A group of enraged citizens left their homelands in search of a new life. Some
were farmers, while others were shopkeepers or common people. Nonetheless,
they grew tired of their country's government, and set sail to the new land in hopes
of fresh new start. It was a brutal three months, but they finally spotted land from
their tacky ship, and decided to set on foot on land to search for the perfect spot
to establish their new colony.

After trekking through the terrain, they finally found the ideal spot to start their new
lives. It was a valley, littered with lush green grass and fertile soil. The river water
was fresh and abundant in fish. The area also wasn't too far from the beach, so they
could go fishing by the seashore if anything were to happen to the river. They set up
town slowly by building small houses for themselves, but within a few months they
were all settled in. The town was named Sleepy Valley due to it's location, as well as
the calming feeling that the town brought to everyone who came across it.

The rumor of a new colony was spread, and years later Sleepy Valley became known
as the town of new beginnings to anyone who wanted to pursue a new life.

However, this didn't last forever...

It turns out that the Old Country grew infuriated with the number of citizens departing
for the new land, and plotted to find a way to get them to return. Years passed, and all
was well in Sleepy Valley until people began to vanish into thin air. The townsfolk were
all horrified. What could possibly be the cause of all these disappearances? The answer
to that question became clear when they caught the perpetrators red-handed; the Old
Country.

They stooped down to a level where they actually would kidnap the inhabitants
of Sleepy Valley in order to restore their population to the way it was years ago. Upon
finding out the Old Country was behind the disappearances, a full-blown war broke out
between these two nations. The people of Sleepy Valley wanted to be independent, and
refused to have ties with the Old Country. On the other hand, the Old Country wanted to
overtake Sleepy Valley so that the people would have to live under their rule.

The war waged on for decades, but came to an end after the signing of the Neighborly
Treaty. At last the bloodshed ceased, however, the conditions stated in the treaty were
quite overbearing and reprehensible. Despite the friendly name of the treaty, the citizens
of Sleepy Valley were forced to hand over fifty percent of their citizens, as well as agree
to let the Old Country govern them. The townsfolk of Sleepy Valley were discouraged to
sign the treaty, but did only because since they hated to see people lose their family
members...

It is now modern day in Sleepy Valley. All seems peaceful now, and with so much
technology, things seem busier than ever. Sleepy Valley is now a historical town with lots
of things to see and learn about. Tourists are often commenting on how the town gives off
a really great vibe of acceptance and welcoming. And yes, the inhabitants of Sleepy Valley
are very humble, but they all know something that most tourists don't.

Centuries have passed since the Neighborly Treaty, and the Old Country has let go of their
grasp on this nation... or so that's how it seems. While tourists happily stroll the streets of
Sleepy Valley, the inhabitants live in fear of the secret society located underground this
bustling tourist town. This secret society is run by the Old Country. They are a dangerous
group of people, who deliver relentless punishment to those who disobey them. However, if
they are really in the mood, they will take you into their underground headquarters and do
cruel and disgusting things to you. Some people never return after they've been taken...

The fate of Sleepy Valley is in your hands.

Will you speak out for your rights?

ONE

Follow the ToS, I don't even know why this has to be stated, but I'm going to state it
anyways. Why are you even here if you can't follow the Terms of Service?

TWO

Do not god-mod other people's characters. No one likes it when you take control of
their character; making them do things that they didn't intend them to do, saying things
they didn't want their characters to say, etc. Just don't do it.

THREE

Please post at least two paragraphs when you post. And try to make it something that
someone else could interact with. Concerning post styles, I'm asking for a picture of your
character, their name somewhere, their current mood, their current location, and a link to
their journal. Also, try your best to have proper grammar and punctuation. A little slip up
every here and there is completely fine, just keep it at a minimum. I also advise that you
steer away from using font colors that could melt someones eyes from their sockets, for
example, super light pink, yellow, neon colors, etc.

FOUR

Try to post at least once a week. It's not a big shocker that some people have a life that
doesn't involve them being on the internet, so it's understandable if you're unable to post
sometimes. But if you're interacting with someone else, please refrain from making them
wait forever for a reply. If something important comes up and you're unable to continue
participating, please inform me about it, so that I can think of a way to remove your
character from the story smoothly.

FIVE

For this roleplay, I require you to create a test forum to post your character's profiles as
well as a journal. I honestly don't care how you set up your profiles or journals, just make
sure that you include a heart scale that indicates your relationship with other characters.
You're free to include other things in their journals, such as music or anything really. Also
be sure to include a link to your journal in your post styles. The next post goes into more
detail about character profiles.

Sexuality: self explanatory i think?
Relationship Status: single, taken, abstinent, widowed, etc etc.
Any other sort of physical features.

Located right in the heart of the town, this area is the liveliest of all the provinces in Sleepy
Valley. Best for people who hate the silence, almost anything you could possible need is just
a walk away from your house. Or perhaps you're residing as a tourist in the Sleepy Valley's
inn! This area isn't exactly the safest place to be at night though...

Somewhat isolated, this province is much more rustic and isn't as tech-savvy as the others.
It's almost as if this area was left behind. However, there is no other place in Sleepy Valley
that will feel as relaxing as this. Sure, the shopping province might have a bunch of laptops
and cellphones, but this province has something that the others don't. This province is
nature at it's finest.

No one speaks of this province in the daylight, it would be horrible if tourist's found out about
it's existence. Thus, rumors of this province are whispered in the shadows of night. It's
exact location is unknown, and only those who live here know how to get in. The only thing
the inhabitants of Sleepy Valley know of this province is that it's underground... and that it's
extremely merciless. How are people able to live underground anyways...? Maybe it's better
off to leave that question unanswered.

Some people just love waking up to the sound of waves thrashing against the shore. Tourists
also love staying by the beach since it's a good distance from the boisterous shopping
province. Other than the annoying seagull squawking, the beach is basically just a nice
place to be if you want to sit back and relax while letting the breeze brush against you.
