The year is 1894, and as technology grows, businesses flourish. In the outskirts of Victorian era London lies a mansion where the Phantomhives reside. The Phantomhive family is of noble birth, as they are responsible for the making of candy and children's toys for many years. From this, they have concocted a business-savvy company known as "Funtom". A few years ago, Vincent and Rachael Phantomhive cared for the mansion, housing frequent guests and parties in their spare time. Living a high and rich life, they had a son of whom they named "Ciel". When Ciel was very young, he often played with his cousin, Elizabeth Middleford, who was also of noble birth. Life seemed perfect for the Phantomhives. Then disaster struck. When Ciel was 10, the manor burned down, killing off both Ciel's parents and leaving him behind for orphanage. Ciel recalls very little of what happened, or how life seemed before. Now living in a depiction of the previous mansion with three servants, the steward, and a butler, Ciel is the only remaining heir to the thrown of Phantomhive, dubbing him the Earl.
The Phantomhive Manor is very well cared for. Because of this, you are asked to please, be careful, and show kindness to everyone who is in it. It has been described as "a dignified maze" in many cases. You may want to let the butler show you around first before you make yourself at home.
When you first walk in, you will be standing in the front hall, across from a giant staircase, which leads to some of the more obscure rooms in the manor. From there, you may be shown to your room or browse one of the many game rooms the manor houses. Be careful, though. You may find Lau with his assistant Ran-Mao on your way. They seem to take a liking to the game rooms.
But if there is one place you should avoid, it is the kitchen. It's recommended that when the chef is cooking, stay away from it. Best enter only if the butler is preparing something. Downstairs, there are many hallways that lead to various sitting rooms. Don't be surprised if you catch the butler tidying up. Some sitting rooms are accustomed with instruments, like a grand piano or violin display. It is preferred that you do not touch these instruments, as they are very fragile and expensive.
Stroll far enough, and you will come to the manor's library. Many rooms in the manor are connected to the outside walls, providing you with a beautiful outlook though large windows. The gardens are usually tampered with by the manor's gardener. Don't be surprised if you find the foliage either completely different or completely missing since you last gazed upon it. As far as dining goes, you will be allowed to dine where you please, as long as you don't make a mess. If you do happen to make a mess, don't stress over it. The butler will take care of it immediately.
