her eyes unfocused in John and Ianto's general direction.

((Please read the note at the bottom of the first post. THAT MEANS ALL OF YOU!))
Standing up and brushing dirt off of his pants as he watched Ianto move Mara to the SUV, John pursed his lips before he smirked cruelly. “Ooh, getting demanding are we Ianto? I didn’t know you were so dominating…” He asked softly before his face fell back into a frown.

“What? Why not? Are we going to see how much more she can bleed before we go to get her help, then?” John asked as he crossed his arms and then turned and got into the back seat. Were they waiting for someone then to come with a first-aid, then? That certainly would be useful then hauling Mara back to Torchwood like she was.
After he procured the key from Gwen, Jack ran to her car, only calling back over his shoulder "I'll try not to get Nostrovite all over your car, Gwen!" A few moments later, he was sitting behind the wheel, starting up the engine and tossing the medical kit on the front passenger seat. Once it was running, he opened the strap of his wrist device and messed with it until he found the location of the Torchwood van, and noticed it was right by the location of the only other Time Agent wrist strap on the planet. "John..." The captain muttered between his teeth and took off with the car.

With a complete disregard for speed limits, he would make it there soon, he thought. Still, he obviously didn't want to crash a car that wasn't even his. 'Why don't I have a car anyway?' Well, the Torchwood van was technically his. Nor did he technically exist, it was hard to be an official citizen when you were immortal. That raised annoying questions with too many people. He didn't even have a driver's licence, but he didn't mention that to his teammates.

Moments later, he pulled up alongside the black SUV, grabbed the medical kit and got out. He couldn't say he liked the sight that greeted him, but first things first. Mara needed the medical kind of help. The immortal stepped over to the SUV, cast a glance at John before looking at Ianto and Mara. While he knew the basics, Jack wasn't really medically-inclined. He never had the need to patch himself up, obviously. So he figured Ianto was a lot better at it than him, especially seeing how he took care of that Cyberwoman for all that time he hid her in the Torchwood basement. He handed the kit to Ianto and looked to Mara, wincing a little and looking worried when he saw the gash.

"They didn't bit her, did they?" It looked more like a scratch than a bite, but still... the last thing they needed was another one of those pregnancies and mummy Nostrovite hunting down Mara to free her baby. But no matter what it was, it looked bad. He looked back to Ianto "Can you patch it up, Ianto?" Jack stepped back a little to give Ianto better access, then looked to John sitting in the front seat.

"John. You always get out unscathed, huh..." The Captain said with a colder edge to his voice. He itched to say 'What did you do, throw her in front of yourself as a shield?' but decided against it. It wasn't the time for a fight, especially seeing how fights with John went... Jack glanced to their surroundings "Any more Nostrovites in the close vicinity?"

((Good luck with your finals, Cora. I know the feeling, went through them myself a couple of weeks ago =/ ack, getting my results this monday <_<" oh well. Also, does anyone have any idea if they use the demerit point system on drivers' licences in the UK? Gwen might have a problem then if Jack passed a camera =P))
Saun flipped up the collar of her jacket and lowered the soft wool of her hat down over her eyes, stopping the fire in her eyes from getting out. She needed, now most of all, to use every ounce of nano-supplicated calm she could muster without shutting her emotions down completely. "This is only a trade agreement. I'm only here to make sure everyone plays nice." She forced herself with no small effort to merely play her role as intended, but it really, REALLY wasn't working.

The human Jack sent her to protect was entering into some sort of weird covenant with a band of hooded aliens. Though she could find no information on them in the Hub's databases, Saun was sure it was there, hiding in the ghost of the code. By the time she was calm enough to give the matter due consideration the agreement was over and the man had no need of her anymore. "I do thank you for your help, and Torchwood's, of course. Those...things are a very nasty lot when threatened, but with you here I felt at least marginally well-protected. Anyway, feel free to take me home--before...." Saun was about to ask the next logical question when the breeze kicked up and she got a whiff of the aliens. She chuckled, "I guess he was right about them... Damn if I tell him though," she shrugged. In two steps she had the Nostrovite and the human it had bitten by the shoulders. The angry human, and the positively pissed Nostro whipped around, losing all pretense at playacting. The fact that either of them had made Saun doubly concerned, but that didn't matter just then. She dispatched the Nostrovite, sending it crumpled to the ground with a crushed skull; the human, both of them, were another story. She pulled out the cell all of Torchwood practically had sewn to their ear in the last few days and called up the Hub, simultaneously shoving the Nostro -carrying human into Saun's former mission.

Mara blinked twice before looking up at Jack. "No," she said slowly, "I don't think it bit me. It was the female anyway." She looked down at her abdomen to make sure she hadn't been sliced and felt a wave of dizziness sweep over her. She flopped back against the seats when Ianto pushed her.

"No problem, sir," said the man as he opened the medical case. "But she'll need a transfusion when we get back to the Hub." He wrinkled his nose as he cleaned away the dirt from the deep wound. Mara HAD lied about her injury; she usually did when there was work to be done. He wasn't the greatest with medical technology (that again was Mara), but he couldn't take her to the hospital. He packed the gash with gauze and shut the door, looking at Jack. "I'll see you back there, shall I?" he asked, repressing the urge to kiss him.
